Our Sally of the Sally Field Programme was molested
by Anonymous | reply 74 | September 19, 2018 3:04 AM |
OMG, not our Sally. [bold]Straight men are pigs[/bold].
This actually makes me sad. Who would want to hurt someone like sweet Sally??? A straight man of course.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | September 11, 2018 8:16 PM |
So she wrote this, I assume, while Burt was still alive and could defend himself? I don't know what her claims are but if she thought Burt was going to read her book it makes those claims more believable. I hate to think she just wants to sell a lot of books.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | September 11, 2018 8:34 PM |
Must've helped her portray Sybil so convincingly.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | September 11, 2018 8:38 PM |
Her real life stepfather was a character in "Hooper," the Brian Keith guy, which much have been difficult for her to deal with at the time.
And she called out a lot of people who are still with us, so I'm certain she'd intended for Burt to see and respond.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | September 11, 2018 8:47 PM |
Brian Keith in Hooper wasn't her stepfather. It's Jock Mahoney.
Might help explain why Sally seems to have gone over the edge the last few years.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | September 11, 2018 8:49 PM |
Jock Mahoney is the NEW Lex Barker!
by Anonymous | reply 6 | September 11, 2018 8:51 PM |
Her step father liked her. He really really liked her.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | September 11, 2018 8:58 PM |
The list of famous actresses who were NOT molested by a stepfather, cousin, uncle, brother or teacher is probably a very short one indeed.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | September 11, 2018 9:02 PM |
Why didn't she just fly away?
by Anonymous | reply 9 | September 11, 2018 9:04 PM |
I'm glad she was able to live a full and rich life. Nowadays sex abuse victims are encouraged to wallow in self pity forever. I am not saying we should ignore or dismiss their pain like society used to but I think now victims are actually discouraged from healing . Neither extreme is healthy .
by Anonymous | reply 10 | September 11, 2018 9:04 PM |
So Jock was a hunk who played Tarzan and molested his step daughter, same as Lex Barker played Tarzan and molested his stepdaughter whose mother was Lana Turner.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | September 11, 2018 9:33 PM |
R10, now a days there is treatment available for victims of sexual abuse. Even in the 70s and into the 80s it was shameful to as much as see a shrink (except perhaps for Californians.)
Same with war veterans, they suffered in silence or took it out on others.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | September 11, 2018 9:37 PM |
Hate to tell you this, r11, but Buster borrowed my fondue set. When he returned it there were two forks missing and the others were all bent out of shape.

[quote] Who would want to hurt someone like sweet Sally???
I would. Do you have any idea the harm she's done to countless unsuspecting older people by shilling Boniva? That shit is one of the absolute lowest rated drugs on the market and is literally crippling people. This bitch has blood on her hands. Shameful!
by Anonymous | reply 14 | September 11, 2018 9:58 PM |
It's not Sally's fault. If someone has an issue with it it's their doctor's fault. Get over that crazy fucking nonsense.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | September 11, 2018 10:46 PM |
I was molested first.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | September 11, 2018 11:04 PM |
Is it cruel of me to mention that as I scrolled past this thread, upon a quick glance of the photo, I thought it was Brett Somers on the set of Match Game '77?
by Anonymous | reply 17 | September 11, 2018 11:04 PM |
R8 Bella Thorne too. Shes still talentless though (Thorne that is )
by Anonymous | reply 18 | September 11, 2018 11:14 PM |
R11 that's so weird that they both played Tarzan. How famous was this guy? I have never heard of him.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | September 11, 2018 11:16 PM |
She dated Monkee Davy Jones.

I heard that Troy McClure abused his privilege.

Gets a little bit better, don't it, honey?

Sally needs a new hairstyle - her hands are nice though !!
by Anonymous | reply 25 | September 12, 2018 12:27 AM |
She looks like the Mandy Moore character on "This Is Us" in the present-day scenes.

R11:
Buster had crabbes.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | September 12, 2018 12:32 AM |
She used to be so cute. I guess I'm confusing her with the Flying Nun. The real Sally was in a sad codependent relationship with Burt Reynolds and probably everyone else. But she is a great gay mom !!!!
by Anonymous | reply 28 | September 12, 2018 12:33 AM |
God - after I wrote r28 I looked at her pic and felt so guilty !!
by Anonymous | reply 30 | September 12, 2018 12:35 AM |
Don't feel guilty, R28/30. She got to look like a teenager well into her sixties.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | September 12, 2018 12:51 AM |
I really, really do like her. This is very sad to me to learn. I don't think I've ever read a bad word about her.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | September 12, 2018 12:51 AM |
I’m seeing her in a couple of weeks on her book tour. I’ve loved her work since the 70s, she’s one of a kind.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | September 12, 2018 12:52 AM |
R19, Mahoney was mostly known for TV Westerns, I think. Lex Barker was a bigger name, but not A list, the way his one-time wife Lana Turner was. He was married earlier to Arlene Dahl, who says she doesn't believe the claims by Lana's daughter Cheryl Crane that Lex raped a pre-teen Cheryl, since Lex had such a big "package" sex with him would have killed a young girl. Arlene was also married to Fernando Lamas (their kid was Lorenzo), who had an affair with Lana when they were making a movie. So everyone was screwing everyone.

