The only episode of this I have seen had Chastain guesting before she broke through. The show was fucking awful and ridiculous. Why did and does this still have such an ardent fan base? I mean it was completely absurd and not in a fun way, I don't recall any humor at all.

I liked the seasonal arcs that stretched over the individual Murder, She Wrote episodes, especially the first season. By season three, they’d tried mini-arcs that weren’t as compelling, so I hope they use s1 as a blueprint.

I agree with the above poster regarding Logan. I was bored by all the boyfriend shit.

But I always enjoyed the relationship with her dad as well as her friendships with Wallace and Mac.

I did see the movie in the theater. It was t great, but it played directly to the fan base who Kickstarter-funded it, and I love it for that.

How is Kristen Bell going to schedule shooting this as the lead when she’s also the star of The Good Place, which I find one of the most entertaining shows on television of late?

R12 Season 3 of the good place has already finished filming, they shoot each season over a summer and both Kristen and Ted Danson have a no more than 13 episodes per season clause in their contracts so she has plenty of time.

Is an older Jason Dohring hot? was young Jason Dohring even hot or was everyone just fooled by the badboy snarky attitude Logan had?

Jason Dohring is not hot. Logan was funny and awful in season 1, though.

I wonder if they'll be any LGBT characters in the new season, that weren't y'know, sexual abuse victims, murder victims or both. Mac would be the most obv choice to have come out in college, Weevil is probably prison gay & Dick has def fooled around with multiple guys.

I doubt it will tho, I don't think Rob Thomas likes the gays very much. On IZombie he got rid of Liv's brother who in the comics is a main character and has a whole coming out arc. the character in the tv show was seen 3/4 times, had a coming out scene which never aired (it's on the dvd deleted scenes) & disappeared after the 1st season never to be mentioned again.

The first season was great. The second season wasn't as good but was still interesting. The third season had already started to go downhill. The kickstarter movie sucked and was disappointing. Not sure I'll waste my time on the revival.

Logan was fun as proto-psychotic teen bad boy, but the actor has little range and has not aged well.

Season one was great - season two was the sequel season and not quite as good - season three was blah.

But I loved the movie! Given that time had passed - I think they did a great job of tying it all together and rebooting it. Lotsa sops to the fans as well - but mostly engaging little things that didn’t distract too much or derail anything.... great fun!

The big shock to me in the film was the actor who played Logan - holy cow! I didn’t even recognise him. Sort’ve realised it must be him by process of elimination. His body in the original series wasn’t anything to write home about - he’d worked it and it was off the charts now! - but his face was like he had a whole new head! The kind of dieting involved in looking that cut - it’s like the fat hat drained from his face as well and it had completely changed the way he looked. So odd! Disturbing even?

Season 3 wasn't as good (thanks network mandates) but it plays much better in a binge.

Kristen Bell is insufferable

Will Kristen Bell's face move in this one? Because it doesn't on The Good Place. It's really creepy.

Bell is great and VM was a very entertaining show. I was hooked when I watched it over a summer (05 maybe). I had just turned 20.

I don't have hulu so I will have to find another way to watch this.

If there's any chance Dax Shepard is going to show up, I'm out.

I wished they had done the season 3 that waspitched on one of the DVDs. Veronica was working for the FBI, and was undercover as an underage girl to expose a pedophile. It was a good looking pitch reel.

WEHT Teddy Dunn? He was an even shittier actor than Dohring but I always thought he was the cuter one.

Who wants to see this? The movie did no business and proved that the idea was bereft of any quality. Why throw more money away?

The show was different and had a lot of interesting characters. They should have never gotten bogged down in the Logan/Veronica saga. A little went a long way.

I never knew how I felt about Kyle Gallner. On one hand, I thought he was very sexy and wanted him to take me hard. On the other, he seemed sickly and had a druggie look so I never understood why I found him sexy at times.

Dick has aged very well. I never found him hot on VM but now, hell yeah. I still would have bent over for Dick back then just to hate fuck him.

I also didn't like that she ended up with Logan (PS why does he look 50?). Veronica worked better with Duncan, who was a more interesting character, although the actor playing him was so damn bland.

Logan always looked about ten years old too old for his role. That scene where the pedophile mayor was trying to come onto him was one of the most unintentionally funny scenes ever.

But I love VM. I even like the third season. The poster upthread who said it works better in a binge was right. That’s how I ended up seeing the whole series.

I also loved the movie and thought it was very underrated. The mystery reveal at the end was disturbing and shocking.

Ryan was hotter when he was younger. He reminds me of Dax in the face now.

I just watched the first episode and it was ok. Eliza Coupe guest starred and she is looking rough. Kristen Bell is almost a year older than Coupe, but looks several younger then her.

Not surprised; Bell can afford the good stuff when she goes to get her face done.

They're trying too hard to be edgy with all the sex talk, although I appreciate the shots of Logan's VPL.

I enjoyed the season. Patton Oswalt and JK Simmons were great additions to the cast, and the mystery kept you intrigued. It was jarring how Ryan Hansen disappeared after the first few episodes, especially considering the mystery revolved so much around the character's father.

