What are your favorite QUEEN songs? Also, which do you dislike?

I personally love

My Fairy King (actually love their first album period) Killer Queen Radio Ga Ga I Want To Break Free We Are The Champions Another one bites the dust Somebody to Love I’m in Love With My Car

Dislike...

Most of their “Hot Space” and “The Miracle” albums.

And I’ve always been indifferent to Bohemian Rhapsody, despite it bringing them to worldwide mega star success. It has amazing lyrics but then goes nuts for no reason. It’s genius. It a genius I care too little about.

You?

I like We are the champions, crazy little thing called love, somebody to love. I discovered many of their songs through American Idol.

I despise bohemian rhapsody and another one bites the dust.

by Anonymousreply 1November 17, 2018 6:54 AM

Love most of their oeuvre. Hate "Fat Bottomed Girls" and not too fond of that bicycle one.

by Anonymousreply 2November 17, 2018 7:01 AM

Didnt like them in the '70's. Or '80's. Dont get the resurgence today. Freddie Mercury Rock God Sex Symbol? HARDLY. Novelty songs. Crap. His "macho" clone phase is cringe inducing.

by Anonymousreply 3November 17, 2018 7:21 AM

R3 they had some good ones. Don’t be like that.

by Anonymousreply 4November 17, 2018 5:59 PM

So many great ones that are less well known or weren't in the movie like Death on Two Legs, It's a Kind of Magic, Get Down Make Love, Sheer Heart Attack, and Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy

by Anonymousreply 5November 17, 2018 6:37 PM

It's a Kind of Magic is their most underrated track by far

by Anonymousreply 6November 17, 2018 6:39 PM

The Show Must Go On

by Anonymousreply 7November 17, 2018 6:42 PM

My Fairy King is their best track

by Anonymousreply 8November 17, 2018 6:43 PM

"Killer Queen," darling! I think I was about age 12 when my brother caught me prancing around the dining room with a scarf as I played it on our old-timey stereo.

[quote]Hate "Fat Bottomed Girls" and not too fond of that bicycle one.

Between Fat Bottomed Girls and Mother Love, Brian May must have some interesting issues...

In the Lap of the Gods, Killer Queen, White Queen, Stone Cold Crazy, Somebody to Love, 39, Innuendo, The Show Must Go On, Bohemian Rhapsody. Also the video for Breakthru just because it's fun.

Hate We Will Rock You and their music hall influence which annoyed me about the A Night at the Opera album.

by Anonymousreply 10November 17, 2018 7:01 PM

Favorite: Killer Queen (thank you for the video, R9!).

Least favorite: Bohemian Rhapsody, which has been grossly over-played, and Bicycle Race.

To be honest, I don't like most of Queen's music. I'm interested in the band because, and ONLY because, I think that Freddie Mercury had one of the greatest voices of the 20th century.

by Anonymousreply 11November 17, 2018 7:06 PM

Ah, where to begin. Current favorites are Dragon Attack, Millionaire Waltz, Was It All Worth It, live version of White Queen, Great King Rat, Innuendo, Brighton Rock, It's Late, My Melancholy Blues and Sail Away Sweet Sister. But that's just the last couple of months. My favorites keep changing.

I dislike most of Jazz and The Works albums.

I've seen Bohemian Rhapsody (film) twice now and while it's a bit dodgy with timeline I liked it better the second time and still can't figure out why some people think it's homophobic. The only scene that didn't sit well with me is the press conference scene.

by Anonymousreply 12November 18, 2018 12:31 AM

under pressure.

by Anonymousreply 13November 18, 2018 1:25 AM

R12 I didn’t like the Press Conference scene either. Felt out of place and forced.

The rest of the film flowed nicely and was actually fun. People seem to be loving it. Look at how much it’s making.

I like some of The Works. I like Radio Ga Ga and I Want To Be Free a lot. The rest is meh.

Hot Space is the one I didn’t like. Was gay club music. I get why Roger and Brian took issue with it and it caused a rift in the group.

by Anonymousreply 14November 18, 2018 1:40 AM

“Who Wants To Live Forever” is my favorite

I love the WHOLE album, "jazz"

by Anonymousreply 19November 18, 2018 3:03 AM

Can't imagine any bands nowadays writing music this good.

by Anonymousreply 20November 18, 2018 3:16 AM

Crazy Little Thing Called Love is the only one I like.

Hate Bohemian Rhapsody and am indifferent to everything else I’ve heard, but I only know what was on the radio. I had a huge LP collection which later became a huge CD collection, yet was never interested in buying a Queen album.

by Anonymousreply 21November 18, 2018 3:17 AM

Did you know that Roger Taylor has a huge statue of Freddie in his garden? This is not news, but Roger posted on instagram a pic of him next to the statue so it just reminded me how nutty Roger is. It's the same statue that stood above the marquee of Dominion Theatre for years.

by Anonymousreply 22November 22, 2018 12:14 PM

That is crazy. You can judge from that picture how big it is. Wonder if he needed planning permission or the like. The original statue is the one in Montreux which was commissioned as a memorial for Freddie Mercury in lieu of a physical grave.

