Well, that's all that matters, right? I think that the Republicans will be in terrible shape if they sit Kavanaugh. BUT, they couldn't care less what people think or how history will view them. All that matters is that they will have gained the seat and shaped the court.

Yes she does seem rather fragile and meek. Can you imagine how fragile she was as a 15 year old? She was exactly the kind of girl they'd target and feel they could shout her down and deny it all no matter what. Deny deny deny. That's their mantra and sadly it often works.
