Please list the brands. I know they’re going to be more expensive, but I don’t care. I’m tired of buying crap and I’m willing to pay more if the garment lasts me a long time. Think along the lines of like, Prince William or Harry and their boots and chinos.
Excellent quality men’s clothing that isn’t made in Asia

R3 Did you learn that from Archer?

I have a nice BOSS casmere polo-collared sweater R3, it was made in Italy.

R1 You buy Brioni on Ebay?! I wouldn't trust that for a second.

Fuck! Pringle's is now manufactured in China. Sorry about that, OP.

OP: Berluti, Brunello Cucinelli, Belstaff, Boglioli, Burberry, Dunhill, Cerruti 1881, Canali, Tom Ford
by Anonymous | reply 9 | September 14, 2018 12:52 AM |
There actually may be some Asian manufacturing in a couple of the more well known, mass-consumed brands (Burberry) there...oops! Most are probably Italian made.

Lands End is pretty good quality (God I hope it is made anywhere but in China)

by Anonymous | reply 19 | September 14, 2018 2:08 AM |
R19 Well, they did mention The Princes so "Eurotrash" was what they were looking for. Haven't heard of 90%+ of those Made in USA brands and I can only imagine what the clothes look like and how poor the quality is.

James Perse t-shirts.

[R6] Buy all my Brionis from ebay. Some brand-new; others worn one or two times but in excellent condition. Huge savings when they are new and used too. Brought a jacket with a missing button into the Brioni flagship store on Madison to have it replaced and the manager was tres snob that I had bought the jacket from ebay and he begrudgingly sent the jacket down the street to the tailor shop. They don't want to be undersold. Brioni shirts, suits, pants and jackets - all gorgeous!

I don’t think Harry and William have ever worn anything off the rack in their lives unless it’s for a photo op showing how “relatable they are”. They have everything custom made. I don’t think those two know HOW to shop.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | September 14, 2018 3:57 AM |
Well, they wear jeans off the rack and Harry's ass looks particularly nice in them.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | September 14, 2018 4:01 AM |
Pendleton is now mostly made in China. The fabric is still woven in Oregon, but they send it overseas. Same with a lot of US and UK heritage brands.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | September 14, 2018 4:05 AM |
R22 Have they all been authentic? You were never duped by a black market knockoff? You should try The Real Real. It's new or lightly worn (mostly) high-end brands that have been authenticated.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | September 14, 2018 4:15 AM |
[28]: Bring them in for alterations to one of the best tailors in NYC; they are not knockoffs. Tailor knows quality clothing. Many have Neiman Marcus labels. Some are a few years old, but so what?

Shoes and clothes factories are moving out of China to SE Asia and Africa. Even the Chinese don't want these shitty jobs anymore.

[quote]Haven't heard of 90%+ of those Made in USA brands and I can only imagine what the clothes look like and how poor the quality is.
No, you're wrong. Some of them may be hick country brands but there's a major trend toward local, artisan brands in this country that are dedicated to very high quality and products that last. Just picking one at random (I swear I'd never heard of them before): look at Raleigh Jeans. (They're also not cheap.)

I hate snobbish shop bottoms.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | September 14, 2018 5:30 AM |
A lot of pieces labeled "made in Italy" are really only finished in Italy. Often by Chinese in Italy.
Given that, OP, I think what you need to do is ask the shop bottom if the item was touched only by Europeans 😂
Because that's what matters, right?
by Anonymous | reply 33 | September 14, 2018 5:34 AM |

I make only $60k a year but I only consume products made in 1st world countries. I drive a BMW, purchase clothes, accessories and shoes only from brand names such as Dolce, Versace, Prada, Louis Vuitton, etc. However, to offer this luxury lifestyle, I have been living in a filthy basement of a chinese landlord to whom I pay only $500/month that includes electricity, water and wifi. Life is good. Everyone thinks I’m very well to do.

All of the movies Lynch did after Wild at Heart are his best because they don't follow Hollywood conventional plots. This is a big reason I don't think I will ever see Blue Velvet as a great movie. Lynch does not do conventional plots well and this is totally apparent in Blue Velvet. Sandy finds out Jeff is sleeping with Dorothy and then slaps him hard. Yet the very next scene is of her crying on the phone, saying "I LOVE you, Jeffrey!".

Here is a shocker to many of you, a lot garment factories in Italy, France, Spain...are owned by Chinese, not only they produce certain "European" brands that target Asian markets, they also make clothes for other well known brands, so when you buy a shirt that made in Europe, and think it worth the price. Maybe it's because you are willing to pay more here, it's not really about where it was made,
by Anonymous | reply 48 | November 26, 2020 11:43 PM |
Motorcycle jacket brands made in the US include Vanson, Langlitz, Johnson Leathers (SF), etc.
Wesco boots are US-made too. For those who are into that sort of thing.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | November 26, 2020 11:43 PM |
Most of the European factories use Asian and Eastern European workers, some factories are owned by Asians. Not sure if that’s a dealbreaker for some? I know some people who try to buy from brands that pay workers a living wage and have good working conditions which will attract native workers and it’s a short list. I don’t have the money to do that but I have stopped buying “fast fashion”. I have a dozen T-shirts I really don’t need a $3.99 one. Same with food. I have groceries at home, I don’t need to stop for a $2 artery blocker but life is boring and it’s easy to shop and eat because it’s there and it’s cheap and you get a little buzz from consuming. I have bought belts, a wallet, a weekend bag and a dinner plates from local artists at a reasonable price.

Check GQ for USA menswear brands. I have included a link. A guy I work with who is tall and gorgeous and from the Midwest and I noticed he wears Filson it’s understated and high quality.
Actually the Made in Italy brand has been exploited by the Chinese who set up manufacturing in Italy to make their cheap products seem higher quality. That’s why covid took off in northern Italy 🇮🇹 there are direct flights from Milan to China 🇨🇳 They bring in Chinese workers for the Chinese factories and house them in dorms etc. so not much economic benefit to Italy and a downgrade of their standards for fashion made in Italy which used to be an indicator of quality and commanded a price premium.

Turnbull & Asser.
per wiki---Turnbull & Asser is a gentleman's bespoke shirtmaker established in 1885. The company has its flagship store on Jermyn Street, St James's, as well as its bespoke store around the corner on Bury Street. In addition to the two London stores, they also have a further store the Turnbull Townhouse located in New York.
The fashion house has dressed figures such as Prince Charles, Sir Winston Churchill[1], Ronald Reagan, George H. W. Bush, Charlie Chaplin, Sir Laurence Olivier, Lauren Bacall and Pablo Picasso. It is notably famous for its work in film, providing shirts and ties for the James Bond films Dr. No, The World Is Not Enough and Casino Royale, 1974's The Great Gatsby and more recently, Kingsman and its sequel, Kingsman II: The Golden Circle[2]. Although predominantly a men's clothier, it also specialises in ladies pyjamas (as seen on Sophia Loren in A Countess from Hong Kong[3]) as well as bespoke shirts. All of its shirts, accessories and clothing is made in England.[4]

R56 High quality "Made in Italy" is alive an well. The top luxury Italian brands still make clothes that are among the finest in the world. Of course there are Chinese work rooms that make "fast fashion" just as there are in France and the UK etc.. And as for that list of clothing made in the USA, you honestly think they're are no Chinese sweat shops working within the US?
