My eyes will never forgive you, OP.

by Anonymousreply 1September 6, 2018 1:07 AM

He looks like a POW.

by Anonymousreply 2September 6, 2018 1:15 AM

Novak is going to let Millman punch himself out.

by Anonymousreply 3September 6, 2018 1:17 AM

You beat me to it OP. Here is the pic I was going to use ...

A wuh, wuh, wuh man? I can't even bring myself to write the word, R4.

by Anonymousreply 5September 6, 2018 1:21 AM

Well, after all OP, you posted a martian....

by Anonymousreply 6September 6, 2018 1:23 AM

I could have posted a hobbit:

In my heart I want Millman team, but Djokovic has a better chance of beating Nadal.

by Anonymousreply 8September 6, 2018 1:29 AM

I want Millman tonight, Nadal for the trophy.

by Anonymousreply 9September 6, 2018 1:31 AM

What I wouldn't give for a Nishikori-Delpo final...

by Anonymousreply 10September 6, 2018 1:33 AM

Well yes, of course the would be a beautiful thing r10, I'd totally love that

by Anonymousreply 11September 6, 2018 1:35 AM

wow, Millman is full of piss and vinegar! Love this guy

by Anonymousreply 12September 6, 2018 1:48 AM

omg thank you OP! So DL does love me after all!

As I promised, i give you my heart!

the other night the crowd cheered for Roger against this guy? Why when he plays me, they now cheer for him?

by Anonymousreply 14September 6, 2018 1:54 AM

Something about Djokovic is just sooo unlikable.

by Anonymousreply 15September 6, 2018 1:59 AM

Very diplomatic to keep that singular, R15.

by Anonymousreply 16September 6, 2018 2:01 AM

Nice, slim body and very revealing bathing suit.

by Anonymousreply 17September 6, 2018 2:04 AM

I kind of like Djokovic when he gets angry and testy. Who the fuck cares whether the audience likes you or not, go get the job done and that shuts them up.

by Anonymousreply 18September 6, 2018 2:06 AM

there is nothing to reveal.

by Anonymousreply 19September 6, 2018 2:06 AM

Martina Navratilova went through that for years when she dominated the WTA. No one cheered for her. She just went about her business and got the job done, but much like Djokovic, she really craved the crowd to cheer for her. I remember once she told the crowd something like, "Yes, please clap for me!"

I've always liked Navratilova. I've always cheered for her against Evert or Austin, she was the tennis of the future when these country club bitches were still playing moonballs from the baseline. I always felt that, for such a great player, arguably one of the best in history and one who really revolutionized women's tennis by bringing athleticism and power ply into it, she never got the respect she deserved.

by Anonymousreply 22September 6, 2018 2:22 AM

^^play

by Anonymousreply 23September 6, 2018 2:23 AM

Martina's issue she was up against America's Sweetheart as well as being an immigrant and later an open lesbian.

by Anonymousreply 24September 6, 2018 2:25 AM

The whole lez thing wasn't a help in those days

by Anonymousreply 25September 6, 2018 2:25 AM

R24 An open lesbian for what?

by Anonymousreply 26September 6, 2018 2:25 AM

Well, R22, she did eventually get the love of the crowd when she was older. I remember the 1994 Wimbledon final, the crowd was cheering for her, but Conchita Martinez won. Then when she came back to the tour to play exclusively doubles, people cheered hard for her. She had earned her legend status and was treated with love from the fans. She just wished she could have had that when she was dominating the tour.

by Anonymousreply 27September 6, 2018 2:27 AM

Martina always came across as rather arrogant and cocky.

by Anonymousreply 28September 6, 2018 2:29 AM
"Yes, please clap for me!"

I have a vague memory of her saying something like "I hope one day you can like me" at Wimbledon.

by Anonymousreply 29September 6, 2018 2:30 AM

This is my first time seeing Millman. I like the slutty shorts, which used to be the norm. Well, the shortness was the norm, but maybe not quite that tight on the thigh and ass. Thank's Millman.

by Anonymousreply 30September 6, 2018 2:31 AM

Rampant lesbianism!

by Anonymousreply 31September 6, 2018 2:34 AM

by Anonymousreply 33September 6, 2018 2:35 AM

Serena and Venus never got a ton of crowd support until the second half of their careers. When they were dominating in the early 2000s, many saw them as superhuman powerful and fast amazons who were unfairly beating "real women" on the tour. It was only about the last decade or so that things changed and now they are fan favorite legends.

Davenport never got much love either because her game while smooth was unathletic and she never gave much energy to the crowd.

by Anonymousreply 34September 6, 2018 2:36 AM

Djokovic has never been attractive to me. To narrow of a head and too thin. Not that he's ugly. I imagine a lot of DLers think he's perfect.

by Anonymousreply 35September 6, 2018 2:37 AM

They have a lingering shirtless player shot for once, and it it's concentration camp victim Novak?

by Anonymousreply 36September 6, 2018 2:38 AM

by Anonymousreply 38September 6, 2018 2:38 AM

Serena in particular was not all that well liked from 2001-7 or so.

by Anonymousreply 39September 6, 2018 2:41 AM

Really, if Djokovic gained 20 lbs of muscle he could be hot. He's just so emaciated it's disgusting

He has new crow's feet though. He used to good skin.

by Anonymousreply 40September 6, 2018 2:42 AM

by Anonymousreply 45September 6, 2018 2:51 AM

Millman looks like the actor Jackie Earle Haley.

by Anonymousreply 46September 6, 2018 2:59 AM

I wouldn't even say that Djokovic is playing all that great tonight, 40+ unforced errors, low conversion rate on BPs (for his standards), and it's still enough to keep this match under full control. I guess Millman is back to his 55-ranked level of play.

by Anonymousreply 47September 6, 2018 3:33 AM

Novak isn't doing so bad in this heat....much better than Roger who crumbled like a cookie. Maybe Roger tanked deliberately.

by Anonymousreply 48September 6, 2018 3:33 AM

Lindsay slimmed down quite a bit toward the latter part of her career. She was never a great mover, but it helped.

by Anonymousreply 49September 6, 2018 3:34 AM

R48, I'm not Federer's biggest fan, but I can't imagine he would ever tank a match. He's 37; he's just not consistent any more.

Millman is showing a lot of fight.

by Anonymousreply 50September 6, 2018 3:36 AM
Maybe Roger tanked deliberately.

I read an article somewhere suggesting that, perhaps, Roger's plan to reduce his schedule may not have a positive effect in the long run. Even if he were not a dominant factor on clay courts, there would be more continuity and matches under his belt. In the end, he faltered at the two places for which all that supposed energy conservation was for: Wimbledon and the US Open.

by Anonymousreply 51September 6, 2018 3:38 AM

No, Roger didn't look like he was even trying...that's why there were so many people thought it was match fixing or something...

by Anonymousreply 52September 6, 2018 3:43 AM

Millman and Luetjen work together quite palatably.

by Anonymousreply 53September 6, 2018 3:46 AM

Roger is 37 and the heat ate away at him.

by Anonymousreply 54September 6, 2018 3:47 AM
Roger is 37 and the heat ate away at him.

