Dog whistle from Junior Mint? ————- You can write some sensational nonsense book, CNN will definitely have you on because they love trash the president, it’ll mean you sell 3 extra book, you’ll make three extra shekels at the behest of the American people, at the behest of our country and a president doing a phenomenal job by every quantifiable metric. Is that where we are? People read through this…”
by Anonymous | reply 5 | September 12, 2018 5:10 PM |
Thanks, OP!
I'm trying to determine in the OP's photo which is the top and which is the bottom?
by Anonymous | reply 6 | September 12, 2018 5:16 PM |
“Behest”?
I don’t think that means what you think it means.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | September 12, 2018 5:19 PM |
Is that a real quote R5? (of course it is) I thought you were doing some sort of ranting parody of a brain-dead Trumpette.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | September 12, 2018 5:21 PM |
Or is it 'Reasons To Remain Anomynous', OP? 😂

R6 "I'm trying to determine in the OP's photo which is the top and which is the bottom?"
Why does this question always come up. Most of the time with closeted men like Pence, the answer is neither. They're only into sucking dick.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | September 12, 2018 5:59 PM |
r13 or eating the top's shit. As in literally eating another man's shit.

No tweets about storm risks to the citizens of South Carolina.
But tweeting up a storm attacking the DOJ/FBI.

Probably depends on how much cash Pence brought that day.

[quote]@LindseyGrahamSC I completely support House Republican efforts to have President Trump declassify the FISA warrant applications, the Bruce Ohr/Chris Steele interactions, and all other relevant information regarding allegations of corruption in the DOJ & FBI.
I can just see Miss L. demanding this atop a grand staircase.
"I say to you: Release those documents, Sahr!"
by Anonymous | reply 22 | September 12, 2018 6:39 PM |
People need to start asking about Ms. Graham. People need to tweet reporters and the rest of the media to investigate. Exactly what might Ms. Graham be hiding, and who knows it, and how are they using it?

Anti-semitic vampire Eric Trump appeared on Fox & Friends to claim that Bob Woodward is making "extra shekels" from sales of his new book. Junior Mint must be thrilled that Eric is the stupider Trump son.

I’m determined to get the name of the Op-Ed. From the other thread:
It’s what I’ve said too. It’s definitely one of the DL queens in the Pence sphere. That’s why it’s so critical we find out the name — it will damage Pence even more, and the NYT will NOT leak it. So it’s got to either come from the author (it won’t) or one of the few people who the author confided in. We need a campaign of public pressure of complete guilt-tripping of this person.
“No REAL Christian could keep this a secret. No REAL American would keep this a secret. No REAL Republican/Conservative would keep this a secret.” Lower the boom, one them will break.

It is kind of obvious that Graham has been caught up in some grifter game that Trump has gotten him involved in. He twist and he squirms but he is cause and Putin won't let him go.

Woodward's book also reminds us that Lindsey is a war hawk on the psychotic levels of John Bolton, he always has been, and he's using his access to trump to try to talk him into assassinating rulers and starting wars all over the world. Lindsey can be fun and witty so everyone forgets the guy is nuts.

[quote]Lindsey is a war hawk on the psychotic levels of John Bolton,
Absolutely. He's a psycho neocon just like Bolton. People seem to forget that he and McCain literally went to Syria to support ISIS-aligned rebels. Graham is a hardcore AIPAC whore just like Bolton, Pompeo and Trump. They do Israel and Saudi Arabia's bidding. All they do is create more hate towards the US with the same fucking foreign policy for decades. Destroy every fucking country in the ME and creating the fanaticism. You destroy people's countries and kill their families and you wonder why they hate you?
And frankly, Dems have been a part of this tiresome foreign policy going back a long time. Their hands aren't clean.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | September 12, 2018 11:00 PM |
R59 Their hands aren't clean but things haven't been so cut and dry in the ME. Most Dems thought they were doing the right thing whole Repugs want war and want the oil.

No, R61, I actually did vote for Hillary despite my reservations and despite the fact that I didn't have to since I'm in NY. As a NYer, the idea of Trump so much as being in the WH as a tourist, disgusted me.

R73 but of course! Madonna said, as she was touring Russia in 2012 speaking out in support of Pussy Riot, that she would never play Russia again despite being very popular there. She warned the world of Putin as far back as 2006 when she first toured Russia. By 2012, she told VICE in 2012, she saw the fascism rising in Europe back in 2008-09 and especially in 2012 and said Putin was dangerous. She had a very public tiff with Marine La Pen who sent her goons to a Madonna concert to get violent They did and she left the stage early.

