Bill Cosby Sentenced 3 to 10 years: Taken To Prison Immediately

What's that mean? At least three but no more than 10 years? WTF?

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 93October 26, 2018 1:44 AM

Maybe two for good behavior

by Anonymousreply 1September 25, 2018 9:22 PM

He has to serve three years. The rest will be probation.

by Anonymousreply 2September 25, 2018 9:23 PM

My guess is he will be out in a few months.

by Anonymousreply 3September 25, 2018 9:24 PM

Saw him walking out. pretending to be blind ffs. FUCK THIS CUNT!

by Anonymousreply 4September 25, 2018 9:24 PM

Well, it's better than nothing.

by Anonymousreply 5September 25, 2018 9:25 PM

What R3 said. I doubt he'll even do three years

by Anonymousreply 6September 25, 2018 9:26 PM

He is guilty of revolting crimes.

by Anonymousreply 7September 25, 2018 9:26 PM

He'll more than likely be placed in a medical wing of some country club prison, because of his age and his health issues. In other words he'll have a cushy time inside.

by Anonymousreply 8September 25, 2018 9:29 PM

You should be sentenced to life for starting yet ANOTHER thread on this.

by Anonymousreply 9September 25, 2018 9:29 PM

He was an asshole. Years back, I remember him belittling his own people (African Americans at large) for their circumstances in life, insisting that if he could do it then so could they. He was not humble, and not being humble strongly suggests that he was not thankful for his blessings. Nonetheless, he will find two or three of the prison population Mr Big Shits, pay them while also supporting to a degree their families on the outside to ensure his safety and well-being. Pudding Pops, Bill - just pass out Pudding Pops and you're in like Flynn.

by Anonymousreply 10September 25, 2018 9:30 PM

Bet he gets his vision back.

by Anonymousreply 11September 25, 2018 9:35 PM

No television privileges -- or at least no seat in front of the screen -- in prison since he can only hear.

by Anonymousreply 12September 25, 2018 9:37 PM

That's at least 24 months that someone with a heart could shiv him!

by Anonymousreply 13September 25, 2018 9:38 PM

R8 Are there some state prisons which are country club prisons? I thought it was mainly Federal which had the more de luxe type of prisons.

by Anonymousreply 14September 25, 2018 9:39 PM

What a spectacular fall. It really is stunning the number of powerful men completely abusing women. Crosby does not surprise me, but others have (like Charlie Rose). Frankly, I don't understand it. At age 65 it continues to amaze me that this happens with the frequency it does and that it has gone unpunished for so long. I have assumed some men are like this, but not so damn many. And the irony is that the most powerful of them all has gotten away with it which means it still pollutes our culture. One look at the blonds on FOX News and you know its still there-

by Anonymousreply 15September 25, 2018 9:40 PM

To the DL Thread Nazi - I've started about three threads since frequenting this site for about a year now. That in no way compares to the 20-30 useless thread you start on a daily basis.

"Skid Marks Can Be Difficult To Get Out of Underwear"

Do YOU have difficulty getting skid marks out of YOUR underwear?

by Anonymousreply 16September 25, 2018 9:41 PM

R8 no. Not even federal prisons are Club Fed anymore. There was a guy in the Midwest who for a short while built private medium security prisons with lounges and cappuccino makers. Then, it seems, he was outed for having no credentials to build prisons. Also, taxpayers got mad that prisoners were drinking foamy coffee beverages.

Now, it seems that prisons are about dehumanization—crap conditions along with dehumanizing loss of freedom/privacy/control. Those conditions mimic the plight of victims of violence, so that’s good for rapists, murderers and others of that ilk.

by Anonymousreply 17September 25, 2018 10:31 PM

Cosby is a sour, nasty, coddled celebrity asshole. The other inmates will HATE him!

by Anonymousreply 18September 25, 2018 10:37 PM

I might have sympathized with arguments that he's old/infirm/not-a-threat if he'd been convicted of raping women in his 20s or 30s, but he was convicted of drugging one of the women when HE was almost 60. That's not youthful indiscretion or something that happened in the distant past... he was *aiready* old when he did it.

by Anonymousreply 19September 25, 2018 10:38 PM

He may not be getting as much time as we wish, but at least he was held accountable for something.

by Anonymousreply 20September 25, 2018 11:04 PM

I agree that he'll end up in seclusion in some medical wing. No way is he going to be socializing with the other inmates.