Ate.

by Anonymousreply 55September 6, 2018 3:48 AM

I think Roger was having an off night. The heat and him not getting the start time he wanted probably didn't help. I can remember Chrissie talking about as she got older, it was harder to maintain her intensity level over several rounds, and was more prone to having days where nothing was really working.

by Anonymousreply 56September 6, 2018 3:48 AM

More like so many delusional people, R52. The idea that Roger Federer, of all players, would be involved in match fixing is void of both logic and evidence.

by Anonymousreply 57September 6, 2018 3:49 AM

Federer hasn't won the USO since 2008. He wants to win this again before he retires. No way would he tank

by Anonymousreply 58September 6, 2018 3:52 AM

Good regroup from Djokovic after letting the time violation calls get to him. Let's see if he can serve it out.

by Anonymousreply 59September 6, 2018 3:53 AM

Match fixing is a very serious offence as far as ITF is concerned. No way Federer would risk tarnishing his legacy by doing that.

by Anonymousreply 60September 6, 2018 3:54 AM

Damn, I was hoping the Aussie would win. Novak is too good.

by Anonymousreply 61September 6, 2018 3:57 AM

Now, i'm rooting for Rafa.

by Anonymousreply 62September 6, 2018 3:58 AM

The crowd is running for the exits before Nole can talk about being their sweetheart.

by Anonymousreply 63September 6, 2018 3:59 AM

In the International Tennis Federation, matching fixing offenses are considered especially heinous. In New York City, the dedicated detectives who investigate these vicious felonies are members of an elite squad known as the Tomic Fixing Unit.

by Anonymousreply 64September 6, 2018 4:01 AM

People did not like Monica Seles either for the grunting and unorthodox game — until she was stabbed and came back and everyone loved her. A shame really.

by Anonymousreply 65September 6, 2018 4:17 AM

Actually correction - they liked her when she was 15/16 as the challenger. They didn’t like her when she was dominant

by Anonymousreply 66September 6, 2018 4:18 AM

This is really a distraction. We should be focusing on the good things dems are doing, doing pieces on up and coming dems. instead, just more BS about this cunt. i'm so sick of this. They love the chaos. The media loves it. They are getting more clicks on their pages. They are making money, they love Trump.

by Anonymousreply 67September 6, 2018 4:26 AM

Even after Monica came back people attacked her. Anyone remember people calling her "hag with a frying pan?"

by Anonymousreply 68September 6, 2018 5:03 AM

And then she was hag with a knife in her back.

by Anonymousreply 69September 6, 2018 5:17 AM

R67 is as lost as Roger was on court a couple nights ago.

by Anonymousreply 70September 6, 2018 5:33 AM

The industry people, including media were totally cunty to her. Like any of them ever knew what it was like to go through that. This was before 9/11, and before the MCI every 12hrs we have now. And it happened on the court, FFS.

by Anonymousreply 71September 6, 2018 5:47 AM

Both women's semis at night? WTF?

by Anonymousreply 72September 6, 2018 10:45 AM

Dear God, Joker looks manorexic 🤢

by Anonymousreply 73September 6, 2018 11:31 AM

Idk but I always like Nole. He seems ok to me. I think he comes across as arrogant coz maybe he have a big dick? hehehe.

by Anonymousreply 74September 6, 2018 12:12 PM

R72, ESPN wants ratings. How many times do we have to make this point? More people watch at night.

by Anonymousreply 75September 6, 2018 1:15 PM

What was the big Schiavone news? Did she finally capture Dorothy and her little dog too?

by Anonymousreply 76September 6, 2018 1:43 PM

Wow Novak has a really long neck. Team Rafa or Delpo for the win.

by Anonymousreply 77September 6, 2018 1:54 PM

Evert went through crowd hatred after she and Connors were sweetheart Wimbledon champs and didn't get back public support until she lost the 79 USO final to Austin. She got a standing o as runner up because she always accepted defeat as graciously as she did victory. Navratilova was an obnoxious winner/loser for most of her career, even as she was the most entertaining and daring player ever. Crowds are fickle.

by Anonymousreply 78September 6, 2018 1:58 PM

Tomic Fixing Unit???

by Anonymousreply 79September 6, 2018 2:06 PM

by Anonymousreply 83September 6, 2018 5:51 PM

Nole.

by Anonymousreply 84September 6, 2018 6:26 PM

R49: LIndsay became a threat for top players when she lost some weight. She was not fast, but she was way faster than before and that made a big difference

R68: Seles was liked when she started, when she was the teen defying Stefii's throne. But once she did the job, everything that people liked in her (the unorthodox game, the grunting) suddenly became annoying. Not that it matters because she was very dominant during that period.

Federer simply had an off day. He is 37, he can't be the dominant player anymore, he just needs to rely to have two fantastics wins and win in all. In my opinion if he is healthy he will have chances but he won't be the favourite (and even less if the younger generation starts to rise the level, something that'll happen sooner or later). The heat made him more vulnerable, and Millman trust in his posibilities (something a lot of players are unable to do)

by Anonymousreply 85September 6, 2018 7:03 PM

Kubot/Melo into the final. In the penultime game Jaziri served on Albot's head. Literally

by Anonymousreply 86September 6, 2018 7:04 PM

I liked Djokovic's body so much better when he did the Vogue photo shoot in 2011.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 87September 6, 2018 7:05 PM

He looks more muscular and athletic there

by Anonymousreply 88September 6, 2018 7:09 PM

By the way there are a lot of articles here in Spain about how rude was the audience of CSN-Keys match, and say they were totally disrespectful to the players making noise (the fact that one crowd is compared negatively with the RG crowd here in Spain is a lot)

by Anonymousreply 89September 6, 2018 7:14 PM

SO much hotter, R87.

by Anonymousreply 90September 6, 2018 9:06 PM

Blake on welcoming the gays on ATP tour

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 91September 6, 2018 9:10 PM

R88 and r90, when Djokovic had that more muscular body in 2011, he won the Aussie Open, Wimbledon, and the U.S. Open, and he also made it to the semis at the French.

by Anonymousreply 92September 6, 2018 9:18 PM

^ and those THIGHS

by Anonymousreply 93September 6, 2018 9:21 PM

love James Blake. He's intelligent and good-looking. 1 of the hardest forehands on tour, probably only less powerful than Fernando Gonzalez'. It's a shame he couldn't have won any big titles but at least he cracked the top 10. Hopefully the younger male American generation of tennis players will be as intelligent and thoughtful as he is when it comes to respecting and caring about other people

by Anonymousreply 94September 6, 2018 11:17 PM

There's something about Sevastova. I love her personality.

by Anonymousreply 95September 6, 2018 11:24 PM

The Seles story is so tragic. She was on her way to being one of the best, having won seven of eight grand slams before the stabbing. And almost no mention of her from any commentator. Didn’t she win 3 us opens?

by Anonymousreply 96September 6, 2018 11:28 PM

Serena not moving well again. Sevestova could take this.

by Anonymousreply 97September 6, 2018 11:28 PM

Seles won the US Open twice and would've been the dominant women's player of the 90s if she hadn't been stabbed. She had Graf's number.

by Anonymousreply 98September 6, 2018 11:33 PM

Don’t want no short, short man...

by Anonymousreply 99September 6, 2018 11:33 PM

I agree, R96. And Seles was really the one who ushered in the modern power game off both sides. As her opponents used to say, there was no reprieve and no real weak side. The only way to get a break from her power was to make her run wide so she'd have to let go of her two-handed grips, but that was hard to do as she got the jump on the first ball. She was the first to really do first-strike tennis.

She was only getting better, too, when she got stabbed. She was never the same player mentally after the stabbing. She lost that laser focus. Her getting stabbed changed the course of tennis history.

by Anonymousreply 100September 6, 2018 11:35 PM

And emphasized what a cold, opportunistic, tunnel-visioned pragmatist Graf is.

by Anonymousreply 101September 6, 2018 11:39 PM

And she was probably the first woman to play more aggressive when she was down. Loved her...

by Anonymousreply 102September 6, 2018 11:40 PM

by Anonymousreply 106September 6, 2018 11:48 PM

by Anonymousreply 107September 6, 2018 11:49 PM

Fun fact: Monica Seles is 44, her husband is 76.

by Anonymousreply 108September 6, 2018 11:49 PM

More important fun fact: he's worth over $2 Billion.

by Anonymousreply 109September 6, 2018 11:51 PM

Monica has always had a daddy complex when it comes to men she was seeing.

by Anonymousreply 110September 6, 2018 11:52 PM

Cicak is the worst umpire I've ever seen. She was so wrong about that serve call on the first point of game 3 and has now handed Serena the lead. Sevastova should be ahead 4-2.

by Anonymousreply 111September 6, 2018 11:54 PM

Marija seems half asleep during matches. She also seems to have it out for Vika all the time too - messes up calls in her matches a lot.

by Anonymousreply 112September 6, 2018 11:58 PM
Monica's match against Capriati, 25+ years later, is still better than, well, pretty much any other women's tennis match since.

by Anonymousreply 113September 6, 2018 11:59 PM

*game 4

by Anonymousreply 114September 6, 2018 11:59 PM

Ugh. I know the party line is that Serena is the Greatest Player of All and also the Greatest Mother of All, but if she ends up winning the US Open in that kind of shape, it really makes women's tennis look like a complete fucking joke.

by Anonymousreply 115September 7, 2018 12:07 AM

Fuck she's gonna win.

by Anonymousreply 116September 7, 2018 12:20 AM

I’m sure someone said this when she wore it the other day, but that blue tutu getup is godawful.

by Anonymousreply 117September 7, 2018 12:21 AM

Sevestova has given up.