I'm guessing President FatAss will pull out all the stops for the Atlantic coast after his disastrous response to Puerto Rico. Any normal "manager" would. But I also have a feeling the big fat nazi idiot is going to reach for money that just isn't there, because he spent it somewhere else.
How long before that aryan hog starts claiming he's using his hundreds of billions of his own dollars to keep the country afloat? I shudder to think of the millions of deplorables who will believe him.
by Anonymous | reply 76 | September 13, 2018 3:45 AM |
Do we have any money left after all the corporate/ rich tax cuts and huge, unnecessary military spending? Now another round of tax cuts are on the table with a trillion dollar deficit (that no one cares about all of a sudden......hmmmmm). Where will we get the money for FEMA and disaster relief?
by Anonymous | reply 77 | September 13, 2018 3:48 AM |
It feels like this week there’s been a tipping point with Trump’s poll numbers plummeting, like his supporters have been evaporating. And along with that an increasing likelihood of impeachment next year. It feels like the beginning of the end.
by Anonymous | reply 78 | September 13, 2018 3:50 AM |
honestly, this is one thing all those stupid tax cuts and war spending have proven: deficits really do not matter. If we want to spend money on FEMA, we can. If we don't spend the money on disaster relief, it really is because we do not give a shit. It really is.
by Anonymous | reply 79 | September 13, 2018 3:51 AM |
FEMA money went to putting kids in cages.
by Anonymous | reply 80 | September 13, 2018 3:53 AM |
I wonder if killing off a political pop figure in Russian instead of a politician or oligarch might be one of those weird things that sets off a revolution where history looks back and goes, "Really, that's what started it?"
by Anonymous | reply 81 | September 13, 2018 6:03 AM |
R80 the New York Times has reporting that there are now 17 thousand immigrants in a dentemtion camp. Also reporting that Trump wants to give Mexico $$ millions to stop people from coming into the US
by Anonymous | reply 82 | September 13, 2018 6:10 AM |
Giving Mexico money to stanch the flow is a good idea. The EU does that in Turkey and Libya. It works.
by Anonymous | reply 83 | September 13, 2018 6:20 AM |
Asshole at R83, most of these people are seeking asylum from the drug syndicates and dictators running many of the South American countries. The ones that aren't legitimately seeking asylum are, and have been for a good decade at this point, sent home in record numbers.

by Anonymous | reply 86 | September 13, 2018 9:28 AM |
I spoke to a friend Upstate whose mother and husband both voted for Trump. I asked if they're still on the bandwagon. She said well, we all think he is unhinged.
Then she added why does the media hyperventilate 24 hrs a day about him? Why can't they just ignore his tweets. Then I reminded her he sets policy via tweet, he has weaponized the justice department and attacked enemies via tweet. It needs to covered, this is unprecedented and not normal. She agreed. Then she said it's really hard to be a white man now. I just laughed and said, don't think white men have it pretty good? They pretty run everything.
by Anonymous | reply 87 | September 13, 2018 11:57 AM |
R84, if the EU does it, I'm ok with it.
Anyways, nice article about Mueller's genius PR strategy today.

Dump just tweeted that only "6 to 18 people" died in Puerto Rico but the Democrats inflated the number to make him look bad.
Every day he sets the bar lower and lower...
by Anonymous | reply 90 | September 13, 2018 1:09 PM |
Every day he just keeps getting more batshit crazy, more like.
by Anonymous | reply 91 | September 13, 2018 1:16 PM |
r90, r91, any other president (and certainly a Democratic one) would have been impeached and removed by the Congress by now, but this guy just gets away with this shit over and over and over. Because we have a feckless Congress who won't do diddly squat about it, and because he has a cabinet that won't 25th amendment him.
So we are stuck with him.
Fuck us.
by Anonymous | reply 92 | September 13, 2018 1:21 PM |
R90 here; that effing horrid tweet needed its own thread; thanks to whoever created it.
by Anonymous | reply 93 | September 13, 2018 1:29 PM |
Trump's tweets about the number of people who died in Puerto Rico last year are a new low even for him; that we have a so-called president of the United States not believing death statistics put out by a reliable agency is just beyond the pale. And now, what else? He's blaming the Democrats again. This man never takes responsibility for ANYTHING.
I didn't think I could hate him anymore than I already did; I was wrong.
by Anonymous | reply 94 | September 13, 2018 1:30 PM |
Yeah, I think this is the first time he's literally declared war on facts, instead of just being hostile to them.
by Anonymous | reply 95 | September 13, 2018 2:04 PM |
Maybe Eric's and Juniors's evil just shows on their face?
by Anonymous | reply 96 | September 13, 2018 2:08 PM |
That is why Putin forced Trump and Republicans to hand out huge tax cuts for the wealthy...so there would be no money to run our government. When the shot really his the fan and people start to realize what has been done, I think the Republicans will be over.
Trump is planning on more tax cuts and hevwill get them.

