When did dancing become so stupid?
Went to my niece's dance recital, at my sister's insistence.
I was expecting ballet, or tap, or jazz or even modern dance.
What I saw was a group of seven girls, dressed like hoochie mamas bouncing around, flailing their limbs, shaking their butts and thrusting the air, jumping, hopping and looking absurd.
The dance teacher was a 50 something morbidly obese woman who can't see her own feet so much as have the ability to teach dance.
I'm not a theater queen but Goddamn I can't believe that's what passes for dance today.

Your niece is a ho. Be nice to her because you may need her grandbabies to change your diaper in 20 years.

Trouble with a capital T and that rhymes with D and that stands for dance!

Haha it's been like this for along time. Every talent show starting in middle school consists of groups of girls bumping and grinding on stage to some pop crap. Schools don't dare crack down or else they would be publicly accused of "shaming " these precious little hussies. Look at the media hysteria every time public schools attempt to set any dress boundaries.

I just went to a Christmas event which had lots of different entertainment stages set up around a town square one if which featured young girls under ten dressed in Chrstmas type costumes , pole dancing. How this came to be part of the general entertainment was hard enough to fathom, and you could feel people’s emotional shift from g neural good cheer to confusion/concern as they passed the girls, and then I overheard a group of young guys in skinny jeans and beards go by saying to each other “I’m not sure that’s appropriate”.
If frat boys are wondering if girls are being over sexual used, I think it’s safe to say a line was crossed.

I didn't want to get into the issue of over sexualizing kids but honestly 12 and 13 year old girls--or boys--should not be wearing skimpy clothing and grinding around like that. It's gross when adults do it and more so with kids.
And the dancing really was shit. Like I wrote, just a lot of flailing limbs and body shaking. No artistry at all.

The dancing that’s popular now is to draw attention to one’s ass so guys will want to fuck it. Straight and gay alike. Sad when kids do it.

Don’t worry, OP. I’m sure your stupid sister will see to it that your whore niece ruins herself with tampons soon enough and then you can permanently sever yourself from them. So, there is bright side to all this.

OP, sometimes I doubt your commitment to Sparkle Motion.

Question - how do fat people like Abby Lee even teach those kinds of dance moves? I don't imagine she can actually do them herself.

I agree OP, bad dancing, bad choreography, bad costumes demand a certain type of punishment

What were the routines like of the other groups in the recital? This concept intrigues me.

R16 my preteen niece's group were the youngest kids then the younger teens did some kind of acro routine, then the older teens did a hip-hop routine then an older girl did a solo routine that looked like something out of Michael Jackson's Bad video.

I always wondered about that Abby Lee person. Was she ever a dancer? My sisters dance instructors were all former dancers and all had dancers builds. She took ballet and jazz.

Thank you OP/R18! How risqué were the other routines in comparison to your niece’s?
