Tuc Watkins Has Moved Back To Kansas

Telling the Kansas City press

"Supporting Kansas City's LGBTQ community means a lot to me as a single, gay dad to four year-old twins. I recently mentored at The Coterie Theatre's Project Pride and look forward to more opportunities to get involved ... if I can find a babysitter!"

Why would he move back to the middle of nowhere, when he can be the slut of NYC? Doesn't make sense.

by Anonymousreply 95December 26, 2018 7:10 PM

I actually saw him jogging in Central Park last June while he was in The Boys in the Band. Very attractive man and seemed incredibly kind. I met him after the show, too. From the gaggle of twinks behind me going on and on about what a "hot daddy" he was, I would assume he could have his own pick of the hottest asses in NYC.

by Anonymousreply 1December 22, 2018 5:34 PM

R1 so why doesn't he? Would make more sense for him to slut around NYC than being stuck in the middle of nowhere like Kansas.

by Anonymousreply 2December 22, 2018 5:37 PM

His NYC salary savings will last a lot longer in flyover KS ... that’s why Rose, that’s why ...

by Anonymousreply 3December 22, 2018 5:40 PM

R3 but it is more IN to live in NYC or LA, than NOWHERE Kansas. What would the pearl clutchers think?

by Anonymousreply 4December 22, 2018 5:41 PM

Some people really just don't like big cities.

by Anonymousreply 5December 22, 2018 5:44 PM

Actually, its more IN to live outside the bubble and to not follow the lemmings.....oh, and not everyone who lives in NYC or LA is a slut.

by Anonymousreply 6December 22, 2018 5:45 PM

[quote] Some people really just don't like big cities.

Both NY & LA have suburbs

by Anonymousreply 7December 22, 2018 5:45 PM

[quote] its more IN to live outside the bubble and to not follow the lemmings

Then you are not an A-LIST Gay

by Anonymousreply 8December 22, 2018 5:46 PM

Kansas City MISSOURI you freaking dumbass.

by Anonymousreply 9December 22, 2018 5:48 PM

He's 52 years old. He's got kids. His acting career, though steady, hasn't been a big enough success to sustain a NYC family lifestyle. He sees the big picture, and raising a family in his hometown of KC, where his parents probably still live and can assist in raising the kids, is sensible, economical, and practical.

by Anonymousreply 10December 22, 2018 5:49 PM

r8...and Im proud of that Dear......and only a vapid, narcissistic cunt would want to be.

by Anonymousreply 11December 22, 2018 5:49 PM

[quote] only a vapid, narcissistic cunt would want to be.

Doesn't every gay dream that?

by Anonymousreply 12December 22, 2018 5:50 PM

NO....

by Anonymousreply 13December 22, 2018 5:52 PM

[quote] NO....

You get a different answer if you went to a White Party

by Anonymousreply 14December 22, 2018 5:54 PM

I find it refreshing. I met him when he was doing The Boys in the Band last year and he definitely seemed the most down to earth and approachable of all the cast. Maybe he's just tired of it all and wanting a change.

by Anonymousreply 15December 22, 2018 5:58 PM

Kansas City is on the border of Kansas and Missouri; the downtown is in Missouri, but the nicer suburbs (where he will likely live) are in Kansas.

by Anonymousreply 16December 22, 2018 6:01 PM

[quote] You get a different answer if you went to a White Party

Not every gay man goes to the White Party, nor wishes to.

by Anonymousreply 17December 22, 2018 6:02 PM

R17 That is BS - everyone wants to be popular

by Anonymousreply 18December 22, 2018 6:07 PM

What's the big deal? Many people move back to their hometowns after New York or LA or anywhere really, especially if they have kids and their family is back home. Camyrn Manheim's gay baby daddy moved back to Wisconsin.

by Anonymousreply 19December 22, 2018 6:09 PM

[quote]I would assume he could have his own pick of the hottest asses in NYC.

He's 52. According to him he decided in his mid 40s he wanted kids and really changed his lifestyle to accommodate that which included leaving LA/NY.

Living in Kansas City puts him close to his family if he needs help. He has said he only moved to NYC because he was offered The Boys in the Band which he felt like was an opportunity that he couldn't turn down as did most of the cast.

It's also nice that he's pretty clear about being a parent as his focus. It doesn't seem like PR drivel.