by Anonymous | reply 106 | September 13, 2018 2:58 PM |
Funny that Eric is so worked up about a book which will only sell 'three copies.' And, as if the Trump tribe isn't obsessed beyond all else by 'shekels.' Specially with oligarch input.
He's illiterate too in confusing 'behest' with 'expense', a silly pretentious mistake. So, no argument worth making and expressed badly too. Apple, tree etcetera.
by Anonymous | reply 107 | September 13, 2018 3:06 PM |
I am sorry if that goes off topic, but on an anonymous message board you don't really have the luxury to give a poster the benefit of the doubt when his comment, or comments, seem like coming from a divisive troll. Same with the "concerned" troll or the "I've heard a rumor that the far left is responsible for this" troll. Not to mention the "I am a die hard Liberal, but the way HIllary handled her emails ..." troll.

It's the benefit of the doubt, R108, that enables us to have compassion or understanding. I get what you're saying regarding time and place, however, and agree. We've all had to learn some hard lessons regarding positive and negative reinforcements and psychological manipulations.
It's not determined, R109. at this time, whether he sleeps at all. His coffin has yet to be discovered.

[quote] Funny that Eric is so worked up about a book which will only sell 'three copies.' And, as if the Trump tribe isn't obsessed beyond all else by 'shekels.' Specially with oligarch input.
Trump is obsessed with success and winning. And of course he doesn't like it when others win, like writing books about him, without him getting the biggest cut from the profits and the biggest credit.

Woodward’s Michigan accent is very unpleasant to hear. I forgot how grating that could sound.
That said, I’m so happy that every one of these Trump tell-all books is breaking all sorts of records on Amazon and given even MORE publicity by the idiotic Trump family itself.
I also agree that Eric Trump had some sort of work done recently. All the negative comments about his physical appearance (as well as being totally mocked on SNL) must have led him to arrange for emergency surgery.

Senate Democrats Have Referred A Secret Letter About Brett Kavanaugh To The FBI.
Rumors about the letters’ contents have flooded Capitol Hill over the last week, but Sen. Dianne Feinstein has declined to share its contents.
“This matter has been referred to the FBI for investigation,” Sen. Dick Durbin told BuzzFeed News when asked about the letter on Thursday.
In a statement later Thursday, Feinstein confirmed that she had referred the letter to "federal investigative authorities."

R122, that sounds really juicy. What do we think are the contents of the letter?
Re: last night’s Rachel. You’ve got to love how Kavanaugh is trying to spin gambling debts as bills for the repairs of an old house. Who the fuck does he think he’s kidding? Let’s see all the receipts that back up that assertion, bitch.

by Anonymous | reply 124 | September 13, 2018 5:23 PM |
I would think sex stuff:
BuzzFeed News contacted the woman believed to be the subject of the letter at her home last week. She declined to comment. BuzzFeed News has not been able to confirm the contents of the letter.
The lawyer believed to be representing the woman was seen leaving Capitol Hill Wednesday evening shortly after the Intercept story dropped and just as Judiciary Committee Democrats were huddling in the Senate lobby. The lawyer, Debra Katz has not confirmed that she is representing the woman. She also declined to comment Wednesday, saying “there’s nothing to say.”

I imagine the letter will force the Republicans' hand and they will call for a vote cloak & dagger style in the next few days before the content of that letter becomes public knowledge. One show as surprisingly critical: On Thursday, Fox News’ Outnumbered panel slammed President Donald Trump for his conspiratorial tweets about how many people died in Puerto Rico because of Hurricane Maria.
Trump, while tweeting on Thursday morning, disputed the estimated death toll of 3,000 — calling it a Democrat plot to disparage him. Fox co-host Melissa Francis blasted the president’s tweets as “distasteful.” She added, “to take up on the issue of how many people are dead is so disgusting.”
“It cheapens us as a country,” Harris Faulkner said.

