Old timey dinner and dancing

Vince Giordano and the Nitehawks are great. They play at a kinda cheesy Mexican restaurant called the Iguana now but they used to play at an old school Italian Resto in the basement named Sophia’s.

At Iguana the dance floor in front of Vince and the guys (the Nighthawks) has gotten smaller as management puts in more tables. There's also a dancing space in the back but no one will see you there. Can get really loud while the band is playing: intoxicated women of all ages; they ruin it for the serious, attentive listeners. Food is sort of good. Frequently have professional ballroom dancers, Heather Gehring and Lou Brockman, there and they are spectacular. The NIghthawks are at Iguana Monday and Tuesday evenings starting at 8, but get there early to order food and drinks.

The Rainbow Room sounds more like what OP has in mind.

Looking at the wine list from the Rainbow Room, why does so much champagne come from Nevada?

Lovely idea. Too bad Roseland is gone. Right? But Rainbow Room.

Maybe there's a tango place. Wish I had a Latino husbear too!

Oh how we miss Roseland!

Sundays in the 80s and 90s were notorious for older ladies of means (and not) dancing with the young hot papis, the only men who, unlike their husbands, could rumba, mambo, etc. Lust was in the air along with resulting marriages that last to this day.
