Sons got a reasonable amount of talk here but there were Charlie Hunnam's body and Katey Sagal's camp freak-outs to enjoy. I guess JD Pardo and Danny Pino aren't as popular.

SOA seasons 1,2 and 4 are definitely worth it. Especially season 2. Season 3 was dreadful, and 5 and 6 starting collapsing under the weight of their own ridiculousness. My favorite episode in season 5: Gemma slaps a whore and the cops are all over that shit, but a gang shootout happens in the middle of town and nobody bats an eye.

I just watched the first two episodes (of Mayans) and I think it's got potential, I'll stick with it. They've already created some nice twists and multiple subplots, so it's holding my interest.

I;m really enjoying Mayans. Pino is a revelation to me playing the sexy bad guy.

I'm intrigued by the inter-meshing of the varied stories.

My only quibble is the lead actor. The role should've been given to someone similar to Hunnam .

Hunnam was dynamic & could switch from threatening to tender to funny to romantic.

I am watching this and digging it.

One thing missing in this show, compared to SOA, is the sense of humor. The camaraderie, the wisecracking and goofing around helped to balance out the more violent aspects. Overall, Mayans has a more serious tone to it.

R13, Kurt Sutter said he wanted a Boy Scout and that seems to be Pardo’s main note.

I'm confused. Can someone answer these questions?

#1 Who was the man EZ's dad met in the bar? They were talking about the man's son.

#2 Who was the family EZ's dad was looking at getting out of the minivan?

#3 What's going on with the club leader & the female politician?

#1 - The DEA agent's father. I assume he and Olmos are cousins, because the agent once said something about being EZ's 2nd cousin, IIRC

#2 - DEA agent's family. This is why Olmos said to the other guy in the bar "Hey, tell me about your grand kids." They are leverage now.

#3 - Not quite sure, but maybe brother and sister? He made a crack about her having a hot wife, so I assume she's a lesbian and that would tend to rule out that they are lovers, unless it was in a former life.

I am so planning on watching it. Just have not got to it yet. Flawed though it was , I really enjoyed SoA.

Olmos/Felipe has a different identity, so I assume that EZ's dead mother are the DEA agent's cousin (who is the DEA actor? He's hot). In Felipe's stash he had a photo of himself with heads, some death squad type thing. Theories on Reddit guess that he was either in the Cartel with Galindo's father or in Vietnam with John Teller and the First Nine (there was a Latino founding member of Sons of Anarchy).

You should watch S3--I believe--of The Shield R6. This was pre-Cold Case and L&O. He played the big bad that season. There’s a scene were Vic and the crew go to his house to fuck him up and Pino is bikini briefs. I gasped...and I’m not a gasper.

JD Pardo is FI-ONE. But I find Mayans to be kinda boring. I'm sticking with it, but it really doesn't hold my interest as much as I 'd like it to .

I first saw JD Pardo in THE BURNING PLAIN, where he played a young Danny Pino. He was already 28 but plausibly playing a teen. It's a good little movie.

What's up with the recurring motif of an animal (stray dog, possum) that always appears and seems to follow EZ around? Is it supposed to be his dead mother's spirit watching over him?

Emily is going to turn into a Gemma type, I think, and EZ is more of a John Teller than a Jack or a Clay.

Galindo has an arc like Jax’s - taking over the family business, balancing between crime and building a community.

The medical records showed he actually died from pneumonia, instead of that BS story about him being kidnapped.

They're killing off the only members of the cast who can act.

EZ, Angel and Emily leave a lot to be desired in the talent department.

Edward James Olmos and the actor playing Coco are the only ones making a big impression on me. I can overlook EZ, but Emily truly sucks.

The woman playing Adalita is pretty one note. Then again, her character is pretty much an asshole.

The music doesn’t ring true either. Not enough Morrissey.

I hate the Adelita character and storyline. It doesn't look like it will go away anytime soon either. Ugh.

R76, the way I interpret it, they lied about the little brother being lost to kidnappers as a way to convince Galindo, Jr. to give up on the idea that he was ever going to see his son alive again, that he shouldn't negotiate and just accept that this is the way their business works and move on. Consequently, he took great offense to the idea that his son was expendable.

Calling it now: Emily is going to kill her mother-in-law in the Season 2 finale.

I thought they would at least kick Dita out of their house. Surely they have other properties she could freeload in.

That Sons of Anarchy/Happy connection blew me away. Happy was always one of my favorite characters from Sons but I'm wondering if this is leading up to Happy's death and a battle with SAMCRO.

Not had the opportunity to watch it but if it ramps up as ridiculously as SoA then I’ll be happy. Talk about Grand Guignol. Sutter must have been laughing as he wrote it all, as well as on the way to the bank.

Happy was gorgeous. I was always pleased when he turned up on Sons.