He stopped taking serious acting gigs once he had them and it seems like he's sticking with that decision. That's something I think people should respect.

by Anonymousreply 20December 22, 2018 6:12 PM

It's not a big deal; the OP's just one of those DLers who can't fathom that any other gay man might not want exactly what he wants from life.

by Anonymousreply 21December 22, 2018 6:13 PM

R10 and R20 for the win.

There is an adjacent thread . I mention that his lovely KC home is three blocks from mine. (no I don't babysit)

by Anonymousreply 22December 22, 2018 6:14 PM

Gay A-Listers DO NOT move to Kansas

End of story

by Anonymousreply 23December 22, 2018 6:32 PM

Where’s Worlds of Fun?

by Anonymousreply 24December 22, 2018 7:29 PM

He told someone I know that once he came out he stopped getting work in LA. He said he had to move back to the Midwest to get his career started again. He's a working actor in KC now, and it led to BITB, but he's gonna stay in KC and leverage his career from there. Smart move, I say.

by Anonymousreply 25December 22, 2018 7:36 PM

Who?

by Anonymousreply 26December 22, 2018 8:11 PM

R25 you guys all know that if Ron Carlivati wrote a part for him on Days of Our Lives, that he would be out to LA in a second

by Anonymousreply 27December 22, 2018 9:24 PM

I admire him for this. The business is hard. I"m sure, if he were offered something great like Boys in the Band, he'd jump on it. I don't think it means full retirement. Doesn't Betty Buckley do that? She lives in Texas, but when she gets a great offer or audition, she comes back to NYC or L.A. To me, that sounds like a lovely life.

by Anonymousreply 28December 22, 2018 11:16 PM

God he's hot!

As far as his leaving NYC is concerned, some people are simply not so simple minded and shallow as to think that if you don't live in NYC or L.A. you're nothing.

by Anonymousreply 29December 22, 2018 11:25 PM

Saw him in "The Boys in the Band." He had very few lines and he screwed up two of them. But I like him anyway.

by Anonymousreply 30December 22, 2018 11:38 PM

A friend of mine used to say that Toose (we gave it the soft "c") went to the Ruta Lee school of acting. What did he mean by that?

by Anonymousreply 31December 22, 2018 11:44 PM

I'm back in Kansas and welcoming my Friends.

by Anonymousreply 32December 22, 2018 11:46 PM

[quote] Saw him in "The Boys in the Band." He had very few lines and he screwed up two of them.

That is so strange to me. He was on One Life to Live for seemingly an eternity. Soap actors aren't the best actors but at least they can memorize lines.

by Anonymousreply 33December 22, 2018 11:51 PM

He wasn't living in NYC - he was only there for Boys in the Band. He had been living in Los Angeles for over ten years.

by Anonymousreply 34December 22, 2018 11:51 PM

the article OP linked makes it sound like he just went back to KC to do a play, not that he's moved back there lock, stock, and barrel.

by Anonymousreply 35December 22, 2018 11:53 PM

Ou est Le Seponski?

by Anonymousreply 36December 22, 2018 11:54 PM

Again if you are a GAY A-Lister - you DO NOT move to Kansas. You live in either NYC or LA - failing that Atlanta or Chicago, But NOT Kansas

End of story

by Anonymousreply 37December 23, 2018 12:58 AM

I hope Betty Lynn comes back to NY if she's offered Boys in the Band.

by Anonymousreply 38December 23, 2018 1:08 AM

R18, people who go to White Parties have meth face and AIDS.

by Anonymousreply 39December 23, 2018 1:10 AM

I live in DC. If I'd ever had kids, i wpould have moved back to the Midwest in a heartbeat. Less asshole-ishness tha n either coast and a more rational, better priced quality of life. Watkins probabky can figure aout a way to be Mr Hollywwod in KC and and take the occasional well paying acting job and do a btter job raising kids there than he ever could in a useless place like LA.

by Anonymousreply 40December 23, 2018 1:17 AM

R37- but he is not an A-lister.

by Anonymousreply 41December 23, 2018 1:28 AM

R41 it was a GAY A-lister, which he is in the gay world.

by Anonymousreply 42December 23, 2018 1:32 AM

You old fags will argue about anything. He's a seemingly nice man who moved to back to Kansas to raise a family. End of story!

by Anonymousreply 43December 23, 2018 2:17 AM

R37 listed Atlanta above DC. Oh dear.

