UGLY!
by Anonymous | reply 7 | September 27, 2018 12:03 AM |
He was hot back in the day.
Has a big one
by Anonymous | reply 8 | September 27, 2018 12:03 AM |
Do it! And then ask us if we are jealous.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | September 27, 2018 12:07 AM |
yes
by Anonymous | reply 10 | September 27, 2018 12:08 AM |
Queer you know. I do know, for sure. An old radio friend from back in the day knew him well. Loves the dick.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | September 27, 2018 12:10 AM |
So sexy back in the 70s.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | September 27, 2018 12:12 AM |
likes to be poked in the pooper
by Anonymous | reply 14 | September 27, 2018 1:01 AM |
OP, this approach isnt going to work either.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | September 27, 2018 1:02 AM |
Would you settle for Super Tramp, r15?
by Anonymous | reply 16 | September 27, 2018 1:04 AM |
I could totally pull off that hairstyle
by Anonymous | reply 17 | September 27, 2018 1:05 AM |
Yes. I’ve seen him twice. Met him once.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | September 27, 2018 1:56 AM |
He's a French Canadian born in Montreal, Quebec. I have his hit singles, some goods stuff, and yes, I'd go see him in concert.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | September 27, 2018 2:07 AM |
Gino Vannelli back in the day. He's 66 now.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | September 27, 2018 2:10 AM |
I haven't thought about this guy in like forever. Had this weird fusion of funk, power ballads and jazz. I liked the Pauper in Paradise album. Such a weird collection of music. I'm surprised he hasn't written any Broadway musicals. Thanks for bringing me back to 11 years old.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | September 27, 2018 2:20 AM |
Damn, I think I have to watch my sister's kids. Damn.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | September 27, 2018 2:23 AM |
That chest back in the 70s, though -- day-um!
by Anonymous | reply 23 | September 27, 2018 2:32 AM |
[quote]He's a French Canadian born in Montreal, Quebec.
With a name like "Gino Vannelli," one would have to assume he's of Italian descent, not French.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | September 27, 2018 2:40 AM |
Loved him!
by Anonymous | reply 25 | September 27, 2018 2:41 AM |
He was hot when this video was made. Always liked the song, too. I heard he was a perfectionist about arranging & recording, which wasn’t meant as a criticism by the person who worked in the recording studios told me.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | September 27, 2018 2:58 AM |
If it came with a time machine trip, yes.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | September 27, 2018 3:28 AM |
Yes, OP. I would see him. He still has a beautiful voice. He could have been a bigger star but I read he had creative differences with one of the major industry players (Clive Davis?). They wanted him to be more mainstream/pop-oriented and he didn't want to go that way; he wanted more artistic control of his music. After that, he disappeared for a while.
I remember I was in college, listening to this album on some guy's huge stereo system with a bunch of people. We were all smoking pot and everyone was quiet as a mouse. We listened to the entire album, stoned and this album just blew our brains out, it was such a high listening to it. Or it was really good grass.

All our friends assumed he was gay but I was surprised to read that he's been married to the same woman since the 1970s and has a son. But then. he could be bi.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | September 27, 2018 3:46 AM |
I would buy a ticket if he performs a medley of his hit.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | September 27, 2018 3:53 AM |
I would definitely go and see him...

Probably not, OP. John List would buy tickets. It's rumored he was listening to Gino Vannelli with his second wife when he was arrested. Good times.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | September 27, 2018 4:03 AM |
Yes.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | September 27, 2018 4:05 AM |
R24, there's plenty of Eyetalians in Montreal. The weird thing is many of them talk like they're from NYC. And the Montreal Jews have an even stronger NYC-type accent. Where the hell does that accent come from?
by Anonymous | reply 35 | September 27, 2018 4:07 AM |
Get serious, R34 YOU figure out who is OP of first thread.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | September 27, 2018 4:09 AM |
r33 writing the same dull post on the Tony Orlando & Dawn thread in 3..2..1
by Anonymous | reply 37 | September 27, 2018 4:09 AM |
Yes, r36/OP. I'm the OP of the Tony Orlando & Dawn thread YOU copied and paste this thread from. The first thread.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | September 27, 2018 4:12 AM |
Oh look, R37 can count.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | September 27, 2018 4:14 AM |
Poor r39. She's upset.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | September 27, 2018 4:17 AM |
Poor R41. He's poor. And has gynecomastia.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | September 27, 2018 4:18 AM |
Poor r42. She's still single, fat and dull.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | September 27, 2018 4:22 AM |
Oh go fuck it out in a corner, cunts.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | September 27, 2018 4:23 AM |
My cousin's friend who is a stylist to ALL the big 70s singers in Montreal said that Gino sheds like an airedale - little fluffs of wool gather in the corners wherever he hibernates.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | September 27, 2018 10:15 AM |
That's quite a package he was sporting in the "People Gotta Move" video.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | September 27, 2018 10:39 AM |
He's back?!? Is he done writing his opera?!!? OP GO! I guess the curls are gone but still! you gotta move!! People gotta groove!!
by Anonymous | reply 48 | September 27, 2018 10:56 AM |
Merci, R27!
by Anonymous | reply 49 | September 27, 2018 3:38 PM |
Well, this is certainly a trip down memory lane -
I read somewhere that Black Cars is not about Trans Ams, as a lot of people think, but rather about the drag queens prowling the streets at night.
According to the Wikipedia article (which has no mention of his wife/family), an album released in 2003 titled 'Canto' is his greatest musical accomplishment. Sample at link.

If you check Gino's FB page, he has pics of his wife, mostly when she was young and quite a stunner. Here's a recent pic of them.
heck, I'm surprised too that he's been married this long-- and that he even has a wife.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | September 28, 2018 8:00 AM |
My boyfriend saw him in concert in the 70s and said he was carrying a purse like this. One of the reasons we assumed he was gay.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | September 28, 2018 8:11 AM |
R73 - just really bad 70s fashion. Gino is packing!
by Anonymous | reply 54 | September 30, 2018 4:50 PM |
R51 I love and have his song "Black Cars".
by Anonymous | reply 56 | October 1, 2018 4:19 AM |

by Anonymous | reply 58 | December 29, 2020 4:25 AM |
Vannelli Minnelli
by Anonymous | reply 59 | December 29, 2020 4:28 AM |
Loved him since I was a kid in the 70's, and finally saw him live in LA (which was recorded and made into a DVD) about 6 years ago. Looked great, sang great, but told stupid little stories between songs. Talked about how his wife understood, and was glad to see him go, when he had to take off for months at a time to Europe to spark creativity. I felt like he was announcing his open marriage and was available.