Signing on to pimp a poisonous drug in exchange for blood money isn't her fault? Nice logic.

R35, is it possible that when she signed for the ads, the med was still thought to be safe?
by Anonymous | reply 37 | September 12, 2018 2:04 AM |
I will say this, she looks FANTASTIC in person. I saw her after that awful Glass Menagerie revival and she looks a good 20 years younger than she is.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | September 12, 2018 2:09 AM |
R35 has things a bit mixed up. Her reality therapy is going well, though.

Like Meryl, she's had a world class plastic surgeon who refreshed without reinventing. She's willing to have some wrinkles to still look like herself, and she's extremely wise to do so.

That's what all of them should do. A few wrinkles won't kill them.

What female hasn’t been at some point in her life...?
by Anonymous | reply 44 | September 12, 2018 1:45 PM |
What is the point of airing dirty laundry like this? It’s so unseemly.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | September 12, 2018 2:32 PM |
That may explain why she was fucking her "son" while they were shooting Brothers & Sisters.
That always seemed odd to me.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | September 12, 2018 2:59 PM |
I read she thinks subconsciously she was trying to work out her relationship with the stepfather in her relationship with Burt. She just didn't realize it at the time. Apparently, Burt really hurt her, I am assuming with his infidelity and refusal to attend the Oscars when she was nominated. It was even talked about at the time and in papers that Burt was so jealous of her nomination he just couldn't be there to see her win. I am sure when she won he made her pay for it dearly. Both emotionally and physically. Judy Carne claimed he beat her during their marriage.

Here's a little montage of Jock Mahoney. I remember when he was [italic]The Range Rider[/italic] on early 1950s TV. He could have molested me any time he wanted to.

Sally turned that frown upside down and won America's heart! She shows what a little gumption can do!

Dirty laundry is one thing, R45.
Dirty laundry with your step-daddy's dried cum and your blood in it is another thing altogether.

She experienced boundary issues with all her daddies.

by Anonymous | reply 58 | September 13, 2018 3:19 PM |
I think Burt was deeply closeted and didn't want to be attracted to men. I think he tried with women but raged against them when he just wasn't sexually attracted to them like he was to men. I think his being all macho with them was him overcompensating. Same with Lee Majors and Farah. When she was in CAs he would talk in interviews about how she had to be home in time to cook him dinner. And in interviews at the time she agreed. So in that respect, he was mentally ill.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | September 13, 2018 4:46 PM |
I think Sally and Burt had broken up by the time of her first Oscar. Comedian David Steinberg is her date.
If they were still together I can see why Burt wouldn't go since Norma Rae was the same year as Starting Over which got nominations for Jill Clayburgh and Candice Bergen but none for Reynolds.
I wonder if he went to the Golden Globes (which he was nominated for too along with Sally, Jill and Candace.)
by Anonymous | reply 60 | September 14, 2018 9:30 PM |
Burt "discovering" Robert Urich always seemed....well interesting.
by Anonymous | reply 61 | September 14, 2018 9:31 PM |
In my college Journalism class (around 2003) we were studying how to write broadcast sound bites from wire service news. I got a story about how Burt was being sued by a girlfriend for abuse and stuff. I remember the teacher saying I should emphasize that the woman accused Burt of stepping on her toes a lot to hurt her. The teacher just thought the stepping on toes stuff was so odd.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | September 14, 2018 9:33 PM |
No, they were together during Norma Rae. It was much talked about at the time and people watched to see if he would relent and go with her to the Oscars. He didnt.

This bitch was striking a very different tone just two weeks ago:
“There are times in your life that are so indelible, they never fade away. They stay alive, even forty years later. My years with Burt never leave my mind. He will be in my history and my heart, for as long as I live. Rest, Buddy.”
by Anonymous | reply 73 | September 19, 2018 12:53 AM |
Burt told NPR that the problem between him and Field was that he loved her and she never loved him.
Take that for whatever it may be worth.