by Anonymousreply 21September 25, 2018 11:59 PM

Stark difference between the bed he went to sleep in last night and the one he’ll be sleeping in now.

by Anonymousreply 22September 26, 2018 12:03 AM

Praise Jesus!

by Anonymousreply 23September 26, 2018 1:03 AM

Do you think he expected this or to be out on bond?

by Anonymousreply 24September 26, 2018 1:38 AM

I doubt if he expected to go straight to prison. I'm kind of surprised that happened. And, at only 25 replies, it looks like DL doesn't give a fuck.

by Anonymousreply 25September 26, 2018 1:51 AM

Yeah at the very least he expected to be home in his TempurPedic tonight. When’s the last time this guy didn’t to go sleep on some multi-thousand dollar luxury bed? He probably can’t believe it.

by Anonymousreply 26September 26, 2018 3:10 AM

R25 and R26 I think he expected to be in his bed, too. I also think he didn’t stare into the camera in his mugshot lest his eyes show his pupils reacting normally, no cataracts, etc. I am surprised he is gone, but his PR guy had a speech ready so at least they KNEW it was a possibility.

I am wondering if he will have a breakdown tonight or in the next day or so. It would be hard to go from his pampered bubble to that. The next publicity move would be a try for sympathy by a rush to the hospital.

by Anonymousreply 27September 26, 2018 3:33 AM

I visited Sandra Rose yesterday to get the AA woman's take on the Cosby mess, and I was surprised that only one person out of perhaps 75 was calling for prison time. They were all of the mind that as long as there are white men walking around(or previously walking around in the case of Hugh Hefner) who have been sleazy pervs, then Cosby should not be in jail either. It really took guts for that one chick to maintain her hard stance while the others were dogging her. I suspect something unfortunate may have happened to her in her own life.

Here is my question: an attorney in the thread stated that he would be out on bail as his attorneys appealed the case starting in the lower courts and progressing up the chain of importance. Hence, he would be dead by the time they had exhausted all appeals. I actually believe that she was a lawyer, because she repeatedly cited cases and used all these Latin terms. But if they took him directly to jail today, then she was obviously wrong.

Any lawyers here who can explain as to why he will not be out on bond while appealing? Thank you.

by Anonymousreply 28September 26, 2018 3:35 AM

You’re black; you go to jail.

You’re white like Trump, you become president.

Those are just the rules

by Anonymousreply 29September 26, 2018 4:01 AM

Yes r29, Bill Cosby is Emmett Till!

by Anonymousreply 30September 26, 2018 4:08 AM

Have we heard from Bill’s facial growths?

by Anonymousreply 31September 26, 2018 4:09 AM

R28 The judge’s designation of violent sexual predator or offender precludes letting him out on bond. This denotes that the judge considers him a danger to society.

He might win the chance to get out on bond if he gets sick, but I wouldn’t count on it. The judge threw a pretty good book at him—I think 5 to 10 is what was said to be likely for a non-Cosby offender in the same situation. This is about justice but it’s also about optics—it’s not a he-said/she-said, but a case with some solid evidence backing the accusation.

Expect a lot of these sentences in this current climate. There are #MeToo incidents with piles of evidence (Weinstein, for instance) that are likely to end in prison terms. The rush to judgment needs to be careful with cases like Kavannaugh, which at this point is an accusation with no proof, much like Duke Lacrosse. The fact someone might be perceived as an asshole doesn’t automatically make them guilty.

This is a win for justice (a disappointing win, as who wants to think Cosby is guilty, much less know it), but any man in any situation of power is exposed to such accusations now. All it takes is one angry man or woman to launch such rumors...and rumors become facts in this society even with no proof or basis. Keep your lives very tidy...

by Anonymousreply 32September 26, 2018 4:48 AM

Win for Justice? Most certainly not. In America's hypocritical racial climate, it's simply justice being seen to be done.

In the meantime, Crosby laughs and laughs.

by Anonymousreply 33September 26, 2018 5:11 AM

R32 Thank you for the explanation.

