I'm surprised they don't even mention Olivia Newton John in this film and that they didn't use any of her songs on the soundtrack (one of the characters briefly mentions Xanadu, but that's it). It's a good movie. Clever plot, good writing and acting....though Terence Stamp can. not. dance.

Watch the big performance montage number at the end. Lots of very fast editing to disguise the fact poor ole Terry has two left feet. (But, he's still great in the role.)

And, waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than the puerile "To Wong Foo...." which come out about the same time which has an idiotic script, horrible direction and dumb performances. It's not even well cast.

A few years back, my (straight) brother and I got together for dinner, and he asked me to pick a movie on Netflix that we both could watch. I asked for 'Priscilla', which he had never heard of before. He really enjoyed it: we both laughed at the same bits, and had a great time. So I think it holds up well. I had to point out to him the other roles the leads had played: he knew Terence Stamp from 'Superman', Hugo Weaving from 'The Matrix' and Guy Pearce from 'LA Confidential'. I waited until the movie was over to tell him, and he was almost in disbelief, since they had all occupied their roles so successfully.

Guy Pearce was such a hot little piece in this!

I love this movie and I have to see it at least once a year. Guy Pierce was beautiful.

Pierce was hot but all three leads were oddly sanitized and sexless. I could not imagine any of them having sex with men. That is the writer/director's fault. Then throwing in the lezzie wife and rugrat was making movies by the numbers. Gee, who do we want to watch, who do we not want to offend?

I liked it back in the 90's and I like it today. This film made me happier for having seen it. Not many (actually, none) have that effect on me today. I blame it on old age.

It was hilarious the way they made Sydney out to be a badass, violent version of LA and New York with the gay community having a bogan edge, instead of the bourgie-yuppie place it really is.

I just finished watching it again for the fourth or fifth time about twenty minutes ago. It was still very entertaining, and a nice diversion from our current shitty reality.

I feel Stamp was the most fascinating character to watch. Obviously world-weary, with few fucks left to give, she was barely going through the motions on stage. She'd seen it all, done it all and was just looking for a small spot of happiness, somewhere, before the inevitable. Wished there had been a sequel, and wondered what it would've looked like. Perhaps it's better there wasn't one, a sequel would've intruded onto their lives and probably ruined it( as so many sequels do) for the many fans of this funny/sad but inevitably uplifting film.

The most compelling scene in the movie started in the underground video store,then segued to Pearce being "unmasked," chased and terrified by those boozehounds. Bernadette to the rescue. "There, now you're fucked."

Best throwaway line: "What a rude woman."

I really like this film. The main characters are part of the BGT but the G and T hate each other but through the trip they begin to get along ultimately reaching the mountaintop both figuratively and literally.
