She understood the camp appeal but Jess toned it down and took a different approach. I think Jess based a lot of Jill on her dirt poor upbringing and as a result a lot of anger came out through the character. Jess had some great lol moments as Jill but Brenda’s clips show she had less range than Jess. I can’t honestly imagine Brenda pulling off some of the Jill scenes post 1987.
