Greg Berlanti to SHIT all over Rock Hudson

Why can't he just play with his superhero figurines?

[quote]Greg Berlanti to SHIT all over Rock Hudson

Pics please.

by Anonymousreply 1November 8, 2018 7:10 PM

His love Simon movie was cute, but he doesn't have the talent to direct an oscar contender film like this.

by Anonymousreply 2November 8, 2018 7:13 PM

He kind of shits all over the superhero shows too.

by Anonymousreply 3November 8, 2018 7:16 PM

It's 2018 so you just know it's going to be preachy and tragic...all about the closet and blah...blah...blah...meanwhile the truth is that Rock Hudson was happy, well adjusted, lived how he pleased and knew how to navigate Hollywood.

by Anonymousreply 4November 8, 2018 7:18 PM

Greg Berlanti is known for shitting all over his tricks in the Studio City pied-à-terre he keeps for getting fisted.

by Anonymousreply 5November 8, 2018 7:22 PM

So what's up with berlanti? Who dicks did he ride from those cw shows?

by Anonymousreply 6November 8, 2018 7:27 PM

Well this will be milquetoast.

by Anonymousreply 7November 8, 2018 7:27 PM

[quote] Greg Berlanti to SHIT all over Rock Hudson

He can start with my coffee table!

by Anonymousreply 8November 8, 2018 7:27 PM

I hope they are careful on whom they cast to paly Hudson as that is make or break

by Anonymousreply 9November 8, 2018 7:51 PM

Armie Hammer would have made a good Rock Hudson at one point but now he just annoys the fuck out of everyone.

by Anonymousreply 10November 8, 2018 9:33 PM

Get that loser far away from gay roles, hammer should stick to playing douche jocks in big flops. Get a real gay actor to play rock don't straight wash.

by Anonymousreply 11November 8, 2018 9:48 PM

So c'mon DL, who is he gonna cast?

by Anonymousreply 12November 9, 2018 10:19 PM

Actually, Hammer with dyed hair is a great choice. I guess Jon Hamm's too old.

by Anonymousreply 13November 9, 2018 10:50 PM

I just watched Giant the other night. Hudson stepping off that train in the opening scene was breathtaking, just breathtaking. Nobody I can think of now can touch him. Armie Hammer, lol.

I think he hits peak Rock in the mid-'60s in "The Seconds." He is past his pretty boy phase and looks super manly and a little dissipated, with some sexy dark circles under his eyes. Film is black and white, everyone looks better in b & w.

by Anonymousreply 15November 10, 2018 12:01 AM

Eh. I don't think Greg Berlanti OF ALL PEOPLE will straightwash a ay character.

Also worth noting that all of Simon's love interests on Love, Simon are either gay/bi in real life.

by Anonymousreply 16November 10, 2018 12:08 AM

another misunderstood bisexual, teehee; Germany's main boulevard rag was really angry that they didn't have Freddy Mercury's girlfriend in the movie, the rag pretended that was his main love

by Anonymousreply 17November 10, 2018 12:08 AM

[Quote]Well this will be milquetoast

I am happy for Berlantis success but yeah, this sums up his work pretty well.

by Anonymousreply 18November 10, 2018 1:12 AM

You are all so jealous. Berlanti is a fucking genius. The Arrowverse rocks. Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is AMAZING. Love, Simon was brill. He is a pioneer for LGBTQ representation and this will surely be a major Oscar contender.

by Anonymousreply 19November 10, 2018 1:25 AM

Snort r19.

Throughout Berlantis entire television career he has only managed one Emmy nomination.

But yes, this will certainly been an awards darling....

by Anonymousreply 20November 10, 2018 1:31 AM

Berlanti wrote and directed The Broken Hearts Club which makes me think he'll make Rock an extremely likable character. Dean Cain played a sort of hunky Rock Hudson like star in the film who fucked every man he saw but was in the end still a nice guy.

by Anonymousreply 21November 10, 2018 1:31 AM

Armie Hammer as Rock. Timothée Chalamet as Liz Taylor.. Brilliant!

by Anonymousreply 22November 10, 2018 2:58 AM

being non-American, when I read the title, I somehow thought Rock Hudson is a pornstar.

by Anonymousreply 23November 10, 2018 4:16 AM

r22 FF

by Anonymousreply 24November 10, 2018 4:16 AM

Berlanti is a good fit here. He definitely has it him to be true to Hudson without getting overly sappy. Now who could play Hudson? Jon Hamm would be perfect a bit too old perhaps? Armie Hammer? Lmao. Gotta be joking. We need a good actor with real charisma.

by Anonymousreply 25November 10, 2018 5:38 AM

Love, Simon is trash. This is nervous-making news.

by Anonymousreply 26February 3, 2019 6:12 AM

"everyone looks better in b & w. "

Not people with light eyes!

People with large dark eyes look absolutely fantastic in black and white, and that includes Hudson.

by Anonymousreply 27February 3, 2019 6:28 AM

OP, Rock was into Scat ?

by Anonymousreply 28February 3, 2019 6:35 AM

Who's going to play his husband Jim Nabors?

by Anonymousreply 29February 3, 2019 6:49 AM

Who’s gonna play Rock? Nick Robinson, probably?

by Anonymousreply 30February 3, 2019 7:30 AM

Kyle Dean Massey has a classic film star look. Cast it short and he is perfect.

by Anonymousreply 31February 3, 2019 7:39 AM

He looks like the AIDS version of rock that kissed the lady from Dynasty.

by Anonymousreply 32February 3, 2019 8:38 AM

Please no. Kyle Dean Massey would be swept away by a strong breeze.