Like Don't stop me now and Under pressure (but mostly Bowie's bits. Sorry Freddie). Hate Bohemian raphsody and dislike most of their other songs. I realise I'm in the minority here, but I don't like Freddie's voice much, though I accept he was technically accomplished I just don't like the way it sounds.

by Anonymousreply 24November 22, 2018 12:48 PM

Love Killer Queen and You’re My Best Friend.

Hate We Will Rock You, which is unfortunate because you still hear it everywhere.

by Anonymousreply 25November 22, 2018 12:52 PM

Drowse, the best where Freddy isn't on vocals.

by Anonymousreply 26November 22, 2018 12:54 PM

"Somebody to Love" is my favorite

However to be honest, George Michael performing it with Queen at the Freddie Mercury tribute concert is SO turned that into the definitive version

by Anonymousreply 27November 22, 2018 12:54 PM

Killer Queen, Somebody to Love, Crazy Little Thing, Bo Rap, We Are The Champions

by Anonymousreply 28November 22, 2018 12:58 PM

R27 you are right. GM is transcendent in that cut.

by Anonymousreply 29November 22, 2018 12:58 PM

R17 beat me to it. Beautiful song tho hard to watch the video. LOVE Radio Ga Ga. It's been difficult to listen to that song since 2008.

by Anonymousreply 30November 22, 2018 1:03 PM

r27 this is the definitive version of Somebody to Love

Radio Ga Ga is incredible and under appreciated.

by Anonymousreply 32November 22, 2018 2:39 PM

Somebody to Love is the quintessential Queen song.

Love of My Life One Vision I Want to Break Free Killer Queen Lazing on a Sunday Afternoon Good Old Fashioned Loverboy

by Anonymousreply 34November 22, 2018 3:15 PM

I love "Brighton Rock." It tells a fun little romantic story, the guitar solo's great, and the falsetto parts are cute.

I’ve grown to LOVE “I Want To Break Free”

by Anonymousreply 37February 2, 2019 2:29 AM

I once saw Elton John end his concert with The Show Must Go On as a tribute to Freddie Mercury. I had never heard the song before, but enjoyed hearing it so much I immediately ran out to buy the original.

by Anonymousreply 38February 2, 2019 2:37 AM

I like this one because the video is an early one.

It's Late, Dragon Attack, Dancer, Dead on Time, 39, Seaside Rendezvous, Keep Yourself Alive, Who Needs You, Leaving Home Ain't Easy, You're My Best Friend, Somebody to Love

by Anonymousreply 40February 2, 2019 3:10 AM

I just love him! IMHO He did so much for our gay culture. He projected a sense of self, confident, carefree, and sexual. I applaud him. He is my Champion. He owned his sexuality and lived his truth.

Ok, Queens, let me have it.

by Anonymousreply 41February 2, 2019 3:19 AM

Crazy Little Thing Called Love and Another One Bite Bites the Dust are my favorites. Their later stuff is underrated.

by Anonymousreply 42February 2, 2019 3:22 AM

I’m with R17. These are the Days of Our Lives is my favorite Queen song and that video is heartbreaking. I also love Show Must Go On. Don’t Stop Me Now is my second fave.

They had a few catchy songs in a dumb way but they were a crap band. No serious rock fan in the 70s or 80s liked Queen.

BS, r44. In the '70s, Brian May was regarded as one of the best guitar players in rock. John Deacon and Roger Taylor were also respected.

by Anonymousreply 46February 2, 2019 5:58 AM

It's a Hard Life is a great later song. I loved their first three albums.

by Anonymousreply 47February 2, 2019 6:23 AM

She Makes Me (Stormtrooper in Stillettos) is a GREAT one from their “Sheer Heart Attack” album

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 48February 2, 2019 3:40 PM

She makes me, r48? Sheer Hear Attack is my favorite (and Queen II, of course), but She Makes Me is the weakest song on the album. But then, I like Hot Space so... to each his own.

by Anonymousreply 49February 2, 2019 5:49 PM

I didn’t say it was then best on the album. I said I liked it.

by Anonymousreply 50February 2, 2019 5:58 PM

Love most of their songs.

by Anonymousreply 51August 5, 2019 10:12 PM

The only one I hate is we Will Rock You because it sounds like a war chant.

Favorites are Killer Queen and Somebody to Love. But I like all of them. Bohemian Rhapsody was overplayed (not when it was rel3eased so much as in 1990 or so when it was brought back for Wayne's World), but I admire it so much.

I still love that Freddie Mercury's last stage incarnation was basically as a gay rough trade musclewhore, and he was admired around the world for it!

by Anonymousreply 52August 5, 2019 10:16 PM

After seeing Bohemian Rhapsody I have zero interest in Queen or their songs. Brian May and Roger Taylor can get fucked.

by Anonymousreply 53August 5, 2019 10:20 PM

"Hammer To Fall"

by Anonymousreply 54August 5, 2019 10:46 PM

Correction.