Guys, I volunteer for the DNC in my state and our volunteers are dropping out week by week. A lot of people show up one or two times and that’s it.
Please, please, volunteer to call people, register them to vote or go door to door for the DNC in your state. It’s a pain in the ass, but it’s really necessary. My neighborhood group has gone from about ten people to three last night. And the only ones that stick it out are seniors. We have people who are on oxygen, are using walkers, or are blind who are willing to call, young people are not. Watching these elderly people who can hardly walk calling people and begging them to vote is inspiring but it’s also scary. What happens when that generation is gone? The young people mostly don’t give a shit.

R233, one does not "accept" a pardon. The pardon is bestowed, regardless of what the pardoned party wants. A felon in prison cannot refuse a pardon bestowed upon him and somehow continue to be imprisoned in accordance only with his will. A felon released from prison cannot refuse one, either.

by Anonymous | reply 239 | September 14, 2018 5:08 AM |
R236, I really love being talked down to but don't really have the time right now so I'll just tell you you're completely wrong.
[quote]In 1833, the Supreme Court ultimately weighed in on the issue, ruling “A pardon is a deed, to the validity of which delivery is essential, and delivery is not complete without acceptance. It may then be rejected by the person to whom it is tendered, and if it be rejected, we have discovered no power in a court to force it on him.”
There are some other cases affirming that decision. Commutation is the more questionable area but a pardon can be declined.
As an aside, you're a white male, aren't you? If not, that's a whole lot of mansplaining to come from anyone without a privileged pecker. You might want to think about that because even anonymously on a bitchy message board, you come across as a giant ass.

by Anonymous | reply 246 | September 14, 2018 9:58 AM |
Yeah, Graham is inserting herself into all kinds of shit. She just wrote another letter to Rosenstein demanding another Special Counsel to investigate the DOJ & FBI.
There needs to be a special counsel to investigate her funds: $800,000 in "Russher" oligarch PAC finds. The same for her colleagues including Mitch.
And instead of the media clamouring to her cutesy one-liners, how about asking her pointedly about Kompromat? She'll run from the cameras then on, and her letters to DOJ won't be so bitchy and frequent.
by Anonymous | reply 247 | September 14, 2018 10:01 AM |
Does Graham get paid for every time he goes in front of a camera or reports about him show up in the media? He sure seems to have some motivation to seek the spotlight for some reason.

No, it's just protocol. The FBI background investigation (BI) was begun at the request of the WH. So, it is technically their BI. When the BI goes to the Judiciary Committee, and a question arises during the nomination process related to the BI, then either the chair or ranking member can request the FBI do additional work. That report, whatever it contains, will go to the WH and the Judiciary Committee.

When Dotard and Republicans start in this has nothing to do with Trump or the campaign please remind them that Manafort has had an apartment in Trump Tower for years, he was business partners with Trump's best buddy Roger Stone, he picked Pence, he was at the Trump Tower meeting and took notes which implicate the RNC, and when they said Manafort left the campaign that was a lie. He was involved the entire time. It was Manafort who told Trump exactly where to go to in the last few days of the election and Manafort was also very involved in the transition.

I'm actually pretty hopeful this could be what we've been waiting for, and I'm the biggest pessimist here. There was an article months ago somewhere that had people saying Trump wasn't worried about Manafort, that he'd never flip and sell him out. Ok, well, if he can flip and sell you out, that implies he knows some shit, doesn't it? And I'm guessing Roger Stone and Jr. have tremendously wet pants right about now, too. Manafort has been sleazing his way around the world for decades working for Putin and the Russian mob, somehow finds himself running Trump's campaign, for free, but he probably has nothing big to offer?
And there's Pence, too. Pence was hand-picked by Paul Manafort who was obviously working for Russians. Why did they want Pence?
I don't buy the line this isn't a big deal. I think it's huge.

