Jennifer Aniston - Biological Clock Is A Fairy Tale

“We live in a society that messages women: By this age, you should be married; by this age, you should have children,” Jennifer Aniston told ELLE. “That’s a fairy tale."

And that's not all. The Friends icon also wants to shift the perceptions of women who choose not to have children or get married. As she says, "We live in a society that messages women: By this age, you should be married; by this age, you should have children. That’s a fairy tale. That’s the mold we’re slowly trying to break out of."

In case anyone was in any doubt, yes, Aniston is done with misogyny: "That’s part of sexism-it’s always the woman who’s scorned and heartbroken and a spinster. It’s never the opposite."

Friday, December 07, 2018 Blind Item #11

She doesn't want children. I don't care what her publicist's talking points are or what kind of throwaway line she utters, this permanent A list mostly television actress from an iconic show is not having kids. She does however enjoy being on magazine covers and the news it generates. She knows it does.

by Anonymousreply 2December 10, 2018 1:02 AM

I don't know if that's Jennifer. She's from an iconic tv series but she's mostly done movies. I'd hardly call her a television star at this point. But Jennifer probably doesn't want kids. Or else she'd have them by now even if adopted.

by Anonymousreply 3December 10, 2018 1:05 AM

Well that's a no shit blind item. Typical CDAN trash.

by Anonymousreply 4December 10, 2018 1:06 AM

She makes good points but the biological clock is no fictional fairytale .It is very real. Yes malleable to an extent but definitely real.

by Anonymousreply 5December 10, 2018 1:07 AM

I watched Dumplin. It's exactly the shitty pleasant movie one does not watch while cleaning the oven. Anniston is, of course, necessarily, too old to be the mother of the HS'er. It's amazing she still gets parts as the "Mom". She has eleventybillion dollars - why doesn't she take a risk and produce a movie that shows range, at her age. She is pleasant but very very low ambition. Stoner?

by Anonymousreply 6December 10, 2018 1:08 AM

She owes the last ten years of her career to stories about her cold baron uterus. she can fuck right off with her PR scripted bullshit. She's always had the ability to curate her interviews. She could tell them not to ask about her desire for kids. She doesn't. Bitch, you fool no one, and that includes that fake two year marriage you arranged to keep you in the press:

Aniston, Lea Michelle and Priyanka Chopra should go bowling together.

by Anonymousreply 7December 10, 2018 1:09 AM

Aniston is so one note. How the hell did she get all those movies? Did any of them make money?

by Anonymousreply 8December 10, 2018 1:10 AM

Does he have a minor aristocratic uterus?

by Anonymousreply 9December 10, 2018 1:12 AM

Hardly a surprise. There's a reason all her men have dumped her.

by Anonymousreply 10December 10, 2018 1:15 AM

(stage-whispers loudly)

LESBIAN.

by Anonymousreply 11December 10, 2018 1:15 AM

[quote] Anniston is, of course, necessarily, too old to be the mother of the HS'er.

???

Aniston is 49. Last I checked, almost all women are still fertile in their 30s.

by Anonymousreply 12December 10, 2018 1:17 AM

Jennifer Aniston became pregnant while marred to Brad Pitt but she lost the baby. I think that was her one shot at motherhood.

by Anonymousreply 13December 10, 2018 1:19 AM

The kid is 16 or 17. Sure women have kids at 34. But that's not the narrative, sweetheart. Watch the damned movie.

by Anonymousreply 14December 10, 2018 1:19 AM

She is right but most women are too pathetic and self loathing to realise this.

by Anonymousreply 15December 10, 2018 1:20 AM

R3 She's a television star. None of her movies have eclipsed Rachel on Friends. It's what she will be remembered for.

by Anonymousreply 16December 10, 2018 1:23 AM

She's such an idiot, referencing "Fairy Tales" -

For most educated, financially independent adults, it's a choice -

by Anonymousreply 17December 10, 2018 1:27 AM

She's 49 but can pass as a hard 35. Fuck you naysayers. Her range may not be extraordinary but she can soar with what she is given in sometimes shitty movies the same way Sharon Stone and J Lo can. It may not be fair, but she can. And her dream man husband left her for a bipolar nutjob with a litter of soon-to-be adolescents raised in the spotlight so you're gonna never not have to hear about them - you'd want to work a lot too.

She sells magazine and generates clicks, period.

by Anonymousreply 18December 10, 2018 1:42 AM

R18 wandered over from iVillage.

by Anonymousreply 19December 10, 2018 1:43 AM

She looks fine in Dumplin but she does NOT look a hard 35. She looks like a zillionaire 50 year old of which there are 10s of thousands in cities around the world.

by Anonymousreply 20December 10, 2018 1:47 AM

[quote]"That’s part of sexism-it’s always the woman who’s scorned and heartbroken and a spinster. It’s never the opposite."

