Man of Steel was deemed insufficiently successful given its massive cost and middling reviews, and the spectacular grosses of Marvels Avengers convinced Warner Bros that it was more lucrative to build toward a team up than to continue a Superman solo series. Cavill’s four picture deal was reutlised for Batman Superman and two Justice League movies.

In retrospect they should have probably done a Man of Steel sequel which introduced Batman as a minor character, given Batman a stand-alone film, and built Justice League from there. The spectacular failure of Snyder’s strategy is evident in the careers he destroyed (Greg Silverman and Sue Kroll at Warner Brothers).

The Superman franchise is so tired. So far we've seen two reboots that were basically remakes with twists. Superman Returns is essentially Superman I and Man of Steel is essentially Superman II. Then we get the horrible Batman versus Superman.

Marvel has done a much better job by building at least somewhat faithfully on what was in the comics rather than pilfering the characters and trying to do a Hollywood take on these things. Justice League looked horrible and Aquaman does as well.

The hope rests with Wonder Woman 1984, which is now delayed....

I think the studio is reactionary as fuck, especially with the Superman franchise:

They wanted back to basics with Superman Returns, didn't work as they wanted....

so they rebooted the character with a completely different take a la Batman Begins. The movie underperformed and was polarazing with critics and audience...

so they introduced Batman to launch the DC universe. The movie also underperformed and critic and general audience hated it, especially everything related with Superman...

so they changed most of JL, especially almost all Superman scenes and the movie flopped and the worst part everybody forgot about it except for the mustache gate crap...

so now they are not making more Superman movies for a while,(most likely reboot the character again and I bet my house that they will go with the Chris Reeve tone again) soft reboot Batman and focusing on making individual movies for each character, elseworlds movies and lot of changes for a franchise that every year lost more and more audience.

R594 why don't you think he's 6'1"? Looks about right to me.

Looking at him standing next to others is what makes me think the 6'1" claim is false. There is a picture of him standing next to Patrick Dempsey at the recent GQ awards in Germany. They are the same height. Patrick's height is listed as 5'10". So if that is true, then 5'10" would be a more accurate height. Also, many people in the industry who work with these people (stylists, etc.) say that with celebrities, subtract 3 inches from whatever height they claim. It seems to be a given that most of them lie about their height. I've seen quite a few in person and believe me, they are ALL much smaller than they come across on camera.

Armie Hammer is 6’5. Henry looks more 6’1 here than 5’10.

Who knows. But, Patrick looked eye to eye with him and I guarantee you Patrick isn't 6'1". I don't think any of them are as tall as they say they are.
