She was, as far as the public knows, a stable person for most of her life. Then she hits her 50's and she's falling apart. I don't get it. If she had a problem like Bi-polar it would have already been a problem when she was younger. I guess she developed an addiction/alcohol problem. Ritchie had a party for daughter Ava who turned 21 over the weekend at his house which was just a private party. Heather, her parents and her boyfriend/fiancé were there. No alcohol was served as a courtesy to Heather. Everything seemed fine and Heather and boyfriend left after awhile.

She probably turned to drugs and alcohol to deal with losing her looks. Not that she's a toad, but to go from stunning Hollywood blonde to attractive middle-aged woman can be a lot to deal with, especially if being stunning is all you've ever known (and she was always beautiful, even as an adolescent, when most people are awkward as hell). Especially if you live in LA, where 35 is considered over-the-hill for an actress, that sort of thing could seriously fuck with mental stability. The only way to deal with it is to cultivate inner resources, and a lot of beautiful people never bother to do that.

Yes, you CAN get late onset bipolar disorder and schizophrenia but it's uncommon and usually affects men. It's more likely to be a substance abuse issue.

Years ago I worked in a mental institution and one of the patients used to be a wealthy businessman who did too much coke and it completely fried his brain. He was in and out of hospitals, babbling about how Frank Sinatra was spying on him and how he was Jesus Christ. The meds just quieted him down but he was still nuts.
