For a few years now a group of them have gone to witness and laugh at the public hysterics in front of Graceland surrounding the anniversary of Presley's death.

She says people of all ages from all over the world are wandering in the street, bawling and carrying on like he just died or something.

When some people hit it big they move to NY or LA and get more sophisticated and drop their backwards friends and relatives, but Elvis stayed a good ol' boy his entire life. He lived in Memphis and kept his trashy friends and relatives on as his entourage, and dressed tastelessly and spoke Southern and loved peanut butter sandwiches and cornbread and told 14-year-old girls he was gonna marry them and paid lip service to "family values" as long as he lived.

Have you ever read any history of the Beatles, OP? They worshiped Elvis, and John's mother worshiped Elvis. They weren't the only Brits who did. Lennon famously said, "Before Elvis, there was nothing." Think about it.

Back when Britney Spears was hot, she apparently had a loyal white trash following. She was another one of them who made it big, yet still (supposedly) stayed down to earth.