Is it just a closety vibe? I have good dykedar with women and usually good gaydar with men, but when I see Pence I just see a sociopathic smarm, nothing particularly gay. He fits the classic pattern of using extreme religion to suppress his homosexual desires. The late Christopher Hitchens said that he always expectes an especially homophobic politician to eventually fall prey to a same sex scandal.
I have mentioned elsewhere the claim by a male escort in Florida that when Pence first surfaced nationally as the Veep choice, he recognized the guy as someone who had hired him. The Republican Governors Association had been in Orlando, I think it was, within the previous couple of years.

It is clear Mueller knows all that has occurred. He knows all the Russia connections with Dump, the election was stolen not just tampered with with full knowledge from Dump. Manatee should be executed for treason but they will let him go because that bitch has some bodies that need to be unearthed and it will all lead straight to Dump.

Vanity Fair reporter Emily Jane Fox, who obviously has an in with Michael Cohen, rather pointedly told Rachel Maddow tonight that Cohen wouldn’t just know what Trump’s been up to the past few decades, he’d also know what the children have done.

There needs to be rumors spread that the entire GOP is also in bed with Russher and they knew of the election meddling and welcomed it. We all know it is TRUE but the heat needs to be turned up to a billion on the Repugs. The Dems have too much integrity which is why we often lose. The entire party needs to have their motives and every move questioned outright NOT just Dump.

It's fascinating.

Lawfare pocast today discussed along other things a pardon. At this point it would be seen as witness tampering, an impeachable offense. Signals from Republicans in Congress to Trump that it would r going too far. Essentially it's too late for Trump to pardon Manafort.
Also, some concern Manafort will be like Webster Hubble in Whitewater: Central figure flipped but had nothing useful. Unlikely Mueller makes such a deal.

“Yeah comity and "resets" have to go. No more.”
Er? Oh, I get it, R358, you’re saying Gore shouldn’t have protested in 2000, and you’re getting out in front of the calls for a new election when it is shortly revealed that the actual voters in the 2016 General Election were tampered with, and that Hillary won the electoral election as well as the general. I guess “no resets” is what you have been instructed to disseminate in poor English across anonymous internet boards.

R370 here: unless, R358, and I am giving you the benefit of the doubt here, you meant no more “let’s place nice with the Republicans” re-sets? Which did you mean?

by Anonymous | reply 374 | September 15, 2018 5:42 AM |
R370 how did you interpret me completely the opposite?
No more comity means no more playing nice with Republicans. Comity is commonly practiced among senators in particular. Feinstein is big on comity. Abnegation, accommodation, sometimes appeasement. So I'm saying no more of that.
"Resets" refers to the habit of new administrations to reapproach Russia for a fresh start. They're called "resets." So what I'm saying is we need to accept that Russia is an enemy and isn't interested in good-faith fresh starts with us.
by Anonymous | reply 376 | September 15, 2018 7:00 AM |
I apologize, R376, I definitely got you wrong, which is why I re-posted once I realized another interpretation was possible. You do realize that “no do-overs”, “no re-sets” is being parroted by the right wing in regards to potentially contesting a hacked 2016 election though, don’t you?

R398/R407. Miz Lindzey receives particular attention because she is on key Senate committees, craves camera attention, and is rather articulate with her talking points, as flawed and disturbing as the agenda behind them. Grassley is another annoyance, but less out front in garnering personal attention cheering for Trump. Others in the House that will go to all ends to promote, enable, and defend Trump include, but not limited to, Mark Meadows, Matt Gaetz, Louie Gohmert, Jim Jordan, DeSantis (running for Fla. Gov.), etc. They need pushback and countered.

Okay, so, one of my fuck buddies who works on the Hill just stopped over. During pillow talk, he was spilling some tidbits and I was mentally recording them so I could share them with you guys. Here we go:
- Rudy Guiliani has full-on dementia. His soon-to-be-ex-wife, Judith Guiliani (who is actually his third wife since his first marriage to his cousin was annulled) is writing a tell-all book in which lots of T will be dropped. He said that something happened to Rudy five years ago and he has been in decline ever since. His law firm was looking for an excuse to drop him and when he became an appendage of Donald Trump, they took advantage and got rid of him.
- my buddy is about 80% sure that Trump will be impeached based on what he has heard. Dems will take back the House and have a (more favorable by the day) chance of taking the Senate.
- Melania took a separate car to the State of the Union address even though she was supposed to accompany Trump. They have publicly fought in front of people and it’s not pretty.
- The reason that Michael Cohen and Lanny Davis are still insisting that Cohen has never been to Prague is that the Kremlin safehouse where he negotiated the DNC hack was outside of Prague proper so he technically never set foot in the actual city of Prague.
I’ll keep you posted if I find anything else out.