Except on DL, if an actor is not married by age 30, he's gay and/or closeted.

by Anonymousreply 21December 10, 2018 1:57 AM

"Except on DL, if an actor is not married by age 30, he's gay and/or closeted."

There's gay marriage now, dear. You might want to update your stereotype.

I know that might require you to think something through before you type, but I believe in you.

by Anonymousreply 22December 10, 2018 3:37 AM

I’ll always have a soft spot for Anniston as she & her career gave us that fabulous, epic DL thread where people had to come up with titles and plots for a new Jennifer Anniston movie...

It was datalounge gold.

Seriously - seek it out! So many of them sounded like actual Anniston vehicles - and a good many of them sounded so much better than most of the actual Anniston flicks! To this day I’m still surprised ‘her people’ didn’t borrow some of the titles + plots! Sooooo much better than anything she’s done since...

by Anonymousreply 23December 10, 2018 3:44 AM

[quote] The kid is 16 or 17. Sure women have kids at 34. But that's not the narrative, sweetheart. Watch the damned movie.

That's not quite what you said before, sugarplum. Read your own damned words.

by Anonymousreply 24December 10, 2018 4:04 AM

She will be 50 in February. She is dried up.

by Anonymousreply 25December 10, 2018 4:14 AM

r23, my favorite Jen movie titles included "I Know, Right?" and "Just Let It Happen".

by Anonymousreply 26December 10, 2018 4:24 AM

The biological clock is a real thing... for women only. No woman is getting pregnant and delivering a child herself after age 45. (Unless she has significant medical intervention at considerable expense).

That’s not something our misogynist society or male hierarchy came up with. That’s Mother Nature’s doing, or God’s Plan if you’re so inclined. Menopause is a real thing.

If you’re a woman who doesn’t want to accept that, feel free to adopt a kid. But don’t claim that the “biological clock” isn’t a real thing.

by Anonymousreply 27December 10, 2018 4:33 AM

R27, she's not denying that women's fertility typically ends at about 45. She's denying that all women are consumed with a compelling drive to multiply. Mother nature might make a woman horny at certain times of the month to increase chances of conception, but mother nature doesn't make all women want to be parents. (Unfortunately, some of us had sad childhoods because our parents didn't want kids but felt pressured to sire an heir anyway to carry on the family name, give their parents grandkids, etc.)

So, if the "biological clock" is a real thing for women...then it's also a real thing for men, too. You're biologically designed to be horny at a moment's notice so that when a female's monthly urge kicks in, she can find a source of sperm quickly and easily. (The whole societal "marriage" construct has interfered with that process, though.) That's "mother nature's plan". Have you knocked up a woman yet? tick, tock, tick, tock...

by Anonymousreply 28December 10, 2018 5:13 AM

Agree, R28.

by Anonymousreply 29December 10, 2018 5:23 AM

[quote]That's "mother nature's plan". Have you knocked up a woman yet? tick, tock, tick, tock...

Men are fertile throughout their entire lives... so when an aging, gold-digging, Eastern European whore like Melania Knauss hits her fertile moment, coinciding with bank account depletion... a horny and rich American-born sugar-daddy like Donald Trump is available to knock her up and secure her future.

Very convenient for all involved. 👍🏻

by Anonymousreply 30December 10, 2018 5:52 AM

old sperm makes cooky kids, though

by Anonymousreply 31December 10, 2018 6:03 AM

[quote]old sperm makes cooky kids, though

Oh well, R31.

by Anonymousreply 32December 10, 2018 6:34 AM

I don't think she's trying to deny the biological clock is real. I think what she's trying to say is the whole social clock imposed upon women is BS. I know damn well there are many woman who shouldn't be mothers and more people need to get real with themselves about whether they are fit to be parents.

by Anonymousreply 33December 10, 2018 7:14 AM

I think a lot of blame is put on older women but as someone said above old sperm be a problem too. Just because a man can still reproduce doesn't mean his sperm is still as good as it was when he was younger.

by Anonymousreply 34December 10, 2018 7:32 AM

After about 45, men need to seriously reconsider fathering kids. My friend has a 48 or 49 year old brother that just welcomed his first kid with his 22 year old wife. He told us he definitely wants one or two more. We both shuddered. Autism and schizophrenia are potential problems caused by advanced paternal age.

by Anonymousreply 35December 10, 2018 7:46 AM

Advanced maternal age is a far greater predictor of fetal abnormalities than paternal age.

So, R35, your firiend’s 49-year-old brother should go right on with knocking up his 22-year-old gold-digging whore of a wife without abandon.

