Who remember them? There were a gazillion of them (8 bros and sisters in the group, 9 more at home) and they had a ton of hits from the mid to late ‘80s.
Ugliest motherfuckers ever to be put in a music video.

I think I've got a Crush on You r1.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | December 2, 2018 7:35 PM |
The lead singer in this hit of theirs was kind of cute.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | December 2, 2018 7:53 PM |
Fuck off R2. Seriously. Take your shit stirring somewhere else. Fucking snowflake.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | December 2, 2018 7:59 PM |
What happened to them? They did have loads of hits and were on the radio a lot. I totally forgot, until today.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | December 2, 2018 8:29 PM |
Did they have a ton of hits though? I only remember Crush on You and Rocket 2 U.
They were like a Polynesian version of the DeBarge family.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | December 2, 2018 8:39 PM |
Weren't they Prince protegés?
by Anonymous | reply 7 | December 2, 2018 8:40 PM |
The Sharks were better dancers.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | December 2, 2018 8:40 PM |
r1 r4 I knew there was something special about you. The charm just ooozes, like a festering wound.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | December 2, 2018 9:10 PM |
You Got It All was their biggest hit. Very ugly but I love their songs “Curiosity” and “Sending All My Love”.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | December 2, 2018 9:17 PM |
Loved this group. They filed for bankruptcy. Still play Vegas sometimes. I had a dog in college named after one of the members!
by Anonymous | reply 11 | December 2, 2018 9:21 PM |
Where in Vegas? Nobody would recognize them nowadays.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | December 2, 2018 9:26 PM |
They were easily my favorite Samoan family band of the 1980s...
by Anonymous | reply 13 | December 2, 2018 9:26 PM |
R2, yeah, the lead singer on "Rocket 2 U" was a cutie!
by Anonymous | reply 14 | December 2, 2018 9:35 PM |
Moana Wolfgramm - what a name!
by Anonymous | reply 15 | December 2, 2018 9:40 PM |
I thought they were hawaiian.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | December 2, 2018 9:41 PM |
Weren’t they from Tonga? If there were 18 of them that’s a sizable segment of the Tongalese population.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | December 2, 2018 9:42 PM |
Lead singer Elizabeth was 12 when they recorded You Got it All. Fucking 12! And 14 in the video!
by Anonymous | reply 18 | December 2, 2018 9:43 PM |
Two of the sibs were adopted. One of them was the hot redhead Gene, who changed his surname to “Hunt” and left the group to form the duo Boys Club, who were referred to as the Minneapolis version of WHAM! They had a minor hit with “I Remember Holding You”.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | December 2, 2018 9:47 PM |
12? She looks older. Maybe they mature young in Tonga. She looks marrying age
by Anonymous | reply 20 | December 2, 2018 9:47 PM |
I thought “Make It Real” was pretty, if not for the singers plaintive lead vocal.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | December 2, 2018 9:49 PM |
I mean, if ONLY for the singers lead vocal
by Anonymous | reply 22 | December 2, 2018 9:50 PM |
I loved “Crush on You” and “Rocket 2 U.”
And Rolling Stone used to ask music stars for their favorite song of the year for the year-end issue; Nancy Wilson of Heart picked The Jets’ “Private Number” as her favorite song of 1986. Which shocked me so much, That I still remember it...
by Anonymous | reply 23 | December 2, 2018 9:50 PM |
They had hit after hit. With the exception of “Curiosity" and “Private Number”, every single they released from 1985-1988 was a top 20 (“Crush on You”, "Private Number”, "You Got It All”, "Cross My Broken Heart", "I Do You”, "Rocket 2 U", and “Make It Real"). “I Do You” was the only one to miss the top 10.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | December 2, 2018 9:58 PM |
[quote]Nancy Wilson of Heart picked The Jets’ “Private Number” as her favorite song of 1986.
