Seriously more fucking Kardashian references. Fuck off already.
A pretty boring interview over all. Nothing scandalous at all.

He also made several outfits for Stephanie Mills when she attempted to change her image.

Bob Mackie - isn't it incredible that he's STILL designing? I see him every once in a while on QVC selling his wares and he always seems to have a reason for why the outfit is designed in a certain manner.
The stories he must have and yet he's an old school gentlemen who doesn't dish. I hope he's written down all of the tales to tell and it will be posthumously published.
I popped over to his Wiki page... he had a son from a short marriage in the 60s. Their son, Robin, died from AIDS-related complications. Mackie's outlived is partner Ray Aghayan as well. They got together in the 70s!

So his son was gay and died of AIDS? Wow.

Bob Mackie is a genius and a class act. In spite of his accomplishments and connections, his apparent humility is to be admired. He is a workhorse who is not satisfied to rest on his accomplishments.
Though he was designer, not a writer, he wrote Carol Burnett's most famous utterance, "I just saw it in the window and couldn't resist," for the "Went with the Wind" skit. It was his suggestion that they leave the curtain rod in her dress. This gag is generally considered the #1 moment from the Carol Burnett Show's run.
He survived and prospered during some crazy times and he definitely made his mark on American culture, but he was never into self-promotion.

R5, I watched one of the Carol Burnett retrospective programs and they discussed the curtain rod dress. The costume was kept secret from everyone except Harvey Korman. They knew he'd fall into hysterics when it was revealed and didn't want that to happen. Of course the rest of the cast had to hold it together which I guess they did.