What a joke.

by Anonymousreply 118September 7, 2018 12:24 AM

Really want the winner of the next match to beat Serena but doubtful it will happen.

by Anonymousreply 119September 7, 2018 12:28 AM

66 minutes. Pathetic.

by Anonymousreply 120September 7, 2018 12:28 AM

by Anonymousreply 121September 7, 2018 12:29 AM

HISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!

by Anonymousreply 122September 7, 2018 12:33 AM

by Anonymousreply 123September 7, 2018 12:36 AM

R122 is the hissing eldergay.

by Anonymousreply 124September 7, 2018 12:37 AM

Somebody drug test her.

by Anonymousreply 125September 7, 2018 12:39 AM

I'm telling you that call to start game 4 of the first set changed everything. Sevastova would've maintained the lead if not for that call. Someone should check Cicak's finances and those of people close to her. Methinks she is on Richard's payroll.

When was the last time Eva Asderaki officiated one of Serena's matches? I can't remember. Did Serena get her blacklisted. If so, that's absolute bullshit. She's one of the better umps on tour.

by Anonymousreply 126September 7, 2018 12:45 AM

Yes R126, one point completely explains how Sevastova failed to win 1 of the final 13 games. If you're so weak-minded that you let 1 point decide the entire match, maybe you should hang up your racket.

by Anonymousreply 127September 7, 2018 12:47 AM

Ooops, *only won 1 of the final 13 games*

R127

by Anonymousreply 128September 7, 2018 12:48 AM

Marija screwed up an identical call in Azarenka's 2nd or 3rd round match. Vika hit an ace that Marija overruled. When Vika questioned it, Marija pointed to the court and said, "I can see the mark from here." Vika challenged anyway...THE BALL WAS COMPLETELY THROUGH THE LINE. Cicak is terrible. She should be working nothing higher than Tier 3 tournaments.

by Anonymousreply 129September 7, 2018 12:50 AM

Everyone knows that Sevastova is a mess mentally. That's why it was so important to maintain the lead. She would've fought much harder from ahead.

Come on, how many times have we seen WTA players lose a close set and completely go away? It's probably a 1/3 of the matches overall. Sad!

by Anonymousreply 134September 7, 2018 1:27 AM

Sweet God, this match is boring as hell.

by Anonymousreply 135September 7, 2018 1:28 AM

I'm liking Osaka's chances if she gets to the final (and she should.)

by Anonymousreply 136September 7, 2018 1:30 AM

If Keys wants to get adjacent to Venus she’ll have to go via Osaka.

by Anonymousreply 137September 7, 2018 1:45 AM

Sloane would have been a much more entertaining and tougher matchup for Serena. It's a shame she was sick on Tuesday and low energy. Serena was smart tonight by coming in a lot and keeping the points short. No need to mess around with Sevastova's crafty long points.

Keys started off well tonight but has gone flat and Osaka has cruised after the first few games

by Anonymousreply 138September 7, 2018 1:46 AM

Sascha Baijin is still hot. I bet Patrick Mouratoglou was jealous. He is rumored to have been the reason why Serena's not working with Sascha anymore. He's done wonders with Naomi this year.

Naomi's trainer or hitting partner is hot too. They haven't named him yet though

by Anonymousreply 139September 7, 2018 1:50 AM
Sascha Bajin is having some of the best years of his career as a hitting partner-turned-coach. In October 2017, he was a part of Caroline Wozniacki's team when the Danish won the WTA Finals in Singapore.

The Danish?

by Anonymousreply 140September 7, 2018 1:54 AM

he did say Sascha was living next door to Serena when he was with her.

by Anonymousreply 144September 7, 2018 2:03 AM

R142, that article is referring to the Woz as a Danish. I'm not questioning Sascha's nationality. I'm questioning this:

by Anonymousreply 149September 7, 2018 2:06 AM

What the hell is that on Madison's shoulder? Is it cancer? I think it's cancer.

by Anonymousreply 150September 7, 2018 2:09 AM

Who is the hot bearded guy next to Osaka's mother in the stands?

by Anonymousreply 151September 7, 2018 2:09 AM
I'll have the cherry Danish, please.

I love cherry Danish! Pop! But I also like apple tarts.

by Anonymousreply 152September 7, 2018 2:09 AM

R150 it's called a keloid.

by Anonymousreply 153September 7, 2018 2:12 AM

r125 not going to happen. If it does, they will suppress it, as they do with Olympic athletes.

by Anonymousreply 154September 7, 2018 2:15 AM

So is a keloid the bad kind of cancer, r153? Because I definitely want Madison to get a Slam before she dies.

by Anonymousreply 155September 7, 2018 2:22 AM

Keys had countless chances throughout the match to break but was too flat. Osaka had more shape on the ball and accepted Keys' donations.

So Serena and Osaka go from meeting in the first round of Miami to the USO final. Not much more of a difference than that.

Now the media will focus on Sascha

by Anonymousreply 156September 7, 2018 2:24 AM

So Naomi could potentially be the first Japanese and the first Retard to win a Slam.

by Anonymousreply 157September 7, 2018 2:26 AM

lmao Osaka shading Keys. "The whole time I was thinking I just really want to play Serena" that was her answer to how she saved all 13 break points

but then Osaka said Keys is a really great player and this was of course the first time she beat her

by Anonymousreply 158September 7, 2018 2:27 AM

wow Naomi is a Serena super fan! "I love you"

by Anonymousreply 159September 7, 2018 2:28 AM

Two earth-lesbian womyn in the background during Osaka's interview.

by Anonymousreply 160September 7, 2018 2:31 AM

In all seriousness, I hope that the final is a good one. Osaka SHOULD be able to give her a match, unless that goo-goo shit was for real and she goes to pieces against her idol.

by Anonymousreply 161September 7, 2018 2:31 AM

Osaka is just a silly little girl, but she's acting like she's 12 rather than 20. Bet during her match with Serena, she will be thinking she wants the 3 million plus pay check!

by Anonymousreply 162September 7, 2018 2:33 AM

0/13 on break points.

by Anonymousreply 163September 7, 2018 2:38 AM

Serena will kill her

by Anonymousreply 164September 7, 2018 2:42 AM

R159 Save that shit until AFTER you drub her in the final, dear! When has anyone ever said something like that about a grand slam final opponent? Ridiculous. She better not hand her the match like her sister would.

by Anonymousreply 165September 7, 2018 2:42 AM

win or lose the final, this USO is confirmation that Osaka is the real deal. She didn't just win Indian Wells and then disappear for the rest of the year. Everyone was wondering who would get through the "power section" of Osaka/Sabalenka/Keys and Naomi successfully navigated her way to the final.

The fall swing will be crucial to who gets the last few spots for the YEC tournament. There are a lot of players who could qualify right now. Only Halep is officially locked in and I'd say the last 3-4 spots are available to probably 10 different players.

by Anonymousreply 166September 7, 2018 2:44 AM

I'd rather Osaka say that she wants to play Serena rather than act afraid to play her. Naomi seems pretty confident in her game right now.

by Anonymousreply 167September 7, 2018 2:54 AM

Random thoughts: 1) Sascha B has a nice thick uncut cock; 2) love Sascha’s skin color; 3) it would be interesting to see if Kei and Naomi become an item; 4) hose photoshop pics of the players can be hilarious— they just had one of Kei and it looked like his teeth were actually normal 5) is the black guy next to Naomi’s mom, Naomi’s dad? 6) Naomi’s backhand reminds me of Andrea Jaegers

by Anonymousreply 168September 7, 2018 3:00 AM
2) love Sascha’s skin color

What's his skin color? White?

by Anonymousreply 169September 7, 2018 3:05 AM

And how exactly do you know number 1, r168? I mean the uncut part seems obvious, but the niceness and thickness definitely need some verificatia.

by Anonymousreply 170September 7, 2018 3:05 AM

Serena had a baby?

by Anonymousreply 171September 7, 2018 3:07 AM

I like Osaka's way with the press, reminds me very much of Seles way back: smart cookie with giggly airhead Valley Girl shtick and sly humor.

by Anonymousreply 172September 7, 2018 3:07 AM

Don't you know, R171?? She's the first woman EVER to have had a baby!!