You really hit home with me by referencing the Duke Lacrosse v Crystal Mangum case. As you so aptly put it, just because the defendant/accused Is unlikable and appears to be an asshole in no way telegraphs his guilt or innocence. I remember Nancy Grace all but buried the boys, while elevating the stripper to Joan of Arc status. She never even questioned Crystal's veracity or motives. It was so bad that when the truth finally came out, NG took a week off so she would not have to address her monumental blunder. Conversely, it is easy for so many to deny the bad acts of Cosby because he appears to have led an exemplary life. No one wants to believe that Americas Dad is a perverted sex predator.

by Anonymousreply 34September 26, 2018 5:42 AM

R29 You fail to mention that because of his wealth, popularity and the high regard he was held in by the entire country and the show biz elite, Cosby was allowed to continue his twisted predation for 40 years. Everyone knew, and everyone covered for him.

If he had been someone less likable, he would have been stopped back in the 1970s. In America, wealth and power trump skin color every time.

It's another OJ situation. OJ was given extra special treatment and velvet glove handling by the LAPD and the powerful in TV and business. People covered for him throughout his relationship with NBS. No one questioned his daughter's death by drowning at his home. He was NOT treated as a black man--he was treated as a rick, beloved American institution.

by Anonymousreply 35September 26, 2018 5:48 AM

rich, not rick^^^

by Anonymousreply 36September 26, 2018 5:49 AM

wait, in the picture I saw online, it looks like he was holding his teeth? dentures! was it?!?

by Anonymousreply 37September 26, 2018 5:51 AM

Na na na gonna have a good time...

by Anonymousreply 38September 26, 2018 6:10 AM

R19, he was 66 when he raped the woman in the crime that got him convicted. He's been doing this for over 40 years, at least. I hope the sick fuck gets shivved.

by Anonymousreply 39September 26, 2018 6:23 AM

I said this in the other thread - it is very rare for a criminal defendant to remain on bond just to appeal. Maybe some white collar crime but not violent offenses. There are a gazillion inmates appealing their cases sitting on their bunks.

I have no idea where that poster practices but it is rare. Not saying it never happens but it is usually not the most serious offenses and it is usually becuase you have argued they need to make arrangements for the care of an elderly parent or children. But it is usually a very short time frame and they have to come back to court - often the judge will inform us of the sentence but hold off on formally imposing the sentence until we come back. But that is very very rare.

In federal court it is common for convicted defendants who have been on bond/pr pretrial to be sent home to await notice from the Bureau of Prisons for a date to surrender themselves at a prison. Again not usually for violent offenses.

Bill Cosby will be fine in jail. He'll be treated like a god. He can have his own posse.

by Anonymousreply 40September 26, 2018 6:23 AM

FUCK PUDDING POPS gen pop ALL DAY LONG FOR THIS DEVIL

by Anonymousreply 41September 26, 2018 6:37 AM

I hope he gets a very serious illness and dies in prison right before he is supposed to get out.

by Anonymousreply 42September 26, 2018 7:21 AM

He deserves prison for what he did, but I'm still sad & feel like yet another part of my childhood just died today.

Before Obama won, I was *convinced* Bill Cosby was going to be our first black president. 15-20 years ago, he *would* have been practically unbeatable (assuming the women didn't surface). His opponent wouldn't have had to run against HIM, his opponent would have been running against a beloved childhood icon & symbol of America itself. I don't even know which party he would have run under... and I don't think it would have really mattered.

Truth be told, sexual predator or not, Cosby probably would still have been a net improvement over Donald Trump. Or Hillary, for that matter. At the very least, his State of the union speeches would have been absolutely *epic*, and probably would have ended up getting sold on DVD & watched years later as entertainment.

The saddest part is, he was still raping women as an old man. You just can't rationalize away & excuse someone doing shit like that at his age & just a few years ago.

Kavanaugh? Ugh... it's one thing to be an asshole & take advantage of drunk, slutty women as a young man, but a different matter *entirely* if you're STILL DOING IT (and cranking up the intensity) long, long after any sane, ethical adult should have known better.

by Anonymousreply 43September 26, 2018 7:57 AM

r43 delusional

by Anonymousreply 44September 26, 2018 8:00 AM

"Cosby...a net improvement over...Hillary."