That’s so cool.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | December 2, 2018 9:58 PM |
I really enjoyed them at the time. I thought the boys were really cute.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | December 2, 2018 10:08 PM |
It’s cool that Nancy Wilson gushed over a forgotten band? Lmao!
by Anonymous | reply 27 | December 2, 2018 10:30 PM |
They weren’t forgotten at the time, Rose.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | December 2, 2018 10:32 PM |
No bitch but they were forgotten as soon as 1989 came in.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | December 2, 2018 10:34 PM |
R27, It's cool that Nancy Wilson had a response that was not your typical "cool" answer.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | December 2, 2018 10:34 PM |
It was not a good idea to name your band after an nfl team
by Anonymous | reply 31 | December 2, 2018 10:36 PM |
I liked them.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | December 2, 2018 10:40 PM |
They weren't my kind of music, but they were pretty big back in the day.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | December 2, 2018 10:43 PM |
Fun fact, Haini was the singer on the Duck Tales theme
by Anonymous | reply 34 | December 2, 2018 10:44 PM |
[quote]It was not a good idea to name your band after an nfl team
They derived their name from Elton’s “Bennie and the Jets”.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | December 2, 2018 10:45 PM |
The also sang the CHIP AND DALE RESCUE RANGER theme song
by Anonymous | reply 36 | December 2, 2018 10:46 PM |
With so many in their group, they probably ended up with a small net worth over time, since they had to divide profits.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | December 2, 2018 10:48 PM |
[quote]No bitch but they were forgotten as soon as 1989 came in.
But Nancy’s statement was made in 1986, not 1989. This is not rocket science.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | December 2, 2018 10:48 PM |
Another fun fact - You got it all was written by Rupert Holmes who wrote the Pina Colada song.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | December 2, 2018 10:51 PM |
There was a Filipino family in my church, 6 girls and one boy who were going to be the next Jets, dontchaknow. They didn't have any original songs or original dances so they just imitated that Rocket 2 U video. And they didn't have costumes either. And they only practiced like three times. Then two or three of the girls got pregnant.
So, sadly, there was no next Jets band coming out of that family.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | December 2, 2018 10:56 PM |
Another fun fact: Boy George wrote "Look, No Strings," the non-album B-side of their "Private Number" single.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | December 2, 2018 11:01 PM |
Did they R35? I always thought it was from 'Jet' magazine.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | December 2, 2018 11:26 PM |
Did they have AIDS?
by Anonymous | reply 43 | December 2, 2018 11:50 PM |
“Cross My Broken Heart” from Beverly Hills Cop II
by Anonymous | reply 44 | December 2, 2018 11:56 PM |
R45 what a horrible cheap video
by Anonymous | reply 46 | December 2, 2018 11:58 PM |
They are Mormons. I'm not sure why so many Pacific Islanders are drawn to that religion.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | December 3, 2018 12:01 AM |
[quote]cheap video
But the song is beautiful.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | December 3, 2018 12:04 AM |
The video for I Do You was filmed at the famous First Avenue club in Minneapolis (Prince’s stomping ground seen in Purple Rain).
by Anonymous | reply 49 | December 3, 2018 12:05 AM |
I bought into that entire genre, hook ,line and sinker! Life seemed carefree at the time, even though I was poor as a church mouse.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | December 3, 2018 12:06 AM |
“Rocket 2 U” Soul Train Line (Rosie Perez @1:25)
by Anonymous | reply 51 | December 3, 2018 12:12 AM |
Ugly family!
by Anonymous | reply 52 | December 3, 2018 12:35 AM |
Aw. r45, that is a beautiful song, I remember them now . Still a cheap video.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | December 3, 2018 12:47 AM |
Cheap video or not, the song is gorgeous.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | December 3, 2018 12:48 AM |
I read somewhere that some of them still perform together but mostly gospel.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | December 3, 2018 4:15 AM |
r47 I think the Mormons got to Them first lol and that’s basically it.