Keys will never be more than a footnote on the story of this era of women’s tennis. I wish Lindsay Davenport hitched her wagon to a more formidable up-and-comer, because I adore Davenport and Keys is a loser with a face only a donkey’s mother could love.

by Anonymousreply 179September 7, 2018 3:29 AM

Osaka: Friends? What friends? I have no friends.

by Anonymousreply 180September 7, 2018 3:35 AM

It's a shame about Keys. She has all the tools, and seems likable, but never seems to be able to pull it all together when it counts. Tonight's match was very winnable.

by Anonymousreply 181September 7, 2018 3:38 AM

Keys beat Osaka the first three times they plaeyd, but Osaka just seems to be a better version of Keys.

by Anonymousreply 182September 7, 2018 3:42 AM

I can’t wait to see Naomi destroyed by Serena

by Anonymousreply 187September 7, 2018 6:58 AM

Osaka is gonna be too nervous. it's her first grand slam final and it's Serena. She won't be able to recover and win the match by the time the nerves subside.

by Anonymousreply 188September 7, 2018 7:23 AM

Kei has a gf. Osaka is not his type. He was dating a Japanese gymnast.

by Anonymousreply 189September 7, 2018 7:25 AM

Serena is Naomi’s mother, I’ve heard.

by Anonymousreply 190September 7, 2018 7:45 AM

Gawd OP he's ugly in and out. Ill watch tennis after he's gone and we get get more Thiems and Stans. I suppose a Jim Courier is too much to hope for.

by Anonymousreply 191September 7, 2018 8:03 AM

So what are our predictions, girls?

I think DelPo has a fair shot against Rafa. The cool weather should help him. I'd love to see Kei pull the upset over Nole, but I'm afraid to get my hopes up. Kei would have to take his level up a notch. He's capable of it, but it doesn't happen very often.

by Anonymousreply 192September 7, 2018 11:22 AM

Interesting take by Becker. Seems plausible since we know the younger generation is the product of over management and hovering coaches and parents.

by Anonymousreply 193September 7, 2018 12:26 PM

Sascha used to describe himself as Serena’s best friend. There’s got to be more to their break up story!

by Anonymousreply 194September 7, 2018 12:43 PM

R193 it’s indicative of Millenials or the generation after in General. Will take a special freak of nature to break the mold. I still think Tsitsipas has a chance to be the first to breakthrough of the next Gen.

by Anonymousreply 195September 7, 2018 1:39 PM

Delpo will win in 4. Djokovic will win in straight sets. Delpo the 2018 USO champion.

by Anonymousreply 196September 7, 2018 1:40 PM

That's a really interesting article, r178. The best-of-five-sets format (cited by Navratilova and others) might be a factor, as might be the lack of problem-solving skills (cited by Becker). But then the question becomes, why does the new generation of players like Zverev, Tsitsipas, etc. have problems with five sets when previous generation didn't, and why don't they have the problem-solving skills that previous generations had?

by Anonymousreply 197September 7, 2018 1:54 PM

by Anonymousreply 205September 7, 2018 4:45 PM

Do you think Matt Damon should help those suffering from cancer, or should his efforts be limited to clean water and the occasional behind-the-scenes support during tragic events?

by Anonymousreply 206September 7, 2018 4:47 PM

Serena had a baby, and they don't celebrate its birthday on account of the whole Jehova thing.

by Anonymousreply 207September 7, 2018 5:01 PM

I doubt that bankrupt cokehead Becker is the best arbiter of NextGen remedies.

by Anonymousreply 208September 7, 2018 5:15 PM

but why go after #NextGen and not bash the #LostGen? #NextGen has not peaked yet physically or mentally. Am I disappointed they haven't gotten a slam yet? Yes but It's Dimitrov, Raonic, Nishikori, Goffin and Thiem who deserve all the criticism. They should be at their peaks now but struggle to defeat the big 3/4/5.

BTW for the poster above who mentioned millennials...Nadal, Djokovic, Murray, Wawrinka are all millennials. Only Federer is generation x.

by Anonymousreply 209September 7, 2018 5:37 PM

Federer was born in 1981 he's an early Millennial.

by Anonymousreply 210September 7, 2018 5:41 PM

“NextGen” and “NextGen”! What is “NextGen”?

by Anonymousreply 211September 7, 2018 5:52 PM

R209, I'm not sure I'd put Goffin in that group because I never felt he had the weapons to win a slam. As for Dimitrov, Raonic, Nishikori, and Thiem, well....

by Anonymousreply 212September 7, 2018 5:54 PM

Raonic is, and I say that as a fellow Canadian, not in the same category as Thiem, Nishikori, or even Dimitrov. Take away his serve and there's very little to him.

by Anonymousreply 213September 7, 2018 5:57 PM

I think Naomi will give Serena a good match but its all in the latter's hand. Really amazing she's in her 2 GS finals after just having a BABY! hehehe.

And Nole of course will take the men's barring...idk.

by Anonymousreply 214September 7, 2018 6:00 PM

r208 He is one of the greatest tennis players of all time, was a big personality, and has been a very active tennis commentator and impresario, business man, (bankruptcies happen to lots of successful businessmen), star in Germany, tennis personality, and successful coach with the World Number One Novak Djokovic, (taken when he was in his prime and Number One already, when you can just lose as a new coach) and father of three, he knows what he's talking about and players listen to him, he has also been an influence to many of them. He ruined his health playing, partially because of his courageous, offensive and aggressive playing, but he sure knows what he's talking about, has been very successful and people listen to him.

by Anonymousreply 215September 7, 2018 6:28 PM

R16: Serena is Muguruza's idol too and she had no problem defeating her everytime she had an opportunity. Nothing better to show respect to your idol than kicking her ass

by Anonymousreply 216September 7, 2018 6:51 PM

Thanks, Boris at R215.

by Anonymousreply 217September 7, 2018 6:56 PM

Mugurutha

by Anonymousreply 218September 7, 2018 6:58 PM

R197: That's not exactly an accurate question. First of all, most next gen players have an age that Novak and Roger didn't won a GS. Nadal is a different case because he was very dominant on clay from the begginning but he took quite some time on reach the final rounds of the other GS. And we are talking about three of the best of all time.

Right now Zverev is the only next gen player who is a top player. And yes, he has a problem, because he is not reaching (not remotely) the rounds he should be. And he is a top contender in every other tournamnent.

People older than Zverev, like the russians, in my opinion have the potential to be top players but i doubt they'll be dominant players. Chung had a very tough year with injuries.

The younger ones are a mystery, they are showing promise (Nadal seems to think that Shapo has a brilliant future ahead him) but they need time.

We can say that people like Dimitrov won't reach his true potential, but i think Thiem will win GS, he is more a late bloomer.

by Anonymousreply 219September 7, 2018 7:07 PM

Please, please, please anyone but Djokovic.. I can't take another tits out!

by Anonymousreply 220September 7, 2018 7:13 PM

Del Potro has had 2 full days to rest and it'll be much cooler so he really has no excuse not to at least give Nadal a tough match.

by Anonymousreply 221September 7, 2018 7:16 PM

R219, do you think Djokovic used to be a clay court specialist?

by Anonymousreply 222September 7, 2018 7:18 PM

I take your point, r219, but Djokovic had already at least made it to a quarterfinal and two semis of a GS when he was 20, and Federer had made it to two quarterfinals of a GS when he was 19. But, as you say, Djokovic, Federer, and Nadal are among the all-time greats so it's unfair to compare them to any new generation. Still, I think it's quite notable that players like Zverev , Tsitsipas, etc. can't seem to break through on the big stage.

by Anonymousreply 223September 7, 2018 7:29 PM

R222: No, even he was the only player able to dominate Nadal on the clay season (even failing at Roland Garros) he is not (and not was) better on clay than he was on hard courts. For a lot of players early clay results are better than in other surfaces because the big servers are way more vulnerable on clay

R223: You are right, it's unfair compare young players with easily the best generation in tennis ever (even Murray and Wawrinka have more GS than the dominant players of other eras). And it's true that young players seem unable to translate the great results they have on atp tournaments (even the bigger ones) into GS success (or at least reaching the last rounds). But i think only Zverev could be held responsible for that. He is a top player and definitevely he should be doing better. And it can become a burden if he doesn't solve it in a near future (that interview he gave makes me think he needs to find a balance between his tennis career and his live or this won't be solved soon). The others are simply too young or starting to make themselves a name.