Wow.

by Anonymousreply 45September 26, 2018 8:16 AM

Hey, hey, HEY!

by Anonymousreply 46September 26, 2018 8:19 AM

What makes it all even creepier than it already is, is the thought of him around all those kids all those years, making kids shows, and chastising blacks from his ivory rape tower.

by Anonymousreply 47September 26, 2018 8:23 AM

Filth flarin' filth!

by Anonymousreply 48September 26, 2018 8:25 AM

"Pudding pops" is Bill Cosby's new prison name.

by Anonymousreply 49September 26, 2018 8:34 AM

Bill shouldn't have been pudding his cock were it didn't belong.

by Anonymousreply 50September 26, 2018 8:58 AM

Is anyone else finding it creepy that Cliff Huxtable was working as a a pussy doctor in his basement?

by Anonymousreply 51September 26, 2018 9:06 AM

ZIPZOPZIBBITYBOP!

by Anonymousreply 52September 26, 2018 9:10 AM

I hope the younger, willowy inmates are safe from him.

by Anonymousreply 53September 26, 2018 9:31 AM

Of course, R43. Thank God Kavanagh only raped the drunken, slutty ones. Whew! It's not like they're actual people for fuckssake!

by Anonymousreply 54September 26, 2018 1:16 PM

When did his nose start declaring eminent domain on the rest of his face?

by Anonymousreply 55September 26, 2018 1:30 PM

I wonder if his son being murdered have something to do with all the rapes he committed, like and angry husband/boyfriend/brother/cousin etc?

by Anonymousreply 56September 26, 2018 1:39 PM

[quote]Before Obama won, I was *convinced* Bill Cosby was going to be our first black president.

by Anonymousreply 58September 26, 2018 1:54 PM

R56 Cosby's rapes go back at least as far as the '60s. His son was killed in the mid-'90s.

Nice try, though.

by Anonymousreply 59September 26, 2018 1:58 PM

Do they have any prison art classes for old, 'blind' serial rapists? It seems a shame for The Pill to waste his 'Picture Pages' talent!

by Anonymousreply 60September 26, 2018 2:30 PM

What a travesty, putting a blind old man in prison for such a long time. At the very least, he should have been allowed to serve out his sentence at home.

by Anonymousreply 61September 26, 2018 3:12 PM

what a travesty thinking that is a travesty

by Anonymousreply 62September 26, 2018 3:17 PM

The SOLE "travesty" is that Rapist Cosby got away with his crimes for 30 years.

by Anonymousreply 63September 26, 2018 3:19 PM

The old saying that you get the face you deserve certainly applies in Cosby’s case.

by Anonymousreply 64September 26, 2018 3:25 PM

[QUOTE]What a travesty, putting a blind old man in prison for such a long time. At the very least, he should have been allowed to serve out his sentence at home.

Fuck you. He’s not even blind.

by Anonymousreply 65September 26, 2018 3:28 PM

R54 and R43 there is no proof that Kavannaugh raped anyone. This is a bd political gambit that won’t end well for the accusers as well as Kavannaugh.

Anyone who was raped remembers the place. You remember where you were when you woke up, the feeling of horror as you realize what happened, and the feeling of shame as you slink out. The twinge you feel when you pass that place from then on out.

This all smells bad—no matter what we think of Kavannaugh, this is a precedent that is dangerous for all men in this country. If you are male, have a father, have an uncle, have a son—this rush to believe a claim (especially when the claimant can benefit politically , financially , or in the popular court of opinion—is scary as hell

by Anonymousreply 66September 26, 2018 6:31 PM

To lighten the mood, my husband was once accused of sexual harassment when he told his secretary not to move those boxes because he thought she was pregnant. She was just fat.

by Anonymousreply 67September 26, 2018 6:33 PM

He told her she typed fat, didn't he, R67?

by Anonymousreply 68September 26, 2018 6:34 PM

oh snore R66. Sure there is no evidence he raped anyone. That's why the 3 - 3! - accusers ask for an FBI. And 2 are NOT claiming rape but gross sexual harrassment.