DC is the second east coast hub after New York.

by Anonymousreply 44December 23, 2018 2:21 AM

R44 not anymore - not after Tyler Perry has made Atlanta what it is today

by Anonymousreply 45December 23, 2018 2:23 AM

R45 And what exactly IS Atlanta these days??

by Anonymousreply 46December 23, 2018 2:28 AM

It's pretty common these days for actors to not live in NYC/LA year round. If you're not working year round, it's cheaper to live elsewhere and find temp digs when you have to.

And we already knew this....we read Viki Sleestak's summer newsletter!

by Anonymousreply 47December 23, 2018 2:33 AM

R46 CNN, Walking Dead and all of Tyler Perry productions.

by Anonymousreply 48December 23, 2018 2:35 AM

A city that is inferior and less important than DC r46.

by Anonymousreply 49December 23, 2018 2:36 AM

R49 with Trump in town, DC has plummeted to nowhere land

by Anonymousreply 50December 23, 2018 2:43 AM

Kansas City has a relatively large gay population. If you have decent money you can live well and then travel easily enough from KCI.

by Anonymousreply 51December 23, 2018 2:47 AM

Hes hot.

by Anonymousreply 52December 23, 2018 2:48 AM

His money will go much farther in Kansas. His kids will have extended family around. His agent will still find him occasional gigs in NY or LA. He will do fine. All the excitement, men and activity in LA gets old at some point.

by Anonymousreply 53December 23, 2018 3:11 AM

He seems like a lovely, wonderful man. I wish him every happiness in life.

by Anonymousreply 54December 23, 2018 5:33 AM

Why would this seemingly innocuous thread get greyed out?

by Anonymousreply 55December 23, 2018 8:49 AM

Not the entire thread, Mary R55.

Just the OP, apparently.

by Anonymousreply 56December 23, 2018 10:58 AM

An appreciation.

by Anonymousreply 57December 23, 2018 12:22 PM

Obviously he did what most smart people would do - get his kids out of NYC before they grew up to be DLers.

by Anonymousreply 58December 23, 2018 1:04 PM

[quote] Again if you are a GAY A-Lister - you DO NOT move to Kansas. You live in either NYC or LA - failing that Atlanta or Chicago, But NOT Kansas End of story

Anyone who worries about being perceived sa a "Gay A Lister" has issues and insecurities that can't be addressed outside a professional setting.

The probable truth is Tuc Watkins undestands that the business in NY/LA favored him in his youth because of his physical appeal. In other words, he booked jobs because he was young and beautiful. His "brand" is "hotness" Some actors peak in their 50s and 60s (Margot Martindale, Ann Down, Bryan Cranston & other character actors) and some are more bookable when young and pretty. Watkins is one of the later.

He probably gets that he can still have a career in a less expensive market and accomplish more in his life with his family. Obvioulsy, he has been around long enough to know that what list a bunch of queens on the internet perceive you to be on is a bullshit concern.

by Anonymousreply 59December 23, 2018 1:22 PM

New York is not a proper place to raise children.

by Anonymousreply 60December 23, 2018 1:32 PM

He bought Auntie Em and Uncle Henry's place. Jealous, bitches?

by Anonymousreply 61December 23, 2018 1:33 PM

Does he bottom?

by Anonymousreply 62December 23, 2018 2:16 PM

KC has a surprisingly large and active theater community for a city its size.

by Anonymousreply 63December 23, 2018 2:28 PM

As usual, the dl shits on an out and stable gay man, while worshipping homophobic cunts like marky mark

by Anonymousreply 64December 23, 2018 2:31 PM

[quote] As usual, the dl shits on an out and stable gay man, while worshipping homophobic cunts like marky mark

Yes, because most DL'ers are caftan flapping queens who have weird self loathing issues, and are about as deep as a penny. Sad to say.

by Anonymousreply 65December 23, 2018 3:09 PM

[quote] As usual, the dl shits on an out and stable gay man, while worshipping homophobic cunts like marky mark

Keep in mind the vast majority of these DL assholes who shit on others are poseurs who lead sad little lives, and probably couldn't come up with $5000.00 cash money in a week if their lives depended on it, and the only people they can conceivably impress are people on an anonymous web chat board who will never know who or what they really are.

by Anonymousreply 66December 23, 2018 6:13 PM

I love Tuc.

I want him in me quite deeply.

by Anonymousreply 67December 24, 2018 4:06 PM

[quote] Kansas City MISSOURI you freaking dumbass.

