Here is my viewpoint. As an actor you are of limited use if you can't be believably straight in a role, but that is in a role. You can be whoever you want in your personal time.

Telling you to be more masculine on screen is ok, but there has to be a division there.

He was basically threatened to come out and do a special interview, or the gay journalist would out him. George refused, he didn't want to make it into a big story. It wasn't a big story, it was his life. He wanted to come out on his own terms, which he eventually did, in a Youtube video.

Hollywood consists of packaging performers to be attractive to the broadest audiences. Anything specifically individual or interesting tends to be ironed out. If a performer has enough talent, they should be able to overcome that. Sadly, some never do. I think Gary has enough talent to keep him active. He's extremely attractive, a good singer and dancer and (I think) a decent actor. He's done a series of stage plays, where he seems to do pretty well. Many TV performers don't know how to perform on stage.

I think his steps to come out have been pretty measured, and thoughtful. And many of us here on DL, who've paid attention to his Instagram, have noted that he never seemed to hide his sexuality: "gay from space", so to speak.

You’re right, R71. There are so many things wrong with that. First the pants are too long and don’t have a proper break. The shoes are too clunky and bring attention to the ill-fitted trousers. I could go on.