by Anonymous | reply 423 | September 15, 2018 6:23 PM |
My feeling is that Trump will leave after election day when it is proved that he was a massive whopping drag, causing them serious Senate loss. Pence will take over immediately, but my gut feeling is that he will be gone by the end of the year, wanting the lifetime status of ex-president, but not the Trump baggage, or his own, that goes with it. That way, they can get Ryan in as acting president for the rest of the term before the Dems come into power.
by Anonymous | reply 424 | September 15, 2018 6:25 PM |

R423, there was no discussion of the source of the NYT op-ed (honestly, I completely forgot to ask), but my friend did mention something about the Trumps going into “exile.” Not quite sure what that could mean.
He also told me to read the entire Steele Dossier again.
In addition, there was some other person who was going to get the George Papadopoulos treatment, but investigators realized that he wasn’t in on the important meeting that we keep seeing pictures of. The reason? The guy is autistic and “acts weird” so he was kept out of meetings with Trump and was, therefore, inadvertently shielded from similar exposure.

Even if it wasn't obvious Rudy has dementia it's been clear for awhile he's a degenerate liar. So I can't figure out why reporters rush to breathlessly report every word he utters. He sand-bagged NPR just yesterday telling them Manafort's deal had a clause he wouldn't talk about Trump and the agreement shows Manafort has to talk about everything.
But I'll bet there are reporters even this morning hearing from Rudy and they'll write it up later as 'sources close to the President say....'
by Anonymous | reply 430 | September 15, 2018 7:01 PM |
In certain ways, if Giuliani has dementia, the Trump team can use that to an advantage. When Giuliani makes proven false statements or blatant contradictions, they can blame it on confusion or short-term memory loss. Otherwise, he's being used to fling shit on the wall and see what sticks.

The media needs to stop salivating over garnering interviews with Rudy Giuliani, and giving Lindsey Graham and national audience daily.
Both need to answer questions more personal in this saga. Giuliani's collaborative engagement with the NYC FBI field office per advanced knowledge of DNC/HRC Emails releases/re-investigating by the FBI; and Graham's 180 after "golfing" with Trump, both have lingering, suspicious dimensions.
Rudy's denial doesn't match what he exclaimed and implied at the time. Lindsey's declaration that he is "my President and I will help him", is not good enough.

Pretty confident here, Trump will not go down unless Pence is brought down beforehand or at the same time. Trump will squeal on Pence if he sees him taking over. Trump will do a 'Lying Ted' job on Pence. Wonder what nickname Trump has for Pence already? Trump may see Pence useful for pardons, but Trump will attempt to do the pardon rounds himself before he would be forced out of office.
Trump's full base will not automatically get behind Pence in an enthusiastic way. Pence will captivate the hardcore religious fundamentalists, but not the other components of Trump's support. The old GOP establishment is not crazy about Pence anyway. In the past, the Koch Bros we're generous to Pence. But they will give to someone that looks more of a winner.
Trump does not hide his emotions and attitudes. Pence can fake allegiances. I don't want to see Pence rewarded or elevated. Trump has no loyalties except to himself and perhaps some family members. Ironically, he would be more apt to work with a Democratic controlled Congress as long as what he signs are "wins". Pence is more party ideology and even more susceptible to special interests and their donors.

Before the late 1960s, there was no way to fill a VP vacancy, after a VP was elevated to the Presidency. Imagine that!

Correction: Zina's white supremacist gesture was even MORE contrived and conspicuous than the coast guard guy's—I just rewatched the video and he really just flashes it (after furtively checking out his view of the camera), whereas she held hers at an odd angle for a bit of time.
R485, it means that white supremacism is mainstreamed—there are people out there who think whites should have privileged status (or even the only status) in American civil society, and thanks to Trump and the Republicans generally, their more and more open about it. Good to see some pushback.

August two years ago, before the 2016 election—
"We don't know why Trump's top advisors have ties to Putin."
"Trump advisor Michael Flynn is weirdly, strangely friendly with Vladimir Putin's regime."
"We don't know why Russia is trying to influence this election . . . or why Donald is inviting them to."
"We don't know how much Trump has invested in Russia . . . or how much they've invested in him."
"We don't know what's going on here, and Donald won't tell us."
"We'll let you guess."