Miss OP failed basic geography.

by Anonymousreply 68December 24, 2018 10:03 PM

R68 He's 5 blocks from state line and I think parents are on the Kansas side.

by Anonymousreply 69December 24, 2018 10:05 PM

Yeah OP doesn't seem to realize that Kansas City is not actually in Kansas.

by Anonymousreply 70December 24, 2018 10:05 PM

Tuc was born in Kansas City, KANSAS (KCK), which is just across the river from Kansas City, Missouri (KCMO). When Tuc talks about his hometown of Kansas City, he means the Kansas City Metropolitan Area, which includes KCMO, KCK, Overland Park, and its surrounding suburbs.

by Anonymousreply 71December 24, 2018 11:35 PM

Tuc still lives in Los Angeles. He was only in NYC to do "The Boys in the Band," just as he's only back in KC to do a show.

by Anonymousreply 72December 24, 2018 11:46 PM

R72 NOT TRUE - He has moved back to Kansas for good.

by Anonymousreply 73December 24, 2018 11:50 PM

For r71

I'm so glad Tuc mentioned his former TV show Beggars and Choosers from the 1990s, a very under-appreciated satiric series about Hollywood studio backbiters (though I think it was filmed in Toronto).

It starred Brian Kerwin and was created by the brilliant writer Peter Lefcourt, who wrote the infamous novel The Dreyfuss Affair about a love affair between 2 gay major league baseball players (that was forever about to be made into a film and then wasn't).

Is Tuc short for Tucker? If so, sort of odd that he doesn't spell it Tuck.

by Anonymousreply 75December 25, 2018 12:08 AM

R75 Beggars and Choosers was filmed in Vancouver

The name "Tuc" is a nickname that stuck - When he was a baby that was his first word he ever uttered "Tuc" so it stuck as his nickname.

by Anonymousreply 76December 25, 2018 12:10 AM

Is Tuc not married or partnered? He doesn't mention anyone sharing daddy duties.

by Anonymousreply 77December 25, 2018 12:10 AM

Are his parents really sure his first word wasn't tuck?

by Anonymousreply 78December 25, 2018 12:11 AM

Welcome, daddy!

by Anonymousreply 79December 25, 2018 12:12 AM

I know he became a father by himself r77, not sure if he is still single. I guess so.

by Anonymousreply 80December 25, 2018 12:14 AM

[quote] Are his parents really sure his first word wasn't tuck?

Yes, because the first word he uttered as a baby was "Tuc" and the nickname stuck

by Anonymousreply 81December 25, 2018 12:15 AM

Kids are expensive and he isn't a big star, his savings and residuals will go much further in Missouri.

I wonder if he is largely retiring from acting or is he is still going to leave the kids and go to LA for jobs.

by Anonymousreply 82December 25, 2018 12:23 AM

What residuals?

by Anonymousreply 83December 25, 2018 12:26 AM

I went on a date with Tuc years ago. He was a struggling actor at the time. Very nice guy but I was in a “I hate actors” mode so wouldn’t keep dating him even though he seemed interested.

He was genuine and down to earth even back then. So happy for him that he made his dreams of having children come true,

He did suck cock really well though.

by Anonymousreply 84December 25, 2018 12:27 AM

You should have landed a popular primetime soap dear r83

by Anonymousreply 85December 25, 2018 12:34 AM

R84 was Tuc a top or a bottom?

by Anonymousreply 86December 25, 2018 12:43 AM

R86, with me he was more bottom but definitely vers. Very fun in bed. He would make jokes and we’d laugh while we fucked.

We had sex three or four times.

by Anonymousreply 87December 25, 2018 12:55 AM

How does Tuc look in a jockstrap?

by Anonymousreply 88December 25, 2018 12:55 AM

R87 you can't believe how many people here on DL are so jealous of you

by Anonymousreply 89December 25, 2018 1:06 AM

I'll bet Tuc blew his way through his months in Boys in the Band.

by Anonymousreply 90December 25, 2018 1:38 AM

R84 thanks for the info! so..... how big? C or uc?

by Anonymousreply 91December 25, 2018 2:08 AM

by Anonymousreply 94December 26, 2018 4:45 PM

I remember drooling over Tuc as a closeted teen back when he was on Beggars and Choosers. Good for him and I'm glad he's happy. For some as the get older, the things that lured them to a massive city no longer interests them to the same degree. I moved to a major city when I was 19 and now in my late 30s, I could very easily see myself moving somewhere smaller.