Sometimes having an amazing result at a GS could be even negative if it puts too much pressure on someone who is not ready

by Anonymousreply 224September 7, 2018 7:58 PM

Vamos Juan Martin!

by Anonymousreply 225September 7, 2018 8:14 PM

by Anonymousreply 228September 7, 2018 8:18 PM

Let's go Delpo and Nishikori. Love an underdog!!!

by Anonymousreply 229September 7, 2018 8:32 PM

Well, what do you expect, r227, now that Tursunov is no longer on the tour to help him?

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 230September 7, 2018 8:38 PM

Wow, Juan Martin lost his advantage really fast. In my opinion his chances will be a way higher if he is able to win the first set

by Anonymousreply 231September 7, 2018 8:45 PM

I think Stan is good example for some of these guys. I never thought he would win one major much less three. He really came into his own in late 20s. The same could for one of these “lost” generation.

by Anonymousreply 232September 7, 2018 8:54 PM

Oh god... the Little Butch Princess Nadal has already asked for the trainer. What could ever be wrong with her now (that a good rodgering wouldn’t fix)???

by Anonymousreply 233September 7, 2018 8:55 PM

Rafael Nadal is in dire need of attention right now.

by Anonymousreply 234September 7, 2018 9:03 PM

Stan is a terrific example, r232, because he didn't even reach his first GS quarterfinal until he was 25 years old. So you would never have expected that he'd turn into a multiple-GS winner.

by Anonymousreply 235September 7, 2018 9:03 PM

R235: And he was a choker, he had a tendency to underperform on the big matches. But suddenly he had a chance and he grabbed it

by Anonymousreply 236September 7, 2018 9:06 PM

And Delpo fails to close the set. I know Nadal is very good but most of his rivals choke constantly when they have to deliver

by Anonymousreply 237September 7, 2018 9:12 PM

Delpo tight. 2 set points gone. Nadal breaks back.

by Anonymousreply 238September 7, 2018 9:12 PM

fuck- nadal has luck

by Anonymousreply 239September 7, 2018 9:13 PM

Don't make fun of Rafa

by Anonymousreply 240September 7, 2018 9:13 PM

Typical. I agree with R237 that his rivals fail to deliver when chances are there. As big a serve as Delpo has, no excuse not to take the set. We'll see if he can even hold to get in a tiebreak.

by Anonymousreply 241September 7, 2018 9:14 PM

Is Rafa's fake girlfriend in attendance?

by Anonymousreply 242September 7, 2018 9:14 PM

Oh how I hate Nadal’s bullying tennis.

by Anonymousreply 243September 7, 2018 9:14 PM

R242, Xisha or Maria?

by Anonymousreply 244September 7, 2018 9:15 PM

Great, that's all that Delpo needed: an energized Rafa with growing confidence.

by Anonymousreply 245September 7, 2018 9:15 PM

Agreed with R238: Delpo has not been able to shake off the nervousness.

by Anonymousreply 246September 7, 2018 9:16 PM

How is he a bully? Explain?

by Anonymousreply 247September 7, 2018 9:19 PM

oh please, Boris is a basket case. He let his spainish mansion rot. owes so many people money and now his wife is divorcing him, meaning more money he's gotta pay out lol.

by Anonymousreply 248September 7, 2018 9:25 PM

The netcord is Spanish

by Anonymousreply 249September 7, 2018 9:26 PM

Delpo is only 1-4 in slam semifinals.

by Anonymousreply 250September 7, 2018 9:26 PM

Crowd on Delpo's side.

by Anonymousreply 251September 7, 2018 9:27 PM

yes, today is winter-like compared to past 10 days. It might even rain later!

by Anonymousreply 252September 7, 2018 9:27 PM

FUCK!

by Anonymousreply 253September 7, 2018 9:30 PM

DelPo team!

by Anonymousreply 254September 7, 2018 9:30 PM

I can't believe Delpo blew two breaks and still won the tiebreak. But I like it!

by Anonymousreply 255September 7, 2018 9:30 PM

The Gentle Giant takes the first set 7/6 (7/3)

by Anonymousreply 256September 7, 2018 9:30 PM

I honestly didn't think Delpo was going to regroup in time to pull off that 1st set tiebreaker.

by Anonymousreply 257September 7, 2018 9:31 PM

Delpo almost choked away the first set. I was ready to go to bed if he didn't win the first one.

by Anonymousreply 258September 7, 2018 9:32 PM

Nadal very defensive but still too many errors. He should be very glad the court is so slow.

by Anonymousreply 259September 7, 2018 9:33 PM

Now he needs to stay in the second set. Generally Rafa is able to gain an early lead and recover. I don't think Rafa will be able to win (after such tough previous matches) if he lost the second set

by Anonymousreply 260September 7, 2018 9:33 PM

R259 but then the stats say Nadal hit more winners and Delpo more errors. Idk

by Anonymousreply 261September 7, 2018 9:34 PM

Agree, R260, Delpo needs to stay focused and not let Nadal get out to an early 2nd set lead.

by Anonymousreply 262September 7, 2018 9:35 PM

Why did they turn off the serve clock?

by Anonymousreply 263September 7, 2018 9:36 PM

R263, because they want Serena to win. She has a baby you know.

by Anonymousreply 264September 7, 2018 9:39 PM

Neither played his best in that opening set. Del Potro blew 2 separate break leads. The 2 set points he botched could have sent him into a funk but fortunately he got it together at the end of the set and Nadal donated some points in the tiebreak.

BTW has anyone ever seen Nadal THROW a precious bottle like he did today after getting broken at 4-4? That was shocking to me

and lol at the changeover int he tiebreak Del Potro was walking by when Nadal was still lining up the bottles

by Anonymousreply 265September 7, 2018 9:40 PM

ESPN needs to show longer camera shots of those half-dozen young Argentinian hotties cheering for Delpo.

by Anonymousreply 266September 7, 2018 9:41 PM

if there's anyone I'd love to permanently ducktape his mouth shut, it's fucking Chris Fowler. He never shuts up and thinks he knows everything. WE DON'T CARE WHAT YOU THINK!

by Anonymousreply 267September 7, 2018 9:42 PM

That 108 mph forehand Del Potro hit in the middle of the first set was insane, even crazier that he still lost the point and Nadal was able to return that shot.

by Anonymousreply 268September 7, 2018 9:43 PM

I missed the bottle throw, r265, but Nadal does seem to be even more OCD than usual, and that's saying A LOT.

by Anonymousreply 269September 7, 2018 9:45 PM

Argh, two break chances missed! But Nadal played some good points to stave them off. Bastard.

by Anonymousreply 270September 7, 2018 9:46 PM

What’s the difference between an ace and an unreturnable winner?

by Anonymousreply 271September 7, 2018 9:47 PM

he threw it and then pointed for the ballkid to give it back to him.

by Anonymousreply 272September 7, 2018 9:47 PM

R271 ace imeans the opponent didn't even make contact with the return. Service winner is the opponent touched the ball but the serve still flew by him/her. So if you get a hit on it it's not a service winner.

by Anonymousreply 273September 7, 2018 9:48 PM

I can't stand delpo's cheer squad. stfu so we can watch with no delays.

by Anonymousreply 274September 7, 2018 9:49 PM

rafa is usually very nice to the ball kids. Murray is the grumpy one.

by Anonymousreply 275September 7, 2018 9:50 PM

o le ole oleo ole ole ole o le o le ole !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

by Anonymousreply 276September 7, 2018 9:50 PM

R273, but for a groundstroke rally, a winner is when the player couldn't even get a racket on the ball, right?

by Anonymousreply 277September 7, 2018 9:50 PM

omg, rafa is hurt!

by Anonymousreply 278September 7, 2018 9:51 PM

R277 yes

by Anonymousreply 279September 7, 2018 9:52 PM

rafa looks like a monkey

by Anonymousreply 280September 7, 2018 9:53 PM

so just to be clear, if you are returning serve and you hit in the net or out, that's an error. It's only a service winner if you touch the ball but it keeps going past you. An ace means you didn't even make contact with the ball

by Anonymousreply 281September 7, 2018 9:53 PM

omg, alec baldwin is a fucking idiot. He said the best thing for fans is you can be done 6-0, 6-0. 6-0 and come back to win the match?!

by Anonymousreply 282September 7, 2018 9:54 PM

👍🏽, r281.