No worries.

by Anonymousreply 36December 10, 2018 8:09 AM

I forgot, R35, hope he has a good prenup... because that gold-digging skank won’t be sticking around for long once she has her “18-year-plan” babies locked down.

by Anonymousreply 37December 10, 2018 8:12 AM

Nope r36. Lots of studies linking old sperm and autism.

Who wants to be a senior citizen when their kids are graduating high school?

by Anonymousreply 38December 10, 2018 8:19 AM

[quote]Who wants to be a senior citizen when their kids are graduating high school?

A male who’s going to be minimally involved with some potentially-defective offspring of a trophy-fuck younger woman.

by Anonymousreply 39December 10, 2018 8:23 AM

R26 - yes!!!

Whenever I hear anyone say ‘I know, right?’ I sigh a little - remembering the great, unmade Jeniffer Anniston movie that could have been...

Dammit! I’ll do it here too! >sigh<

by Anonymousreply 40December 10, 2018 8:25 AM

Yes, it's far more of a risk for an older mother to have a child. Men still can create problems with their ancient sperm though. About my friend's brother, he's a doctor and met his wife when she was 19 or 20. He was on a medical aid mission to a foreign country and all her family had died. He brought her back to the US and married her. We both think it's a bit creepy, but they honestly seem happy.

by Anonymousreply 41December 10, 2018 8:36 AM

What's with that extra "n" that people keep sticking in her last name?

And also, good for her for acknowledging that not every woman has to become a breed sow.

It's an unpopular attitude among heteros, but it needs to be said.

by Anonymousreply 42December 10, 2018 8:41 AM

People on Datalounge have forgotten about a couple of real Hollywood insiders who came on DL who said Jennifer Aniston is really a Lesbian. I think Justin Theroux is gay as well, and they were bearding for each other. BTW, Justin Theroux is an extremely gorgeous stud! They said she doesn't like men near her. Aside from that, I think her acting is really overrated and stinks.

I do think there are people who have children who shouldn't have kids. There has been this huge baby boom ,especially in Hollywood, which the thinking is, well all of the others are doing it! I need to do it to! Its this stupid band wagon mentality that society has embraced. BTW, for years, and years it has been always thought that men could have kids when they are 1,000 years and women are not able to have children past a certain. In contrast, scientists around 10-20 years ago have found out that men also have issues when they hit a certain age and their ability to have children decreases greatly. Men experience problems having children when they are older either their ability to reproduce declines dramatically or their children are born with health issues.

by Anonymousreply 43December 10, 2018 9:11 AM

If you're wealthy, the biological clock is less of an issue. I know two women age 50 plus who both became pregnant and gave birth with a lot of Technology. Expensive technology. So that might be what is always been in the back of Aniston's mind. If she wanted to have a baby oh, she can certainly afford all the science involved.

by Anonymousreply 44December 10, 2018 11:15 AM

R22 and you need to hone your reading comprehension skills. I too was calling the stereotype bullshit. But it persists on DL. Have you read the comments? "So-and-so actor is not yet married or in a serious relationship and is nearly 40, so he must be gay!"

Many straight men are choosing not to get married or settling down with one partner. But when an actor does it "he must be hiding in plain sight."

by Anonymousreply 45December 10, 2018 12:19 PM

I think a lot of the "biological clock" is a woman's parents who want to be able to brag about their daughter's wedding and who want grandkids to make them feel more fulfilled. Men aren't immune to this pressure, either, from their own parents. Straight married couples who don't have kids are thought to be selfish or immature.

The pressure is rooted in religion. It's easier to make more members than to recruit nonbelievers. Therefore, people were pressured, even obligate, to couple up and churn out the kids. A few years back, the Japanese government was concerned about it's decreasing population, and so it encouraged companies to let fertile-aged companies leave work early on Fridays with the hopes that they would boink and produce a baby boom of new citizens.

The planet has enough people (maybe too many) and no one should feel obligated to create more.

by Anonymousreply 46December 10, 2018 12:59 PM

Jennifer is uber wealthy so could afford all the specialists and medical interventions to get pregnant at 50. But she must have heard by now how physically and emotionally gruelling all that would be.

She could also afford to adopt domestically or internationally.

Her relationship with her Mom was very difficult so maybe she realized she was not interested in parenthood, especially as a single parent. It's refreshing that she's finally admitting it. If only more people put a lot more thought into whether they are cut out for becoming parents.

by Anonymousreply 47December 10, 2018 1:00 PM

I get what she’s saying though it wasn’t worded especially well.

Mothers, even ones of Millennials, tut and sigh and bemoan the “lonely” fates of childless people so much that it creates pressure. The religious Frau ones are the most vehement. I was struck by that recently when listening to Millennial comedian Josh Peck discuss his impending fatherhood, which placated his younger wife and especially his single Uber-Jewish mother. Josh himself maintains that he views it selfish to live a life without kids past one’s early 30s, but does take into consideration the mental/psych stability of certain people which may call their aptitude for parenthood into question. His father died in jail without them ever meeting so I assume he knows of what he speaks.

