What was Diane Lane’s best movie?

Under the Tuscan Sun.

by Anonymousreply 54November 14, 2018 6:03 AM

Unfaithful.

by Anonymousreply 1November 12, 2018 3:02 AM

Streets of Fire and Rumble fish

by Anonymousreply 2November 12, 2018 3:03 AM

Lady Beware. Has anyone seen it?

by Anonymousreply 3November 12, 2018 3:11 AM

Definitely UNFAITHFUL. A good role, right at the center of the story.

Hardball

by Anonymousreply 5November 12, 2018 3:15 AM

UNFAITHFUL might have such a strong role for an actress because it’s a remake of the French LA FEMME INFIDEL (1969)

American writers don’t usually create leads for women like that.

A Walk on the Moon. Diane, Viggo and Liev. Great movie.

I liked her most in her early roles - if you ask me she was one of the most luminous teenage actresses of all time. LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, THE FABULOUS STAINS is my personal fave. That opening scene where her character is interviewed for the TV is priceless. A LITTLE ROMANCE is a close second.

It's just sad that she never had the huge career she deserved, because you rarely see someone with such a great combination of good looks and amazing acting skills. She should've had the career that cunt Julia Roberts went on to have.

Paris Can Wait is a sweet little gem about living spontaneously.

Not sure about her best, but I think I just saw her worst last week: The Glass House. Viewer beware.

Wasn't she in that movie where Ben Affleck played the old TV Superman? I'm pretty sure she was good in that.

I still love Cotton Club. I love it when she told Gere, "This is how these people live. Wise up, sap!" Plus a drop of blood lands just below her eye while she's wearing a sparkly flapper hat. It's the perfect accessory to the outfit.

Unfaithful

by Anonymousreply 14November 12, 2018 3:59 AM

A Little Romance.

R13 Is a sequined skull cap, fucking hot as hell, love that film

Unfaithful

by Anonymousreply 16November 12, 2018 4:00 AM

Paris Can Wait sounds like a mediocre reimagining of Under the Tuscan Sun.

by Anonymousreply 17November 12, 2018 4:01 AM

I liked her in THE OUTSIDERS and RUMBLE FISH too, she was perhaps, outside of Brooke Sheilds, one of the prettiest teenagers I have ever seen... just gorgeous.

by Anonymousreply 18November 12, 2018 4:03 AM

I watch The Glass House everytime it's on the telly - it's howlingly bad, but in a good way. Leelee Sobieski is fascinatingly stiff and it's hilarious how the film suddenly turns into a car chase-filled action flick in the last 10 minutes. But Lane was totally wasted in her role (in more ways than one).

by Anonymousreply 19November 12, 2018 4:06 AM

Diane was wild in The Glass House.

by Anonymousreply 20November 12, 2018 4:16 AM

R17 It has broad similarities to Under the Tuscan Sun (my favorite). Paris Can Wait is about two people getting to know one another, and learning to enjoy simple pleasures and seize the moments that make life worth living.

by Anonymousreply 21November 13, 2018 1:16 AM

Unfaithful. Everyone looked so chic in that movie.

by Anonymousreply 22November 13, 2018 1:42 AM

But, in A Walk on the Moon, you watch the tension between her instincts as a mother and her burgeoning instincts as a woman come to fore. It's a brilliant performance.

by Anonymousreply 23November 13, 2018 2:22 AM

Unfaithful

A Walk on the Moon was 2nd favorite.

I also liked Streets of Fire and Cotton Club I actually don't think there is a bad Diane Lane movie period.

I would say unfaithful.//// but mostly because co star Oliver Martinez was at his absolute hottest point in the looks dept

by Anonymousreply 31November 13, 2018 10:43 PM

Under the Tuscan Sun is one of those odd little movies that I know isn't great, but I can still watch it a thousand times and not tire of it.

by Anonymousreply 32November 13, 2018 10:49 PM

R29 - Wow. Even in that trash, she is so beautiful!!

I love watching her in The Outsiders as well with her "cherry red" hair.

by Anonymousreply 33November 13, 2018 10:56 PM

Oh c’mon that’ ripping sing at the end of Streets of Fire with her in the hot little dress? Even total mo’s were gawking that down.

In France, she would be one of their busiest actresses. But American boy writers don't know what to do with her.

by Anonymousreply 37November 13, 2018 11:08 PM

Rumblefish, Streets of Fire, Lady Beware.

by Anonymousreply 38November 13, 2018 11:09 PM

A Walk on the Moon is a wonderful film.

I've seen her on The Outsiders (super beautiful), Unfaithful, and The Perfect Storm. She was good in all three movies. I don't know which I would say was the best.

by Anonymousreply 41November 13, 2018 11:17 PM

Unfaithful. When she notices the snow globe is back in the living room. Brilliant. But A Walk on the Moon is great too. And with Viggo. I forgot about the Perfect Storm. But that's not much of a part like the others.

by Anonymousreply 42November 13, 2018 11:19 PM

Holly woodland. She played Toni Mannix, the aging, desperate lover of George Reeves, to absolute perfection.

Even Affleck was good in that one.

by Anonymousreply 43November 13, 2018 11:21 PM

Forgot about that one too ^^^. Enjoyed that movie.

by Anonymousreply 44November 13, 2018 11:26 PM

Unfaithful. On the train home she completely captured a woman who just did the deed and had many mixed emotions. It was incredibly realistic.

by Anonymousreply 45November 13, 2018 11:35 PM

I’m going to have check out Lady Beware.

by Anonymousreply 46November 13, 2018 11:41 PM

She was very good in Hollywoodland, but my favorite is still Streets of Fire.

by Anonymousreply 47November 14, 2018 12:29 AM

No mention of me?

by Anonymousreply 48November 14, 2018 12:43 AM

Did she have a best movie? She is undeniably beautiful, but not a terribly great actress. One of my favorite lines from the real Australian (not the horrifying US re-make) Kath & Kim series was when Kath tells Kim about renting "Under the Tuscan Sun". Rather than her usual - "It's noice, it's different, it's unusual", she doesn't particularly care for it but tells Kim that the video store rented the tape with a "never to be returned label" attached to it.

by Anonymousreply 49November 14, 2018 3:04 AM

She was everything in Hollywoodland. That is my vote.

by Anonymousreply 50November 14, 2018 3:07 AM

R50- She is good in it,

r46 it's on you tube but you probably have to pay now.. ( we're only in it for the money...Frank Zappa) .it's only on vhs also.....

she's a great actress.....unfaithful was ....something....for it's time. the ending was nowheresville.

under the tuscan sun was such a fabulous book about the author and her husband moving to italy and rebuilding an old home, and all about that and the food and obv she sold the rights for them to totally rape her story and turn it into the crap that was that movie. i highly recommend the book.

and not using run-on sentences!!

Another vote for Unfaithful. Like R45, I know exactly the roller coaster of emotions an unfaithful spouse goes thru. Diane Lane captured that brilliantly in her post sex train scene.
