Glancing through Nick Nolte's bio

Only good tidbits seems to be stuff we already knew. Debra Winger was difficult and crazy (turbulently brilliant) and Edward Norton was a pompous twit who gave line readings to other actors and caused him to quit a film and give his role to Jon Voight.

He only has nice things to say about Barbra and Bette.

the odd thing is he did a second film with Winger (Everybody Wins) He doesn't mention it at all. Anyone ever see it? Worth a view? In the book he just discusses Cannery Row and how odd Winger was to work with. He felt really bad for Raquel Welch for getting fired and felt she was set up. (she apparently got a huge settlement for being fired for things she didn't do, like coming in late.)

"Everybody Wins" is pretty good. The plot wanders, but the cast have fun with their ditsy characters. I thought Nolte and Winger were good together. Definitely unlike anything else I've seen by Arthur Miller, who wrote the screenplay.

I read his book and was surprised about what an asshole Julia Roberts was to him on the set of I Love Trouble. She hated him for no reason and when he asked her why she said, "You're not even a real man. "

What a CUNT.

Julia is terrible. She tried to get me put in supporting.

Does he mention the nutsack reduction?

by Anonymousreply 6September 27, 2018 5:11 AM

It is on the first page r6. I think he was just joking and trying to be outrageous but it got out of hand.

by Anonymousreply 7September 27, 2018 5:12 AM

Thanks r7.

I also recall something from a magazine interview about him wearing a girdle at times, and calling it "the Richard Dreyfus trick"
