What is a "movie star"? It's like you are speaking from an echo chamber in the 50s. That concept doesn't exist anymore, the internet has done with it. Media-savvy audiences are a lot more difficult to control and manipulate and my guess is that in 10, 20 or 30 years' time "movie stardom" would be but a quaint memory.

On the other hand, talking about Tim, one must have something to promote and in order to do that one must have good work to present. If the person in question is gallivanting around filling his head with nonsense and believing to vacuous PR, instead of keeping his eyes on the prize — good work—, they may end up with nothing really to "PR" about.

R576 There are no more movie stars in the sense of guaranteed BO returns (except for Dicaprio), but there are definitely movie stars in thesense of actors who are famous among the general public, have universal name recognition and gets cast in huge movies. He has real talent, with experience and maturity he could become one of the greatest actors, of his generation is a given. He is aware of his defects, his talk of learning to do less is quite illuminating. If he can do that it will be a joy to watch. But he needs the roles to act and not emote. If he is on the route of celebrity he might not get the roles. Great directors and great roles is what I wish for him, that's why Dune is important; mainstream with a good director in a leading role. It needs to be a box office hit for him.