Now to get to the ending, SPOILERS of course but if you are hanging around this thread you know you are likely to get spoiled.

People freaking out that they killed Logan? Idk, it seemed obvious to me it was happening when it established how happy and in love they were with each other. Shows thrive off conflict, Veronica is supposed to be the damaged protagonist, this happy perfect relationship doesn't really work for the narrative of the show.

You really have two choices, introduce conflict that drives some dramatic wedge beween Logan and Veronica before the eventually get back together (yet again). Or kill him off.

I've only seen the trailer and clips from Conan at Comic Con, but:

* Logan looked hot re-creating the Bond coming out of the ocean in square cut trunks.

* I find Ryan Hanson (Dick) better looking now than when he was younger with that awful Bieber hair.

* They made a big deal about filming in San Diego (which is where I thought it was filmed). However, the little motel that got bombed and several of the beach scenes are in Hermosa Beach, Ca. I wonder why they didn't just film it in San Diego.

It is Internet 101 - for the discussion of shows and spoilers. However, since this thread started as "Veronica Mars is coming to Hulu" - future tense - it's not unreasonable that fans of the show would read the thread and have some expectations about spoilers and how they'd be handled.

Where this gets hazy is that DL is not a discussion board devoted to particular tv shows or franchises. We don't play by standard rules for the discussion of spoilers, nor is here a moderator who will flag, tag, and move individual responses or threads.

If it's solely the responsibility of the reader, then there is not point in spoiler warnings in the first place or "spoiler inside" warnings. People could just post whatever they wanted, wherever they wanted.

We probably aren't going to agree - which is fine. There really aren't any rules. I read a few boards where the community rules are so varied and censure for spoiling so severe that I generally default to the more restrictive standards than less restrictive ones. There are some boards (and power-crazed moderators) that will ban you from posting if you break the spoiler rules.

Neptune is supposed to be in the fictional Balboa County, r79. The Balboa Peninsula is in Newport Beach, so I think that's the city they were suggesting. Also, they refer to San Diego being a short drive away (30 minutes?).

I was glad to see Leo again. He was my favorite of her beaux.

I've only watched the first two episodes of the new season, so I don't have much to say on that just yet (I was already spoiled by an interview with the cast as to the big 'news'). But i'm glad they brought it back... it's not a masterpiece but it's a fun show. Jason Dohring does look bizarre, I had no idea he was a scieno but his upbringing was weird... all 5 of he and his siblings were in showbiz, he has a set of twin brothers and a set of twin sisters and their mother was pimping them out to child casting auditions.

Agree with the posters above who say it plays better in a binge. There really isn't any other TV series exactly like it. It's kitschy and quirky, with a classical wealthy Californian teen ensemble, but also genuinely dark and mysterious. Just an interesting niche. Something like The O.C meets Twin Peaks. And it also boasts a legitimate exploration of the class system in the US, the haves vs the have-nots (which is why characters like Weevil are so important). And one of the best father/daughter relationships i've seen on TV.

I never liked her in anything else but I think Kristen Bell is terrific, and she manages a pretty tricky role on the show. She has to be the witty, wise-cracking hard-boiled detective with a lot of winks and nods at the audience, is often obnoxious and unlikeable (Veronica always has to be the 'smartest person in the room'), but she also plays the role of the audience's eyes and ears as all the mysteries unfold, also has to sell the cheesier teen romance angles, and also pull off playing a grieving daughter and friend. Bell isn't exactly the next Isabelle Huppert but having to juggle all those elements could have gone VERY wrong in the hands of another actress. It's a difficult balance that she manages to make convincing and coherent.

This new season finally had a genuinely compelling and ingenious mystery--something the show always lacked. And it managed to keep up the flurry of pop culture reference that fly by because they are dramatically apt--rather than sticking out like self-congratulatory appendages a la Gilmore GIrls.

Yes the end of the season is set up for Veronica Mars to get called to new cities to solve some mystery. Rob Thomas wants to make more, but of course it is up to Hulu.

He definitely isnt fine, the flash forward made it clear Logan hasn't been in her life and Veronica was grieving him. They did leave themselves the opening that he could be in a coma if Rob really thinks he needs to bring him back, they never explicitly say dead.

I always pictured Neptune as LaJolla or Escondido. The filmed the original run in San Diego but not the movie, which is why they made a big deal about this being filmed in SD.

So glad Logan is dead. I didn’t like the focus on romance in seasons 2 and 3.

Wallace, Leo, Dick and that lead Fitzpatrick guy aged best. I really liked the new friends Keith and Veronica got. Weevil proves that time is a theif and veneers are a vandal. I'd love to see more episodes.

I love these characters. I wish we'd see Wallace's girlfriend from season 2, Piz and Duncan. Also who was the dad's girlfriend? It was jarring when Matty walked in. I liked him with Wallace's mom. Another character I'd like to see again. Kristen Bell is a really talented actress. I don't think she's appreciated because she makes it all look really easy.
