Kate Winslet and Saorise Ronan set to play lesbian lovers in romance drama Ammonite
by Anonymous | reply 56 | May 8, 2019 10:31 AM |
It's called "Amirite?
by Anonymous | reply 1 | December 16, 2018 11:28 PM |
What is the age difference?
by Anonymous | reply 2 | December 16, 2018 11:29 PM |
Kate will get number 2 before G gets number 1.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | December 16, 2018 11:31 PM |
R2 40?
by Anonymous | reply 4 | December 16, 2018 11:31 PM |
How can it be 40, R4? Maybe 20.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | December 16, 2018 11:32 PM |
Kate is 19 years older than Saorise, R2. Still, they look good together in that picture above. Much better than Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara.

living in closet but playing gay roles just for awards both of them
by Anonymous | reply 7 | December 16, 2018 11:34 PM |
Winslet has done some work on his face noticeably nose job and face lift

Winslet had three kids with three different men. Is that's a lesbian...
by Anonymous | reply 9 | December 16, 2018 11:35 PM |
Hollywood doesn't really like gay stuff so they have to make it about something else -big age difference , bi, etc.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | December 16, 2018 11:37 PM |
Winlet looks way older than her age
by Anonymous | reply 11 | December 17, 2018 9:28 PM |
Yes, they look better together than Rooney and Cate did.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | December 18, 2018 12:59 AM |
I thought Winslet was ugly back in the days of Sense & Sensibility and Titanic but now, unexpectedly, I think she’s looking foxy! I also thought Ronan was unattractive and annoying when she was younger, as in her breakout role in Atonement (which may be in part due to the annoying character she was playing, which would be a testament to her good acting)...anyway I think Ronan’s looking better as she gets older, too. And they look like they have good chemistry.
I’m interested in this film.

SR always seems butch and hyperactive in interviews.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | December 18, 2018 1:35 AM |
R13 when I saw Beautiful Creatures I thought she was one of the homeliest actresses I had ever seen
by Anonymous | reply 15 | December 18, 2018 2:16 AM |
Kate was gorgeous in her early days. She has aged quickly.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | December 18, 2018 2:21 AM |
I dont know what chemistry you are seeing and saoirse is a good actor, but she has the sex appeal of a paper clip
by Anonymous | reply 17 | December 18, 2018 2:24 AM |
Why take roles away from open and out lesbians?
by Anonymous | reply 18 | December 18, 2018 2:26 AM |
A film about lesbian lovers in the 1800s is not going to get financed unless it attracts marquee names, r18.
Feel free as always to write and produce your own film and cast whomever you like.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | December 18, 2018 2:31 AM |
there are so few good roles for straight white women, r19. Right?
by Anonymous | reply 20 | December 18, 2018 2:36 AM |
Who the fuck asked for this?
by Anonymous | reply 21 | December 18, 2018 2:47 AM |
Cool! The story of Mary Anning is very interesting, she was an amateur palaeontologist who found some amazing fossils along England's "Jurassic Coast", and of course the scientific establishment refused to take her seriously even though she was one of the greats of her time. I didn't know she was the Lez, so there's a lot of potential for a cool movie here.
There's a theory that she inspired the "she sells seashells by the seashore" tongue twister, as she got through lean times by selling small fossils to tourists on the beach.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | December 18, 2018 4:38 AM |
Here's another of her finds, another one that was a bit too big to sell to some passing tourist.

Does Kate smoke?

Kate Winslet as Juliet Hulme in “Heavenly Creatures”
FUGLY

Kate looks better now.

I don't know why Ronan comes as asexual in her films and interviews Is this because she's hiding her sexuality?
by Anonymous | reply 28 | December 20, 2018 9:40 PM |
More white homosexuals. Tired of their stories.

Darren Criss is a closet case like Winslet and Ronan
by Anonymous | reply 31 | December 20, 2018 10:26 PM |
As a lesbian I really don't give a fuck if the actresses playing lesbians in movies are also lesbians.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | December 20, 2018 11:21 PM |
I hate when closeted celebs play gay roles for awards
by Anonymous | reply 33 | December 20, 2018 11:25 PM |
I'm all for big stars in lesbian romances. I want diversity as well, but everything helps. The last big lesbian film was "Carol." The last big gay film was "Brokeback Mountain." I'm not sure about "Boy Erased" or "Love, Simon" yet, but the two I mentioned were big movies.
There have been indie gay films since then, sure, but these bigger, star-powered movies do pave the way for more gay and lesbian movies in the mainstream.

I hope it includes tastefully-edited scissoring scenes...
by Anonymous | reply 37 | March 11, 2019 9:44 PM |
This isn't new for me. Leo dicaprio was my first on-screen lesbian romance.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | March 11, 2019 9:47 PM |
Kate Winslet looks like she could eat Saoirse Ronan for breakfast. By that I mean, Winslet has a powerful screen presence that I am not sure Ronan can match.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | March 11, 2019 9:51 PM |
No, Kate --Melanie Lynskey was the first, sweet Leo was the second.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | March 11, 2019 9:52 PM |
R24/25 hey lay off on her appearance. I agree her hair in that movie didn't do her any favors, but Kate was, and still is, a handsome, sturdy-looking English gal. She was gorgeous with the long red curls in Titanic, years later.
And I know this makes me a narrow-minded asshole, but I can't help but feel slightly skeeved out by "December-May" romances where the female is the older one (this applies to both gay and straight couples).
Maybe it's because with an older man, it's likely that it's just a sugar daddy arrangement that both parties are aware of and fine with, but with an older woman there's the perception that the younger one has mommy issues or some other type of psychological hangup that the older one is preying upon.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | March 11, 2019 10:30 PM |
R41, DO think about what you just wrote. There is absolutely no reason to assume that older women are more "predatory" and manipulative than older men, and BTW if offering someone money for sex isn't predatory then what is?
You're letting your lack of attraction for older women cloud your thinking, if not your own mommy issues.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | March 11, 2019 11:58 PM |
Well said, R42.
Talk about predatory older men, see Weinstein or Spacey or Ailes or Jackson or Singer or ....

Inertia
by Anonymous | reply 44 | March 12, 2019 12:28 AM |
Thank you, R43, and now that I've gotten that off my chest, I'm very much looking forward to this film and hope it gets released in my flyover home town. Winslet and Ronan are always good, although I can't see them as a great screen pairing, seeing as Winslet is so dynamic and Ronan is so still.
Mary Anning was a very interesting person, nice to see her get some recognition.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | March 12, 2019 12:36 AM |
R39 No she only acts on surface Ronan is a better actress.

As long as there is pressure for actors to stay in the closet and we're subjected to the bearding antics of Clooney, Cooper et al. every single fucking day, Hollyweird has no right to use gay storylines in an attempt to spice up their lame movies, let alone INVENT gay relationships between historical figures.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | May 8, 2019 2:14 AM |
I love her and have been a fan for literally most of my life (ever since I saw her in Titanic when I was 6), but I have to agree with R53. She's aged pretty poorly for some reason. Not just her face but her body too; compare her nude scenes in "The Reader" to decade-older Marisa Tomei's in "The Wrestler."