BTW, did you know Serena has had a baby?

by Anonymousreply 283September 7, 2018 9:55 PM

And while we're on the subject, when they report the winners and unforced errors for a match, the winners don't include aces or service winners, right?

by Anonymousreply 284September 7, 2018 9:57 PM

You can just tell that something's off with Nadal today. Normally, I'd still give him an edge the longer the match goes, but I'm not so sure about this match, given the signs.

by Anonymousreply 285September 7, 2018 9:57 PM

So what’s an “unreturnable winner”?

by Anonymousreply 286September 7, 2018 9:57 PM

A lot of his balls are landing around the service line, which is very unusual.

by Anonymousreply 287September 7, 2018 9:58 PM

Diego looks good in yellow

by Anonymousreply 288September 7, 2018 9:58 PM

oh my, feel so bad for Rafa! He's in pain.

by Anonymousreply 289September 7, 2018 9:59 PM

serve box, damn the autocorrect.

by Anonymousreply 290September 7, 2018 10:00 PM

Damn, wouldn't you be pissed off if you spent thousands for this match and rafa retires due to injury?

by Anonymousreply 291September 7, 2018 10:00 PM

Delpo breaks, then he hits two shitty errors. Down 0-30.

by Anonymousreply 292September 7, 2018 10:00 PM

I've not heard the term "unreturnable winner," r286. By definition, I should think that all winners are unreturnable.

by Anonymousreply 293September 7, 2018 10:00 PM

what is rafa doing with his racket?

by Anonymousreply 294September 7, 2018 10:02 PM

maybe he didn't do his one of his OCD shit today...so he's not 100% focused.

Rafa is gonna lose. I'm so sad.

by Anonymousreply 295September 7, 2018 10:03 PM

Del Potro makes me moist.

by Anonymousreply 296September 7, 2018 10:03 PM

Nadal will retire if he loses this set.

by Anonymousreply 297September 7, 2018 10:04 PM

hahahah rafa loses so immediately he is in pain....

by Anonymousreply 298September 7, 2018 10:04 PM

I said this on an earlier thread, but I really like Delpo's blue shorts. They nicely show off the curves of his ass, which I had never noticed before.

by Anonymousreply 299September 7, 2018 10:05 PM

Diego?

by Anonymousreply 300September 7, 2018 10:05 PM

That epic match with Thiem fucked his knee up.

by Anonymousreply 301September 7, 2018 10:05 PM

Did Rafa just say he is going to withdraw after this set?

by Anonymousreply 302September 7, 2018 10:11 PM

yes

by Anonymousreply 303September 7, 2018 10:11 PM

yes. i heard it too.

by Anonymousreply 304September 7, 2018 10:12 PM

potro is too good for him tonight so he withdraws

by Anonymousreply 305September 7, 2018 10:12 PM

R293, “unreturnable winner” is, strictly speaking, nothing other than a tautology. Serves can be aces or winners (receiver makes no contact with the ball or nicks it as it goes past, respectively). Winners are, by definition, always “clean”, i.e. the opponent cannot make contact with the ball with their racquet. Errors, though, can be termed “unforced” or “forced”—“unforced” if the mistake comes off a relatively simple shot; forced, e.g., if the opponent’s shot is so good that anything other than an error would be seen as miraculous. These latter two are very often subjective calls—not everyone recording stats will necessarily have the same number of forced and unforced errors for the same match.

by Anonymousreply 306September 7, 2018 10:13 PM

Nadal is "extremely injured." (i.e., he's losing).

by Anonymousreply 307September 7, 2018 10:14 PM

Hopefully Delpo can beat Djokovic in the final.

by Anonymousreply 308September 7, 2018 10:15 PM

this is ridicolous, rafal says: l i am injured thats why you re winning

by Anonymousreply 309September 7, 2018 10:16 PM

Nadal’s being a bit of a cunt now. If he can’t be competitive he should just shake hands and get off the court.

by Anonymousreply 310September 7, 2018 10:21 PM

HE DID IT!

by Anonymousreply 311September 7, 2018 10:21 PM

Well, at least Delpo will be well rested for the men's final on Sunday.

by Anonymousreply 312September 7, 2018 10:22 PM

Nadal retires. Now he can spend more time with Xisca.

by Anonymousreply 313September 7, 2018 10:22 PM

Oops—spoke too soon. He has retired...

by Anonymousreply 314September 7, 2018 10:22 PM

Well, now i am team delpo. I don't want novak to win.

by Anonymousreply 315September 7, 2018 10:23 PM

Potro deserved it . He was fantastic

by Anonymousreply 316September 7, 2018 10:23 PM

Agreed, r316.

by Anonymousreply 317September 7, 2018 10:24 PM

DelPo team!

by Anonymousreply 318September 7, 2018 10:25 PM

Thers one good side of it, novak - nishikori will start earlier

by Anonymousreply 319September 7, 2018 10:25 PM

Nole.

by Anonymousreply 320September 7, 2018 10:27 PM

Too bad he beat Thiem in the QF.

by Anonymousreply 321September 7, 2018 10:28 PM

Nishi.

by Anonymousreply 322September 7, 2018 10:28 PM

Will the jinx pic at OP work against Djokovic?

by Anonymousreply 323September 7, 2018 10:29 PM

Healthy Nadal is still undefeated.

by Anonymousreply 324September 7, 2018 10:30 PM

yeah, sure, with Thiem he almost lost

by Anonymousreply 325September 7, 2018 10:34 PM

Hilarious that people consider Nadal the greatest when he pulls shit like this.

by Anonymousreply 326September 7, 2018 10:35 PM

Yes, r324, YES!

by Anonymousreply 327September 7, 2018 10:36 PM

He is injured you sick fucks. He didn't want to retire.

by Anonymousreply 328September 7, 2018 10:37 PM

how r328. Got no sympathy, his style of play is prone to injury

by Anonymousreply 329September 7, 2018 10:48 PM

why the fuck did the bitch interrupt Brad Gilbert while he was talking? so fucking rude!!!

by Anonymousreply 330September 7, 2018 10:49 PM

He lost his conditioning not an injury. Said it was fine after match when he was winning. You don't use it as an excuse now, not to the guy always injured.

by Anonymousreply 331September 7, 2018 10:51 PM

That is his injury. The problem can show up even when you play just a few hours, you never know. That Thiem match affected it for sure.

by Anonymousreply 332September 7, 2018 10:54 PM

I'm rooting for Kei. He's the underdog.

by Anonymousreply 333September 7, 2018 10:54 PM

Even Djokovic's body language, dismissive tone, and smirkiness during his interview makes me want to punch him in the face.

by Anonymousreply 334September 7, 2018 10:55 PM

Are any of you on Misery team?

by Anonymousreply 335September 7, 2018 10:55 PM

Uh guys, I don't think it's an easy decision to retire from the richest tournament ever -

Winner: $3,800,000

Runner-Up: $1,850,000

Semifinalist: $925,000

Quarterfinalist: $475,000

by Anonymousreply 336September 7, 2018 11:00 PM

Kei team

by Anonymousreply 337September 7, 2018 11:08 PM

And Nadal has a huge entourage - salaries, hotel rooms, fine dining etc all on his tab... he needs to go deep in every tournament no doubt.

by Anonymousreply 338September 7, 2018 11:13 PM

At least the magenta shorts are a good distraction.

by Anonymousreply 339September 7, 2018 11:13 PM

Someone please knock Mama out.

by Anonymousreply 340September 7, 2018 11:19 PM

So two lousy semi-finals today. Poor Kei.

by Anonymousreply 341September 7, 2018 11:19 PM

Nadal knew Del Potro was going to beat him so he gave up.

by Anonymousreply 342September 7, 2018 11:20 PM

Nole.

by Anonymousreply 343September 7, 2018 11:42 PM

Will you root for DelPo or Novak on Sunday?

by Anonymousreply 344September 7, 2018 11:49 PM
Nadal knew Del Potro was going to beat him so he gave up.

