Patriotism is love for one's country while Nationalim is hatred of other countries because "the other" is felt and represented as a threat. Nationalists typically believe "the others" are within the country, hence why nationalism usually descends to fascism. You cannot separate nationalism from fascism because there's always the element of "pure, righteous people" versus "the others".

A nationalist President in a multi cultural democracy like the USA is a nightmare, for his nation in his mind is white (and straight).

R7, Honduras has an extremely high murder rate, and there are claims the leadership is beyond corrupt with basic services like electricity barely available for the very poor.