Roy "Rock Hudson" Scherer Jr. was a giant slab of former-Navy beef. Berlanti should cast someone convincingly rugged, like rising talent Jake Picking.

by Anonymousreply 35February 3, 2019 9:27 AM

Who will be La Liz and his Dyke's beard wife ?

by Anonymousreply 36February 3, 2019 11:49 AM

As a gay man he has managed to create a ton of tv shows with SHITTY gay representation. I'm talking GAY MALE. Not lesbians. He seems to have a hard on for lesbians, weirdly enough. The lesbians on all of his shows get plenty of screentime, unlike the gays who are neutered and barely there. Anyways, my expectations are low considering he can't write for shit when it comes to gay characters. I can't imagine he'll do a better job portraying a historical real life gay man. This movie will suck for sure.

by Anonymousreply 37February 3, 2019 12:00 PM

If it is indeed an Oscar bait movie the obvious choice for playing Rock Hudson would be Viola Davis.

by Anonymousreply 38February 3, 2019 12:20 PM

I love Berlanti's shows and Love, Simon was pretty decent.

by Anonymousreply 39February 3, 2019 12:24 PM

I would certainly watch if Viola was cast.

by Anonymousreply 40February 3, 2019 1:14 PM

Oh God.

Oscar contender?

by Anonymousreply 42March 5, 2019 11:16 PM

Do you think Sean Cody’s Tanner will be auditioning for the role of Rock? I bet his ass is lubed already .

by Anonymousreply 43March 5, 2019 11:21 PM

I bet Rock would have enjoyed that.

by Anonymousreply 44March 5, 2019 11:22 PM

I hope they cover the UK football players that were pimped out for Rock and friends.

by Anonymousreply 45March 5, 2019 11:29 PM

Matt Bomer? Either him or Glenn Close.

[quote] Greg Berlanti to SHIT all over Rock Hudson

Literally?

by Anonymousreply 47March 6, 2019 1:27 AM

[quote] Matt Bomer? Either him or Glenn Close.

Too soft and feminine looking.

by Anonymousreply 48March 6, 2019 1:41 AM

They better cast an openly gay actor. Oh who am I kidding. Berlanti would never do that.

by Anonymousreply 49March 6, 2019 10:05 PM

I really don't know who could play him.

by Anonymousreply 50March 6, 2019 10:07 PM

Which "straight" actor will win an Oscar for playing him?

by Anonymousreply 51April 23, 2019 10:06 PM

At least humorless aspies sociopath ryan murphy isn’t doing it. It would be some heartless and overly stylized affair.

by Anonymousreply 52April 23, 2019 10:31 PM

Wow that gives me an idea......eight episodes.....FX......"Hudson/Taylor"......ratings bonanza......

by Anonymousreply 53April 23, 2019 10:53 PM

If the guy at r33 gets cast I am boycotting this movie. Rock Hudson was one of the most beautiful people in creation and the guy at r33 looks like a Frankenstein.

If they don’t cast someone near as gorgeous then fuck this movie. Armie is a decent choice.

by Anonymousreply 54April 23, 2019 11:02 PM

The guy at r33 is just some random DLer's choice, no one is casting him in this

by Anonymousreply 55April 23, 2019 11:11 PM

Is there something for Colton?

by Anonymousreply 56April 23, 2019 11:16 PM

Ive read all the hudson biographies and the general impression I get was Hudson was fun loving with a good sense of humor but he was also a chain smoker, was an alcoholic, was incapable of sustaining a mature relationship, etc. So I would say in some respects he was tortured. You have to remember his career peak was in the late 50s, a very conservative different era and his career would have been caput instantly had anything really leaked out.

Casting somebody to play Hudson will be hard as he was this incredibly beautiful giant hulk of a guy with an amazing face that has never been equalled in my opinion. I look forward to what ever they attempt however/

by Anonymousreply 57April 23, 2019 11:25 PM

The Rock.

by Anonymousreply 58April 23, 2019 11:45 PM

I don't like the verb used in this thread title. It makes an unpleasant image.

by Anonymousreply 59November 12, 2019 7:07 AM

I've been offered the role as the ultimate thespian that ever lived but I've passed and suggested they throw a bone to Glennie. Masculine roles are her forte.

by Anonymousreply 60November 12, 2019 7:13 AM

Cody Kearsley as Rock

Greg will de-gay everything about Rock then add a ton of lesbians with a soft porn touch. Just like he does with all of his tv shows. Barely any gay characters, the ones he do have he treats like shit. He has a ton of lesbians on all of his shows though, of course. I will never forgive him for what he did to Kevin on Riverdale, or Moose for that matters.

by Anonymousreply 64November 12, 2019 11:31 AM

OP, R3, R63, R64 all that stuff belongs in a TOILET ! ! !

by Anonymousreply 65November 12, 2019 7:45 PM

rrrr

by Anonymousreply 66November 18, 2019 3:24 AM

If you haven't seen "Seconds," do try to. I think it's Rock's magnum opus. And it always scares the shikkies out of me.