Yes, that's true. Continue playing to worsen an injury and lose out on future earnings, or call it a day now, because playing injured, he knows won't be able to win today.

It's a business.

by Anonymousreply 345September 7, 2018 11:51 PM

Delpo for Sunday! I hope Djokovic gets all moody because the crowd is behind Delpo.

by Anonymousreply 346September 7, 2018 11:53 PM

R346, if he does a heartfelt boobs out gesture today will you support him on Sunday?

by Anonymousreply 347September 8, 2018 12:06 AM

R346 if that really happens, it will only help Nole to win.

by Anonymousreply 348September 8, 2018 12:10 AM

I can't stand Nadal, but I don't believe for a minute that he retired on purpose. He is a beast and always tries. If it is his knee, which it appeared to be, there's no way you can really move.

by Anonymousreply 349September 8, 2018 12:25 AM

How is Kei doing? Any chance we could get a Kei-Delpo final?

by Anonymousreply 350September 8, 2018 12:28 AM

Kei is playing extremely well; his speed is amazing. He’s still down a set and a break, though.

by Anonymousreply 351September 8, 2018 12:30 AM

Kei is probably playing the best tennis he could play and is still trailing Djokovic. He's still got a shot at coming back in the second set, though.

by Anonymousreply 352September 8, 2018 12:32 AM

Delpokei

Chevy Chase looked like a crazy old person when he was interviewed at his seat.

by Anonymousreply 355September 8, 2018 12:42 AM

what's happening? where is novak?

by Anonymousreply 356September 8, 2018 12:48 AM

Novak is serving in the second game of the third set.

by Anonymousreply 357September 8, 2018 12:55 AM

Perfect, R354.

by Anonymousreply 358September 8, 2018 1:05 AM

The Mrs. Novak in traditional dress tonight.

by Anonymousreply 359September 8, 2018 1:16 AM

Nishikori is playing very good tennis but it doesn't seem like it'll be enough to beat Djokovic.

by Anonymousreply 360September 8, 2018 1:16 AM

I like Novak. I don't know of many other players who so desperately want the love of the crowd as he. Martina could be that way as well.

by Anonymousreply 361September 8, 2018 1:17 AM

I cannot believe they showed that interview with stupid Chevy Chase while the match was going on! WTF???

by Anonymousreply 362September 8, 2018 1:18 AM

Someone please put Kei out of his misery. He's dreadful.

by Anonymousreply 363September 8, 2018 1:18 AM

Chase seemed kind of surprised himself, R362.

by Anonymousreply 364September 8, 2018 1:19 AM

Chevy seemed unusually polite and engaging with Pam; that was unexpected.

by Anonymousreply 365September 8, 2018 1:20 AM

Can DelPo pull off another US Open victory? I hope so.

by Anonymousreply 366September 8, 2018 1:21 AM

Nishikori isn't playing badly but this is always such a bad match-up for him. Djokovic does everything just a bit better, except Kei might be just a tad (if that) faster on the court.

by Anonymousreply 367September 8, 2018 1:22 AM

I simply cannot watch the on-court interview with Djokovic. His manner is just is so off-putting.

by Anonymousreply 368September 8, 2018 1:22 AM

Kei played very well in the second set. Now the wheels have come off.

by Anonymousreply 369September 8, 2018 1:22 AM

Nole

by Anonymousreply 370September 8, 2018 1:26 AM

Oh God, he's going to win.

by Anonymousreply 371September 8, 2018 1:27 AM

I hope Delpo can find a way to win this.

by Anonymousreply 372September 8, 2018 1:29 AM

The good news is that both Djokovic and Del Potro should be well rested for the final on Sunday. Here's to a compelling, competitive match!

by Anonymousreply 373September 8, 2018 1:29 AM

We haven't had a good final on the men's side since maybe Nadal/Federer Australian Open '17 or Nole/Stan US Open '16. Wimbledon and the French have been boring for years. Hopefully Sunday is interesting.

by Anonymousreply 374September 8, 2018 1:46 AM

Here's to Djokovic getting handed his ass...

by Anonymousreply 375September 8, 2018 1:48 AM

I'm just glad Isner isn't in the final.

by Anonymousreply 376September 8, 2018 2:00 AM

by Anonymousreply 377September 8, 2018 2:57 AM

R335 Absolutely. One of my favs.

by Anonymousreply 378September 8, 2018 3:37 AM

R340 I think the jogging (as if!) commercial with that fugly necklace is in contention.

by Anonymousreply 379September 8, 2018 3:42 AM
Absolutely. One of my favs.

Me too.

by Anonymousreply 380September 8, 2018 4:03 AM

R100 that's still such a classic match. Amazing we were watching the future of tennis and then both careers went to such an unfortunate turn. One through no fault oh her own and the other a victim of herself. It's an interesting footnote of that era.

by Anonymousreply 381September 8, 2018 4:33 AM

I’m on DelPo team.

by Anonymousreply 382September 8, 2018 4:41 AM

DelPo all the way. He needs to win and tennis needs him to win. It is another great comeback story.

by Anonymousreply 383September 8, 2018 7:47 AM

have we already discussed Kiki winning the double title?

by Anonymousreply 384September 8, 2018 8:19 AM
I like Novak. I don't know of many other players who so desperately want the love of the crowd as he. Martina could be that way as well.

Martina is a good comparison. Ultimately the crowds came to support her once she started losing regularly to Steffi, and became "the old player nearing retirement". Azarenka also a good comparison.

For men, Lendl, to a lesser degree. He wanted to be loved, but didn't seem to try as hard as Djokovic to earn it.

The funny thing is, there was some love for Djokovic when he first appeared on the scene, and would do impressions of the other players' service motions, like McEnroe, Sharapova, etc. But once he started competing and pushing Federer and Nadal, forget it. Federer fans hated him, and Nadal fans hated him, and that probably accounts for 80-90% of tennis fans right there. He also had some problems with retirements, which the fans didn't like.

I've mentioned here before, I was pretty neutral on him until 2011, when he started dominating. I just loved the fact that there was a player who refused to let the ATP become the Roger and Rafa show. That someone took themselves seriously enough to improve his fitness, improve some technical flaws (like his serve), improve his mental approach to the game. If that had been, say, Berdych, instead of Djokovic, I would have supported him too. In my opinion, that's what has been missing from the game the last few years, no one is pushing the top players.

I shudder to think if the last eight years had continued to be the Roger-Rafa show. Nothing against those two players personally, I don't dislike either guy. But their fans can be incredibly rude (cheering for opponents double faults, and such). And the absolute tongue-bath both receive from the tennis media is nauseating. Yeah, Djokovic can be cringe-worthy trying to score crowd support. But I'll always love him for forcing the fans and media to acknowledge there are players besides Rafa and Roger, and pushing the commentators to actually do their job instead of fanboy-ing in the commentary box.

by Anonymousreply 385September 8, 2018 8:21 AM

I never liked Djokovic, never will.

by Anonymousreply 386September 8, 2018 9:40 AM

Poor Kei. I'm available if he needs some consolation.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 387September 8, 2018 10:14 AM

There wasn’t a minute of that match where it felt like Kei had any chance. He’s a level below the top guys.

by Anonymousreply 388September 8, 2018 10:31 AM

I completely agree with r385 with respect to Djokovic. I give Novak tons of credit for not settling for table scraps while all the other players seemed content to let Federer and Nadal rule the ATP. Novak really committed himself 100% to becoming the absolute best tennis player he could become in order to challenge those two. And, guess what, Djokovic now has a winning record against both Federer (24-22) and Nadal (27-25). So, yeah, I have the utmost respect for Djokovic the athlete. As for Djokovic the person, yeah, I find his ingratiating behavior annoying, but neither do I like Federer's prissiness or Nadal's OCD ways.

by Anonymousreply 389September 8, 2018 11:47 AM

R338: Oh come on, let's be serious, Nadal was inviting to holidays every year to a big group of friends, and that was when he was way younger. He has no money problems to think if he should retire or not. He was clearly injured and he was going to lose anyway, he did the right thing.