Pitiful try, R66.

by Anonymousreply 69September 26, 2018 6:35 PM

I’m glad you feel you can speak with such great authority for every single rape victim r66. You sure convinced me that my best female friend who was raped aged 14 and has blocked out all the details is just a lying whore making it up to get some of that sweet rich guy dough from the caretaker who raped her.

by Anonymousreply 70September 26, 2018 7:48 PM

When will TV1 stop airing The Cosby Show reruns? When Roseann fucked up reruns of her show were pulled immediately.

by Anonymousreply 71September 27, 2018 2:07 AM

He is too old and feeble to be in prison. If I was on that jury, I would never have voted to convict, no matter what the evidence.

by Anonymousreply 72September 28, 2018 2:36 AM

If anything they should have him serve his sentence in a halfway house. That way his luxuries would be taken away and he would be punished but the punishment wouldn't be as harsh as prison.

by Anonymousreply 73September 28, 2018 2:48 AM

Why do you think age means he should be treated with far more respect than the women he drugged and raped r72? I would dare you to say such a ridiculous, facile, insulting comment to a rape victim, see how fast you get punched.

by Anonymousreply 74September 28, 2018 2:54 AM

You're an asshole, R72

by Anonymousreply 75September 28, 2018 4:06 AM

A common argument for allowing elderly convicts to avoid prison is that they "aren't a danger to anyone". The thing is, Cosby drugged women RECENTLY... as an OLD MAN. I think he ABSOLUTELY has the resources and ability to do it again... and probably WOULD, if he genuinely believed he could get away with it.

This isn't one of those, "pre-teen accidentally killed a playmate while playing with guns, disposed of the body so he wouldn't get in trouble, lived a normal life for 50 years, then the truth came out & is now a vulnerable old man who did something illegal in the absurdly-distant past" cases... Cosby clearly thinks it's totally ok and normal to drug silly women so they won't ruin his night. He actually IS an old man who could continue to hurt others.

That said, I think it would be equally wrong to send him to a supermax. He's not an escape risk, and isn't a street-hardened violent criminal likely to shank a guard or another prisoner.

I'd personally offer him a choice: 3 years in general population at a medium-security prison, or "life" at a "nice" private minimum-security prison... with no possibility of parole for 20 years.

by Anonymousreply 76September 28, 2018 4:40 PM

I read an update about Bill's prison adventures online this morning. He's in a private cell for now but will be released into gen pop eventually. He can purchase a tablet to keep up with an email and he can have a tv in his cell.

by Anonymousreply 77September 29, 2018 9:38 PM

R77 I read that too. I was surprised prisoners can have tablets now.

by Anonymousreply 78September 29, 2018 9:40 PM

This has to be the most shameful fall from grace in pop culture of all time. Shit just sad. I mean he deserves his comeuppance but I feel like half my childhood just got tarnished.

by Anonymousreply 79September 29, 2018 9:40 PM

"...I would never have voted to convict, no matter the evidence. "

Exactly! Don't confuse me with facts.

by Anonymousreply 80September 29, 2018 9:48 PM

Have TV in your cell is great. I need to catch up on my shows.

by Anonymousreply 81September 29, 2018 9:51 PM

Has Claire weighed in yet?😂😶

by Anonymousreply 82October 2, 2018 4:51 PM

An 80 year old blind man shouldn't be in prison. It is cruel and unusual punishment.

by Anonymousreply 83October 24, 2018 3:02 AM

"As the comedian bids to overturn his conviction, courtroom observers recalled the now-infamous moment as [Judge] O’Neill walked through the courthouse, making a pitstop near the juror deliberation room and belted out “Twisted Nerve,” the song that Daryl Hannah’s character whistled as she was about to murder the bride in the popular 2003 Quentin Tarantino flick."

by Anonymousreply 87October 24, 2018 2:19 PM

I agree that it's cruel to put an old man in prison. And I'm white. Very white. It has nothing to do with Cosby's celebrity, I'm not even a fan. It just doesn't seem right. Make him pay financially. Put him under house arrest in a studio apartment in the Bronx. But subjecting him to prison at his age and in his condition is ridiculous.

by Anonymousreply 88October 25, 2018 12:36 AM

Maybe he could come stay with you R88? You don’t have any female relatives or friends or neighbors he can drug and rape do you? Pull out the sofa bed!

r88, Oh please. The man date raped nearly 100 women. Yeah I believe there some Janice Dickinsons aka liars in the mix, but all these women ain't making this shit up. He violated them without their consent. Date rape is just like forcible rape, you just don't have to put a gun to a victim's head because their fkin incapacitated. These women did not ask to be violated this way. Prisons have medical care. I feel no sympathy for, well actually I do; I looked up to bill Cosby growing up, but he must pay, just like any other citizen who commits heinous rapes. And everything he said about the black family unit and community is true; he still a goddam sociopath.
