Was The Gary Hart Scandal Just A Set-Up By The Bush Campaign?

The sooner you realize that Republicans can't win national elections except through cheating, the better off you'll be.

That was a real intriguing report. But who knows? Almost everybody involved is dead, and there's no direct proof of any of it.

But it does make you wonder, what if? What if Gary Hart was pretty much innocent? What if he had gone on to win the Democratic nomination that year and went up against George Bush the First instead of Dukakis?

But in the end that's all it will remain; speculation.

Oh yeah Reagan cheated, too...with Iran through the hostages.

They really are the White Power party. USA is now pretty much under apartheid becuse of these guys.

I believe Gary Hart’s version of the story. It was a total set up. Lee Atwater confessed. The guy he confessed to is still alive.

Haven't watched the video in its entirety, but I remember, so well, Gary Hart saying, if you think I'm lying (about cheating), "follow me!" So, they did and he got caught!! I remember thinking he was too stupid to be president.

Of course the GOP as a party repping the interests of the small, rich minority has to resort to deceit and cheating to win. How else? Oh the dumbfuckery of the Dems helps too.

But it was a set-up, r7. Lee Atwater arranged everything. Even the boat called “Monkey Business.” Hart sat down for a minute & some chick he didn’t know sat on his lap. A pic was snapped and she was gone. It took place in a matter of minutes. He had no idea what was going on.

But it was the end of his chance for the presidency. And it was undeserved.

And the guy who pulled this stunt got into the WH. The unethical creep got the prize.

And that positioned Dubya to run for office. Had Hart won the presidency, Dubya would have stayed on the golf course managing shitty baseball teams.

9/11 would not have happened under a competent president.

And now we have Trump.

Arranging for the Broadhurst boat Hart thought he would be boarding, with some unmemorable name, to be unavailable—so that the group would have to switch to another boat, Monkey Business. Persuading Broadhurst to “forget” to check in with customs clearance at Bimini before closing time, so that the boat “unexpectedly” had to stay overnight there. And, according to Hart, organizing an opportunistic photo-grab."

“There were a lot of people on the dock, people getting off their boats and wandering up and down on the wharf,” Hart told me. “While I was waiting for Broadhurst and whatever he was working out with the customs people, I sat on this little piling on the pier.” Hart said that Donna Rice’s friend and companion on the boat, Lynn Armandt, was standing a short distance away. “Miss Armandt made a gesture to Miss Rice, and she immediately came over and sat on my lap. Miss Armandt took the picture. The whole thing took less than five seconds, with lots of other people around. It was clearly staged, but it was used after the fact to prove that some intimacy existed.”

This photo/story came out. Hart denied, denied, denied. He said I'm not cheating, follow me. They did. Rice was photographed either enter/leaving his Capitol Hill townhouse. THEN, Hart dropped out.

I think I read that he was part of the womanizing crew John McCain belonged to in DC in the 80s, Joe Biden was also a part of it and another politician; I read it in the Rolling Stone article about McCain.

The republican strategy for the mid-terms is blatant voter suppression. (See Texas, Georgia, North Daokota.)

They are the White Power party. They want to be the Ruling Class. They want apartheid...two Americas: one a country club for straight whites, the other a toxic ghetto for the rest of us.
