If any group of deranged people can find the following, it is you DLers...... I have looked high and low for the short, short 10 second pieces they did when they came back from commercial break or were going to one.... it was Catherine O'Hara doing a Valley Girl. I can't find them because they weren't a "piece" but more like a quick filler between pieces. Catherine was her perfectly absurd self and it used to make me laugh until I cried. Please, DL? Anyone remember?

I loved Lutonian Christmas but they took it off YouTube and I can't find it anywhere else.

by Anonymousreply 47December 6, 2018 1:58 AM

"The artificial Christmas tree was invented in Lutonia, where trees are extinct."

by Anonymousreply 48December 6, 2018 1:59 AM

That show was perfection. SNL is junior High School compared to SCTV.

by Anonymousreply 49December 6, 2018 2:11 AM

There aren't any clips of it but Martin Short doing Brock Linehan - a send up of Brian Linehan- was hilarious.

by Anonymousreply 50December 6, 2018 2:14 AM

Yes, it was funnier but a lot if their humor was celebrity-derived and young people can't relate to it today. They don't know who Perry Como was or that there really were comics as annoying, overconfident, obsequious and cringeworthily sentimental some comics were, like Bobbie Bittman. That whole Rat Pack, Tonight Show culture with people like Joey Heatherton and Sammy Davis Jr is unknown to later generations. And the late night ads for music cassette tapes were ubiquitous when we were growing up, but were gone by the time CDs were taking over, let alone downloads

O'Hara has situs inversus, a rare congenital condition in which all of an individual's internal organs in the thorax and abdomen are positioned on the opposite side to where they should be.[14][15]

Stupid people hated it, preferring the lowbrow crap on SNL and Fridays instead. I'm talking the early 80s when SNL's original cast had left and the quality plummeted.
