Good? Bad? Unwatchable?
What are everyone's picks for the new TV season?
by Anonymous | reply 56 | October 22, 2018 11:29 PM |
I like Manifest so far. Josh Dallas is a very hot man.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | October 8, 2018 11:59 PM |
I hate that Jesus-y 'Manifest.' And that female lead with the lantern jaw cannot act.
Surprised that I love 'FBI' and the very hot Zeeko Zaki.

I was a fan of Murphy Brown before and love Jake McDornan, who now plays her son, but the new version is unwatchable.

The "Magnum" reboot is bloody awful, even worse than I thought it would be (and I wasn't expecting much).
I just watched a sitcom called "The Neighborhood", which (other than featuring the adorably cute Max Greenfield), is BAD, manages to be politically correct and racist at the same time.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | October 9, 2018 12:10 AM |
Agree that the new Murphy Brown is horrible. Also really like Max Greenfield but The Neighborhood was horrible. Can't believe they are using a lousy laugh track.
I have liked Manifest so far but do agree that the main actress playing the sister is AWFUL. I've also enjoyed A Million Little Things mainly because there are several actors on the show that I have very much enjoyed before in other shows.

It is a little cheesy and almost old school network TV in the writing and the acting, but I kind of like it because of that. Sometimes you want just pure escapist TV.
I watched 6 years of Once Upon a Time largely because of Dallas (although the first season was actually pretty good and it seemed like it still had potential seasons 2 and 3). I have noticed that he has already been shirtless more than he ever was on Once and is dressed in jeans almost as tight as he wore on his old show. I will miss his Prince Charming attire however.

Josh Dallas is a terrible actor, despite his hotness. So "earnest" - ick!
"The Neighborhood" is actually funny in a bizarre way. Max Greenfield is straight? Anyway, he's adorable and I'm hoping that the future episodes will have fewer cringe-inducing moments.
I don't mind a laugh track because I despise those unfunny "sitcoms" that NBC has been doing for about 12 years. Like the one with the Indian woman with the 1984 'Emotion' wavy perm of Barbra Streisand's. That's a horribly done show that is the opposite of funny.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | October 9, 2018 12:30 AM |
"Single Parents," with Leighton Meester, Taran Killam, and Brad Garrett is pretty good. And it has the GAYEST character ever seen on TV.

Why do I never notice that actors are bad? Well, thank you, r7, for saving me from the mediocrity that is Josh Dallas. What would I have done without you? Oh, that's right: enjoyed the show, you supercilious cunt.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | October 9, 2018 3:36 AM |
I like Manifest so far. I don't watch any reboots.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | October 9, 2018 3:39 AM |
Single Parents on ABC was awful. The adult cast had no chemistry, the kids were insufferable (8 year olds who talk like they're 30), the writing was outdated (a running "It Takes a Village" joke) and worst of all, a Moana sing-along at the end.
I thought the Cool Kids pilot was just OK, but the second episode was pretty funny. It could end up being a good show.
Disappointing returning show: Fresh Off the Boat. Not one laugh in the premiere. It's like everyone gave up after they were banished to the Friday night timeslot.

R4, so "Magnum P.I." isn't even worth watching for the sexy Jay Hernandez?
by Anonymous | reply 12 | October 9, 2018 3:53 PM |
The only network show I still watch is W&G, mostly by inertia and hoping against the odds that it will somehow reach the level of the original. The rest is all cable and streaming.

I can earnestly say Josh Dallas was absolutely lovely last night. What is so terrible about his acting?
by Anonymous | reply 14 | October 9, 2018 4:38 PM |
R13 likes shows that have to reach up to be pure crap.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | October 9, 2018 4:39 PM |
I’m enjoying 9-1-1
by Anonymous | reply 16 | October 9, 2018 4:43 PM |
Network TV is soooo bad right now. No wonder Netflix is kicking ass (not their shows, which aren't all great, but just having good classic films to watch on there).
by Anonymous | reply 17 | October 9, 2018 4:46 PM |
Name five "good classic films" I can watch on Netflix, r17. Streaming, not DVD.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | October 9, 2018 4:50 PM |
There’s a “tv season,” OP? What is this, 1965?
by Anonymous | reply 20 | October 9, 2018 5:31 PM |
"the Godfather" (all 3), "African Queen", "Cinema Paradiso", "Marie Antoinette", "Se7en", "45 Years", "Tangerine" (future classic)... and that's just off the top of my head. I have tons of DVDs but I do watch these on Netflix sometimes just because they are there and I don't want to go searching in my collection.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | October 9, 2018 6:36 PM |
(Above is for R18)
by Anonymous | reply 22 | October 9, 2018 6:37 PM |
Thank you, r21. I'm considering re-upping with Netflix soon, mostly to watch the show w/Josh Groban and Tony Danza, but it turns me into a real shrieker every time I want to watch a movie movie, and it's only available on DVD, which I can only access if I add a 7.99 secondary membership.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | October 9, 2018 6:44 PM |
Yep, I avoid the trendy stuff on it and would cancel altogether if it weren't for the good movies they have (and once you watch one, they of course devote a whole section for you to make it easy). Love having "Boogie Nights" on there and finally will make myself watch "To Kill a Mockingbird" which I have avoided for some dumb reason. And $7.99 is good for a month especially since I got rid of cable long ago and just use an antenna.