"Some" of DJT's base supporters are beginning to accept they have been fed lies. They largely embrace Trump views, but are recognizing the conflicts in information delivered.
On policy matters, part of it can be chalked-up to how politics works with his methodology. However with the Mueller investigation, they see the indictments, and are acknowledging that perhaps Trump really has been playing around badly with Putin. These base voters probably never had a passion for Russia, but were willing to not question Trump's assertions about his involvement with "Russher". ---------------

Repugs in the House are not freaking out as much as you'd think because they all believe Dump will stop this somehow OR they will cooperate and hope to "step down for family reasons" as some already have. Is there any chance that Pence is currently leading the coup against Trump? First comes the NYT letter which feeds into Donald's paranoia. Then someone whispers in Donald's ear that Mattis is a secret democrat. All leading to a confrontation between Trump and Mattis, at which point Trump finally does something so deranged that Mattis is forced to order Trump restrained and quickly calls a meeting of the cabinet, convincing everyone that they need to vote on the 25th. He's the only one with the balls to take the lead and persuade everyone it needs to be done.
Pence heroically steps in as President and gives a sad speech to the country about how Donald had a breakdown due to the harassment of democrats. A recording is released to the country, so the entire country can hear Donald's breakdown, which we all knew was coming, right? Trump is sent to "recover" at a military hospital. He is officially diagnosed with some kind of dementia, and the sad diagnosis is shared with the world, at which point a lot of people report "Told you so." Trump doesn't bother to challenge the coup, because he cannot understand what is happening. JaVanka are given a choice... go along with things, and Pence will make sure they never spend a day in jail. Ivanka gives a sad speech to the country, thanking President Pence for his support during this difficult time. Pence hires a new attorney general, Mueller is fired, Don Jr. is actually arrested and imprisoned, and Pence tells the country it's time to let the past go so that everyone can heal. When opponents try to bring up the crookedness of the Trump administration, Pence sadly shakes his head at how someone could politicize the issue of dementia.

Those 65 include his wife's friends, women he knows that he has not had any controversy with, spouses of old colleagues, parents of kid's friends, fellow church members, etc. Note, Kavanaugh has a support and advisory team behind him. A PAC is running tv ads promoting him. His handlers can find the people they need.
Still, I actually believe Kavanaugh's nomination is in trouble. Dems in red states have a political outlet not to vote for him. It will take just two Republicans to vote against him. Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski could vote no if the story gets more revealing and pressure mounts. They will not want to vote affirmatively on someone under the cloud of sexual assault allegations.

R584, if you go by the usual Committee rules, there must be nine members present, with two members of the minority party, for any Committee "business" to be conducted. Of course, as R585 notes, the rules can be suspended. I seem to recall that the Committee chair can also direct the sergeant-at-arms to hunt down two minority party members and compel them to appear.

"There's all kinds of studies on this that we take a look at," he continued. "Spousal abuse goes through the roof. You can't blame spousal abuse after a disaster on anybody."

So what is Nunes' angle on this?

r591 What does "Dead Eyes" Devin Nunes think he is going to accomplish by releasing the transcripts? It might make the Deplorables less likely to vote rather than more likely.

I wondered the same thing. There has to be an angle that supports their 'no collusion' BS, like if the documents are carefully redacted to remove any harmful information, or if only the documents supporting their claim are declassified. I don't for one second expect Nunes to suddenly sprout an honest bone in his corrupt body.

It could be a couple of things. Technically, Nunes stepped down from his lead position on the committee for this investigation, with Conway taking the lead. Conway is, so far, not going along with this, so there could be a good cop / bad cop thing going on.
It could also just be a distraction, trying to change the subject, throw a lot of chaff out there, knowing that the media will look through everything, which could, at least temporarily, get rid of a few topics that Republicans really don't like right now.

Kyle Cheney's Twitter feed is showing that Nunes isn't telling the truth.
[quote]They’re not classified. Nunes has no classification or declassification authority. Committee Dems have been calling for months to make these transcripts public.

Adam Schiff on Nunes' tactic:
[quote]Nunes promised to release all the witness interviews, then reneged. We hope this time he will follow through. The American people deserve to see what the witnesses said, the many questions they would not answer, and the how often the Majority — to protect Trump — let them refuse.