Courtney Cox endured IVF and succeeded after multiple miscarriages. I believe they are still close friends so maybe Jennifer didn't want to endure all of that after hearing about what it's really like.

IVF is not the magic solution to becoming a mom that the billion dollar infertility industry wants you to believe. Plus she'd need to use both egg and sperm donors and that can be an emotional landmine too.

R47 I don't think she could say it before now because it was too controversial. Women between a certain age range are expected to pine after babies or be considered odd.

She is now at the age where people assume she is not going to have kids so it is easier for her to talk now.

Buddha teaches that this body is not Self (anatta). Penetrate this delusion and you'll naturally transcend the body's impulse of reproduction. If you see yourself as just this limited body and person that comprise Self, there is then the natural exclusion of what is not considered as Self. People try to compensate the limited feeling by inclusion of family, friends, lover etc., but the root cause isn't dealt with, which is limited identification with that which is not Self.

Yes there are a few issues with sperm from older men but the sperm is not old. Sperm is created "fresh" regularly. Eggs ARE old. Women do not create new eggs. They may buy fresher eggs but they can not lay them. In fact, that is what older women do, a fairly recent trend has been to use eggs from younger women and combine it with their partner's sperm.

Aniston has been milking the "wannabe a mom" narrative since her 20s. If anyone is hounding her she primarily brought in on herself.

by Anonymousreply 66December 12, 2018 3:51 PM

I think men and women should be proud if they don't want children and should speak out.

by Anonymousreply 67December 12, 2018 3:55 PM

Biological clock is as real as it can get. I think she is too old to have children. Grannies having children seems stupid to me.

by Anonymousreply 68December 12, 2018 3:57 PM

Sandra Bullock, Charlize Theron and Jeniffer Aniston are well known full blown lipstick lesbians. Not bisexual, but lesbians. Anyone working in this business knows this. The former two had IVF, typical route for gays with some dignity who won't touch the opposite sex for a child. Rumor has it that Aniston dislikes children and this is all a front.

by Anonymousreply 69December 12, 2018 4:17 PM

R27, my aunt had her one and only at 51. Over 60 years ago. Long before ordinary people has access to any technology. He’s fine, runs the family business. It’s certainly not common but women older than 45 do have kids. Rachael Weisz did recently, I’m not sure if there was intervention.

I don't think Jennifer wanted to mess up her body by having a child.

by Anonymousreply 73December 12, 2018 5:43 PM

Charlize has said she would never have a biological child because she didn’t want to continue her father’s messed-up genetic line.

by Anonymousreply 74December 12, 2018 6:00 PM

Jennifer Aniston is as constructed a celebrity as you will ever find. I was just in the supermarket and she's on the cover of US or the other one with "Jenn's Story, exclusive ..." blah blah blah. Another bullshit fake interview that she and her team actually write and then present it to the publication to print word-for-word.

She's a fake. A fraud. A complete poser and weirdo and ignorant and low-level intellect.

by Anonymousreply 75December 12, 2018 6:02 PM

Before the Pill, women had children in their 40s, some even in their early 50s. But you're really taking a huge risk of miscarrying or having a stillborn or developmentally disabled child.

Jennifer has plenty of money so the fact that she doesn't pay to have a child with an egg and sperm donor via a younger surrogate makes me think she's just not interested in parenthood. Again, refreshing that she's put thought into it. May more people be inspired to do the same.

by Anonymousreply 76December 12, 2018 10:22 PM

Wealthy women who reject parenthood are selfish careerists.

by Anonymousreply 77December 12, 2018 10:42 PM

I commend her for not having a prop baby to "fit in". That's a Kardashian move. Maybe she loves working (and making money) and spending all her spare time with friends and doesn't want to spend all her time changing diapers and pushing around a stroller. If she wanted a baby, she has plenty enough money to buy one, custom ordered, and delivered directly to her without having to go through 9 months of pregnancy. But maybe she just doesn't want that.

by Anonymousreply 78December 13, 2018 12:27 AM

At her age, I don’t see why she’d want a kid.

She’s set up for a nice easy life of dating, working on the projects she wants, traveling, and leisure in her 50s and beyond.

The decision to have a child or not is a private one, but it takes place, in America, in a culture that often equates womanhood with motherhood. Any national discussion about the struggle to reconcile womanhood with modernity tends to begin and end with one subject: parenting. If you're a woman who's not in the mommy trenches, more often than not you're excluded from the discussion. But being sidelined doesn't exempt childless women from being scolded. - Lauren Sandler