[quote]I got rid of cable long ago and just use an antenna.
Can you watch network TV on your computer. I know ABC won't let you unless you have a cable provider, but what about the others?
by Anonymous | reply 25 | October 9, 2018 6:58 PM |
Max Greenfield looks like he's lost weight and isn't as cute as he used to be. His head is too big now.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | October 9, 2018 6:58 PM |
(I think they may have gotten rid of the DVD by mail thing long ago. It's all streaming if I am not mistaken. And only $7.99, no extra bullshit).
by Anonymous | reply 27 | October 9, 2018 6:58 PM |
"Grover Johnson!"

It was true earlier this year.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | October 9, 2018 7:01 PM |
The DVD by mail service is still around.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | October 9, 2018 7:13 PM |
What’s “TV?”
by Anonymous | reply 31 | October 9, 2018 7:22 PM |
No, R25, but I don't do that much anyway, spend enough time on computer so no watching films on it. But you get all the major channels and then some with a cheap stock antenna plugged in to back of TV.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | October 9, 2018 7:28 PM |
R20 and R31, no one likes smug little hipster shits like you.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | October 9, 2018 7:33 PM |
Agreed, R33. And I'm sure the little shit is getting his internet and Netflix bills paid by mommy anyway.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | October 9, 2018 7:51 PM |
[quote]But you get all the major channels and then some with a cheap stock antenna plugged in to back of TV.
I don't. I only get ABC. No NBC, CBS, or Fox.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | October 9, 2018 7:55 PM |
It was new last year but I'm still watching The Good Doctor. Freddie Highmore should have been nominated for an emmy.

This threads reeks of a nursing home.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | October 9, 2018 8:46 PM |
And you reek of Axe body spray and feet, R37.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | October 9, 2018 9:17 PM |
R38 is right. I can smell you from here, r37.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | October 9, 2018 9:27 PM |
Anyone bother with the second episode of The Neighborhood? The first episode was kind of cringeworthy. I kept waiting for Cedric to call Max Greenfield a "honky."
by Anonymous | reply 40 | October 9, 2018 10:25 PM |
Remember to see aged DL fave George Eads in CBS' Macgyver. The young cutie looks foine.
I'm looking forward to hate-watch the tacky Charmed reboot.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | October 9, 2018 10:34 PM |
"The Cool Kids" with Vicki Lawrence, David Alan Grier, Martin Mull, Leslie Jordan on Fox is funny.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | October 9, 2018 10:49 PM |
I watch Golden Girls repeats ONLY.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | October 9, 2018 11:09 PM |
Lovely, a stomped hamster joke in the first five minutes of that "Single Parents" piece of shit. Fire these goddam hack writers!
by Anonymous | reply 44 | October 11, 2018 1:39 AM |
Max Greenfield has such a cute smile. Not that that makes up for having just watched a half hour of televised horse shit.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | October 11, 2018 2:06 AM |
"Last time I saw that much white meat, it was fried and in a bucket."
People get PAID to write this shit?!
by Anonymous | reply 46 | October 13, 2018 12:27 AM |
I agree, "The Neighborhood" has a lot of work to do but there is potential. The cast is fantastic, so hopefully writing will improve and give them something good to work with. And R44, I want to see the third episode just so I can see Max Greenfield in those little shorts he's going to be wearing.
I think "The Cool Kids" is actually the best new sitcom so far this season (though that they may not be saying much). Both the first and second episodes were very funny.
I literally watched 3 minutes of "Single Parents" and had to turn it off. Just awful.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | October 13, 2018 2:00 AM |
I watched the first episode of "Manifest" and though I thought it was pretty good, I just resist getting pulled into another mystery drama with endless questions and virtually no answers. It just gets so tiresome after a while.
R26, I agree that Max looks like he has lost weight. I wonder if it comes from his having played that junkie in the Versace miniseries? Perhaps he lost it for that and hasn't gained it back yet.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | October 13, 2018 2:03 AM |
New season is shit...nothing. Neighbourhood isn't bad. Hoping Camping on HBO is good. Otherwise, nothing is thrilling me
by Anonymous | reply 49 | October 13, 2018 2:10 AM |
The Rookie might be good, except for the over the top house and the over the top girlfriend.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | October 22, 2018 11:04 PM |
I'm watching Manifest, 9-1-1, FBI and station 19.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | October 22, 2018 11:08 PM |
I tried God Friended Me as I had read a couple positive posts on other forums, it didn't hold my interest but it wasn't horrible.
I'm majorly disappointed in Murphy Brown, so bad.
I can take or leave The Conners.
I gave up on W&G last season.
I'm only watching two network shows as this point: Superstore and Poldark which is PBS and not even network. I do occasionally browse The Durrells in (of?) Corfu mostly for the scenery not really following the story, also PBS.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | October 22, 2018 11:17 PM |
The Resident and Manifest are on tonight. The Good Doctor isn't (ABC is running an episode of The Rookie).
by Anonymous | reply 53 | October 22, 2018 11:20 PM |
I feel bad has actually been decent-ish the last two episodes..
by Anonymous | reply 54 | October 22, 2018 11:22 PM |
I generally hate procedurals and CBS, but I watched FBI and got hooked.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | October 22, 2018 11:26 PM |
I couldn't make it through 20 minutes of FBI.
