I hate Microsoft OneDrive.

I am elder gay-ish (35) and something of a Luddite. I remember a simpler time of floppy disks and USB drives. When I save a document in Word, Excel, or PowerPoint, I don't want it saved to the Cloud. I want it ON MY LAPTOP. I have changed countless settings on my machine and it STILL continues to save to OneDrive.

Why????

You're in the last percentile sweetie, a gayling by DL's standards. You are going to come away just FINE!

I miss these.

(Not really. I always used to forget to remove them from the computers in my university library.)

I used to save my shit on cassettes.

OP you're obviously not changing the correct settings. Follow the instructions here to stop your system from automatically saving files to OneDrive. It worked for me.

Thanks, r5. I think perhaps I need to restart my computer for some of these changes to take effect.

Also, I have a number of files that are saved in OneDrive that I'd like back on my laptop.

I thought it was starting to stink in there.

Also, if you don't want OneDrive to even run just go into the OD settings and unselect the option for OD to start up each time Windows starts up.

You know, you can set up a local folder on your laptop to synchronize with OneDrive, so there'll be a local copy and a cloud copy of your documents.

Plus, there is a "Save as..." menu choice that allows you to pick your file's destination.
