Why not invite Richard Benjamin and Raquel Welch as well? I'd go.

It's one of my favorite movies, with an amazing cast and script.

[quote] And yes [R2], she did.
R2 said "he" was a scene stealer, not "she", R3.

Add Ian McShane to the invitation list.
Among the reasons to love Sheila (thank you, IMDb)...
Many of the actors are playing other famous people in Hollywood. For example, James Mason's character is based on an Orson Welles persona. Richard Benjamin is playing Anthony Perkins. Raquel Welch was told by the film's writers, Anthony Perkins and Stephen Sondheim that she was playing Ann-Margret - when, in fact, she was actually playing herself.
The character of Christine played by Dyan Cannon is based upon Hollywood mega-agent Sue Mengers who was Cannon's agent at the time. Sue Mengers was, in fact, originally offered the part. She declined claiming she couldn't act and recommended her client Dyan Cannon for the part. Both Cannon and Richard Benjamin had been previous clients of Sue Mengers.
In the sequence at the monastery, one of the characters states that the setting looks like one from a Hammer movie. Actress Yvonne Romain, who briefly appears as the titular character Sheila, starred in horror movies produced by Hammer, like "Curse of the Werewolf" (1961) and "Captain Clegg" (1962).
The first ever cinema movie featuring a song performed by Bette Midler (this was the track "Friends").
In one scene a television is showing 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (1954), a film starring James Mason and mainly set on a sea-going vessel. The Last of Sheila (1973) also stars James Mason and is also set mainly on a sea-going vessel.
From working on this film, actor James Mason famously once said of co-star actress Raquel Welch that she was "the most selfish, ill-mannered, inconsiderate actress that I have ever had the displeasure of working with".

I had to watch it twice (and actually take notes the second time), to understand the plot. I'm dumb that way

Weren't they going to remake it at one point? Probably too clever for today's audience.

I recently read Dyan Cannon's memoir about her life and marriage with Cart Grant. She was madly in love with him but there were a lot of problems. He induced her to take LSD frequently and a doctor told her that it was harming her. She gave him the only child he ever had.
