Judy Davis said she'd loved working with Rush, who had a "very fine reputation"
Judy Davis Throws Her Support Behind Geoffrey Rush
by Anonymous | reply 49 | April 14, 2019 3:09 AM |
Judy looked like scarecrow then she arrived for her day in court.
It appeared as though Judy Davis was channelling Bette Davis dressed for her role in 'Pocketful of Miracles'.
(The poor woman seems to have some strange triangulated flesh-gristle growing in her lower cheeks. Scary! Or perhaps it's grown from a lifetime of grimacing?)

Good for her for sticking up for her friend. I'm so sick of this rats fleeing a sinking ship mentality. I'm also tired of this rule that once someone is accused NO ONE ever, is allowed to defend them or else people will start threatening their careers for having the wrong opinion. I also find it weird how puritanical millenials are given their participation in Hookup and casual sex culture.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | October 31, 2018 8:27 PM |
She told you that, OP?

I'm disappointed that cameras aren't allowed to record these dramatic, revelatory speeches for their fans.
Geoffrey won an Oscar, didn't he?
And Judy must have been nominated a few times

With all due respect, Rush is suing the Daily Telegraph to say they have destroyed his career and reputation.
Judy gave evidence to indicate that, yes, his reputation is destroyed. It's nothing to do with whether
What interests me is how silent Cate Blanchett is, considering she is a huge friend of Rush and used to be director of the Sydney Theatre Company where he performed Lear.

Here you go, R3 - scroll to the final couple of paragraphs.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | October 31, 2018 9:22 PM |
R5 she's probably afraid of the deranged twitter mob. She doesn't want to be written out of movies or lose roles.. I love how all these self righteous twitter mobs are so choosy about what they get upset about. They couldn't care less about the Vietnamese children slaving away for hours making their tech devices or the time Mark Wahlberg blinded a man, but the minute an accusation involves sex it's now Super Duper Serious.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | October 31, 2018 9:22 PM |
*It's nothing to do with whether he sexually harrassed the actress or not.
He is accused of looking at her and licking his lips, brushing his fingers on the bottom half of her breast as he embraced her during Cordelia's death scene, touching the skin above her waistband as he embraced her, sending a her texts with the tongue emoji and following her into the the loo at a wrap party.
I feel bad for her because the newspaper blew what was a series of incidences she tried to deal with privately and told the entire world. I feel bad for him too.
Here is a second hand version of what was said.

He's a cutie, too.

This case is a mess.
I would throw the case out if I were the judge. I would then penalise the various parties in the following proportions to pay the ridiculously high legal costs.
10% to the newspaper who retailed the juicy gossip (they were merely doing what newspapers are paid to do)
10% to Rush who supposedly used some old-fashioned humour to lighten the mood in the rehearsal room for the most dreary, deathly and agonising of major plays.
45% to the naive female blonde snowflake who was chosen to play the naive childlike Cordelia (and was so inept as to be unable to express herself to feelings to Rush in person at the time).
45% to the other silly female blonde snowflake (pictured below) who heard the gossip, blabbed to the press and then escaped the problem by leaving the theatre company.
(The new details about the blabbing are contained in the 4 November 2018 issue of the 'Canberra Times' article by Jacqueline Maley entitled "In Geoffrey Rush case, it's easy to forget who is on trial")

R14 New Feminism is essentially centered around white knighting for sensitive , oh so precious wasp blondes perpetually in need of rescue . Whether they're stumbling around inebriated in frat houses or wailing to twitter about their dysfunctional relationships, the media always treats their complaints as somehow more important than anyone else's personal problems. For all the shrieking over white male privilege, these flowers are as privileged as it gets. I'm tired of adult women who act like helpless , mute young children unable to express themselves ever. If these women want to work in a strict, highly structured environment, there are no shortage of office jobs available.

Judy Davis is a heroine of mine. Love how she refused to coddle that junkie River Phoenix when everybody else was up his ass. Look where that got him.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | November 4, 2018 4:05 AM |
R17 I admire Judy too (but she did look like 'Baby Jane Hudson' when appearing at the court house)
She's co-starred with Rush is at least two movies (but both were duds)
by Anonymous | reply 18 | November 4, 2018 4:14 AM |
shame on her

Judy has done nothing wrong.
Shame on nothing.
Rush is suing News Ltd to say they’ve destroyed his reputation
Judy said he once had an excellent reputation, and now he’s considered a creeper by those in the industry. That’s it.

This twitterstorm is bringing out the perpetually-discontent Leftie ratbags who want to be stars but aren't.
This person with four names claims "I have been hearing these stories about Rush for years" but of course did nothing.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | November 4, 2018 4:53 AM |
just because you’ve not witnessed predatory behaviour from your friend/colleague doesn’t mean your friend/colleague isn’t a predator.

You're telling us, R27, that we must always assume guilt without evidence.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | November 4, 2018 4:58 AM |
These complaints would have more weight if they weren't couched in alt-right crankypants rhetoric. No one complaining about these accusations cares about them, it's just part of the whole alt-right movement to say SJWs are ruining the world, lefties are ruining the world, white men are the real victims of everything etc.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | November 4, 2018 5:05 AM |
R29 It's "EJ" who started with the complaining.

The judge will be releasing his judgement today.
It doesn't sound good.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | November 9, 2018 1:10 AM |
I blame the Sydney Theatre Company manager who gave an anonymous statement to the newspaper. He brought the accusing actress into it publicly, which she didn't want to do. She didn't even make an official complaint, just complained to an administrator in a pub.

by Anonymous | reply 34 | November 9, 2018 9:28 AM |
I don't want to be rude but it's not credible that King Lear (played by Rush) could have spawned the woman playing Cordelia.
The woman playing Cordelia (shown below with her bald brother and mother) has quite a different head to that of Lear.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | November 9, 2018 10:57 PM |
It’s a play, R35, not a documentary.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | November 9, 2018 11:15 PM |
It's a very, VERY dreary play.
The play has a nude scene but it is not erotic at all!
by Anonymous | reply 37 | November 9, 2018 11:30 PM |
R37 I’m pretty sure that the playwright didn’t specify “nude scene here!” when he wrote the play. That would be up to each production’s director.
There was no nude scene in the Sydney Theatre Company production that is at the centre of this defamation case.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | November 10, 2018 1:33 AM |
The playwright did specify “nude scene here”. He says Tom is a "Poor naked wretch" in Act 3.
Tom says "My face I’ll grime with filth...Blanket my loins...And with presented nakedness outface... The winds and persecutions of the sky.
(see the link in R37)

by Anonymous | reply 45 | April 12, 2019 6:59 PM |
R14, no, let Rush pay 100%. If he hadn't made the gestures there would have been nothing for the newspapers to "report". Plus, he was the "star".
by Anonymous | reply 46 | April 12, 2019 7:07 PM |
This entirely the fault of the Sydney Theatre Company cunt who leaked it to the press rather than forming proper HR policy.

Davis looks like she generally does these days. She's never been one who obsessed over her appearance. At least she decided to age naturally vs. going the plastic surgery route. I give her props for that. She's an actress, not a glamour girl.
