Actress Tyne Daly Comes Out as Ugly
Earlier this week was National Coming Out Day. As a ugly woman I can’t quite understand what it’s like to come out. However I do know what it’s like to sometimes not be accepted for being mistaken for a gargoyle.
I was raised predominantly by ogres with my brother being the "Marilyn Munster" of the picture. Growing up I developed some grotesque mannerisms from it, plenty of which I still have to this day. This led to a lot of people questioning my reason for living during my teenage years. I found myself frustrated over having to defend my right to life, sometimes to complete strangers. Not because I had anything against being beautiful, it was just exhausting to have people that didn’t even know me treat me differently and claim that they “knew” all about me based on hideousness.

She matured into her looks, but she was indeed a gargoyle when she was younger. I've seen some early-mid 70s TV movies she did and she was really hard on the eyes. She started to equalize around the time she made The Enforcer. Daly is someone on whom a little extra weight helps.

I do not see ugly. Maybe not the classical idea of a beautiful actress, but I do find her compelling in her roles. In fact young, she has a slight Sandra Bullock look.

Not OP, but this is a TV movie from 1971 that Tyne was in called A Howling in the Woods. Go to 55:22 and watch for the next few seconds or so. You'll see a young Tyne. She definitely had not grown into her looks at this point. Also, this is a surprisingly good TV movie. Not at all what I was expecting.

I think she was beautiful in that picture of her youth. WTF is she or anyone talking about. I thought she was lovely in the Enforcer and in C&L and even in Judging Amy and I think now on MB she looks the most beautiful of her life. Her weight is perfect for her now and gray hair really is her color.

She has a really strong, distinctive face with a beautiful smile and gorgeous bone structure. I think she's smashing (although not the Hollywood standard), and I can't understand why OP would start a thread like this--other than having no taste or discernment, of course.

OP is more of an asshole than a humorist.
Tyne Daly has always been attractive enough to remain striking after she aged and put on weight. Attractive/good looking ages better than pretty.
The choice of the word 'ugly' followed by the nastiness was too far removed from actual wit.
