The original movie The Haunting based on a Shirley Jackson story and directed by Robert Wise.
Very slow going but spectacularly spooky in atmosphere. By the end, it’s outright terrifying.
Julie Harris was as good here as ever.

The Innocents

You can watch The Innocents on youtube. Truman Capote co-wrote the screenplay. Spooky!

The Innocents is based on The Turn of the Screw. I was a little kid when I first saw it on tv and there was a scene that escaped me. Years later as an adult watching it again, I understood. That scene was creepy then and remains creepy. I'll leave it to you to watch.

I would have said "An Inconvenient Truth," but the OP stipulated "No Gore!"
Thank you, I'll be here all week! Try the veal--it's delicious.

r9, there are multiple creepy scenes in "The Innocents"--which one are you referring to? The one in the schoolroom with the tears on the slate? Miss Jessel in the weeds?

The 6th Sense. I don’t find it gory but very suspenseful, sad and the ending was a surprise.