Delpo has the game to defeat anyone, and i wish he could pull a surprise like he did in his final against Federer, but Novak is the favourite

by Anonymousreply 390September 8, 2018 12:05 PM

r385:
I shudder to think if the last eight years had continued to be the Roger-Rafa show. Nothing against those two players personally, I don't dislike either guy. But their fans can be incredibly rude (cheering for opponents double faults, and such).

I love Djokovic's tennis when he's on (and I'm not a fan of Nadal's style), but I've been to so many Djokovic matches (including a couple versus Nadal) where I've been driven to distraction by Djokovic's fans (usually Serbs living and working in the country hosting the tournament) who not only incessantly chant "No-le! No-le! No-le!" between sets, between games, between points, and, in the tighter end of a set, as the opponent is about to serve, but also don't disdain an applause or two after his opponent's first-serve fault and a resounding applause after a double fault. I can't say that what you're referring to is limited to Nadal and/or Federer fans—it's common among all fans of any player when they become fanaticised and when the chair umpire lets them get away with it.

by Anonymousreply 391September 8, 2018 12:54 PM

The last person I would expect to fake retire is Nadal. He loves the fight and is a great sportsman. Get over it, he was injured. I'm team DelPo all the way.

I know that it's rumored, r394, but I refuse to believe until I see actual footage of said baby. EVERYBODY knows that it's simply impossible to play tennis and have a child at the same time. You'd have to be some sort of mutant superhero or something.

r395, been there; done that.

by Anonymousreply 396September 8, 2018 3:00 PM

by Anonymousreply 397September 8, 2018 3:19 PM

Nadal allegedly has chronic knee problems for several years, no wonder with his movement and style of play and mileage, his body is over for quite a while, somehow he still succeeds, but his body seems ruined.

And her one-year-old daughter is already WALKING and TALKING, and has reached the FINALS of the US OPEN JUNIORS event at age 1. And Serena almost DIED YESTERDAY when she crossed the street in Manhattan, and an Uber Driver drove past that very spot NOT EVEN 20 SECONDS LATER. by Anonymousreply 407September 8, 2018 5:43 PM

That may be true R391, but the chances of actually encountering Djokovic fans at a match are a LOT less likely than encountering obnoxious Fed or Nadal fans. At least in my experience.

by Anonymousreply 408September 8, 2018 5:49 PM

Well, if you go to the Fed and Nadal matches you’ll get Fed and Nadal brats, r408. If you go to Djokovic matches, you’ll get his brats. Sheesh!!

R401? MARRY ME!!!! 😂

by Anonymousreply 409September 8, 2018 6:08 PM

If Serena wins (or even if she loses), do you think they’ll mention that she’s had a baby?

by Anonymousreply 410September 8, 2018 6:10 PM

I love you, R399.

by Anonymousreply 411September 8, 2018 6:11 PM

R409: That's not exactly true. Federer never plays with the crowd against him, he even avoided Davis Cup for years, and when he wanted to win it he did it because Wawrinka was there to save the day.

Rafa had the french crowd against him some times, specially when he played against french players, but that's nothing new for spanish players.

For some reason Djokovic is not loved that way. He was loved when he started, he was seen like funny player but then he rose his level and started to beat Fed and Rafa and things changed.

Yes he had an annoying serbian fans who are not exactly the most respectful ones, but they are a minority

by Anonymousreply 412September 8, 2018 6:14 PM

Oh boohoo, r412. Honestly, let it go. If you really insist, we’ll agree with you that Nadal’s and Federer’s fans are the most obnoxious in the world, and that Djokovic’s fans are the tennis equivalent of concerto attendees from Belle Époque Vienna..

But I’m telling you, that ain’t true. I’ve been there; I’ve heard them.

by Anonymousreply 413September 8, 2018 6:31 PM

But r412 has a point in that I can't remember a single match when the crowd was against Federer. I'm trying to remember how the crowd was in 2001 when Federer (the newcomer) beat Sampras (the veteran) at Wimbledon. Was the crowd more for Sampras or Federer? Anybody remember?

by Anonymousreply 414September 8, 2018 6:51 PM

R413: I know my english is bad, but not as bad as your reading comprehension. The serbian crowd is annoying and disrespectful but they are a small bunch in most tournaments.

We get a prime example in this US Open of how people react to Roger, in any other circumstance a crowd would cheer for the underdog, but not for Millman, not against Roger. And it's lucky that Roger is a polite player, other would use that against his rivals (i know that generally only happens on Davis Cup).

R414 I doubt people cheered for Sampras in that match. Sampras was respected as a great player but he was not a crowd pleaser. People were more into Agassi. I think in the last 25 years, Roger is probably the player with more devoted fans. It's understable, when he is on his tennis is a master piece. Nadal on the other hand appeal to people who see the sport as a fight, and he fights till the last point

by Anonymousreply 415September 8, 2018 7:05 PM

By the way Lopatetskaya defeated Cory Gauff (again) on the junior girls qtr. People say it was a great match between two great young players (Dasha is 15, Cory 14)

Hopefully both toned down the drama that it was their Les petits as semifinal. Dasha was crying all the time (even when she was winning)

by Anonymousreply 416September 8, 2018 7:08 PM

How did Nishikori manage to play through all those Djokovic fans last night?

by Anonymousreply 417September 8, 2018 7:09 PM

Kei is adorable.

by Anonymousreply 418September 8, 2018 7:13 PM

I was stabbed.

by Anonymousreply 419September 8, 2018 7:19 PM

Sampras was very inconsistent toward the end of his career, getting bounced in the first or second round of the French and Wimbledon.

by Anonymousreply 420September 8, 2018 7:21 PM

R420: The truth is Federer was very inconsistent back then too. He was able to get great victories against top players (i remember him destroying Marat Safin on clay) but he was unable to keep that level for long time. His victory against Sampras was considered a big surprise back then, maybe because at that moment Federer just looked like a lot of other talented players that ended underachieving due to their mentality. Fortunately for Roger he was able to rise his level soon

by Anonymousreply 421September 8, 2018 7:28 PM

by Anonymousreply 428September 8, 2018 7:49 PM

I love how much the press and media are talking about Serena’s baby. For twenty plus years, she and her sister have had to shovel through all sorts of shit about how Venus and Serena were actually men. “They’re the Williams brothers.” Anything and everything said to diminish and demean them.

So now that Serena has gotten pregnant and given birth, we get to marvel at every fucking detail of it. It’s making those same haters miserable but guess what? They’ve always been miserable. Nothing has changed.

by Anonymousreply 433September 8, 2018 8:04 PM

I’d forgotten about Deborah Cox.

by Anonymousreply 434September 8, 2018 8:04 PM

I had a baby.

by Anonymousreply 435September 8, 2018 8:04 PM

BUT THE BLOOD CLOTS!!!!

by Anonymousreply 436September 8, 2018 8:05 PM

Do we have a shot when they mention she was pregnant?

by Anonymousreply 437September 8, 2018 8:07 PM

Maybe they're all just stunned (like the rest of us) that a baby actually came out of her, so they mention it incessantly to remind themselves that it really happened.

by Anonymousreply 438September 8, 2018 8:10 PM

Does Serena have her baby in her tote bag?

by Anonymousreply 439September 8, 2018 8:11 PM

I don't think Osaka is intimidated by Serena but I wouldn't be surprised if feels intimidated by the occasion. I hope not, though.

by Anonymousreply 443September 8, 2018 8:12 PM

Well, I have Sjögren's Syndrome...and hot flashes!

by Anonymousreply 444September 8, 2018 8:14 PM

Osaka is too oblivious and stupid to be intimidated by anything.

by Anonymousreply 445September 8, 2018 8:15 PM

Who is this Osaka person you mention?

by Anonymousreply 446September 8, 2018 8:15 PM

Serena's baby is actually one of the linesman.

by Anonymousreply 447September 8, 2018 8:16 PM

by Anonymousreply 470September 8, 2018 8:40 PM

R385 and R389, I'm with both of you. Mad respect for what Djokovic did starting in 2011. He decided he no longer wanted to be the bridesmaid to Nadal and Federer. I think it started at the 2010 US Open. Djokovic didn't play well in that final against Nadal and it motivated him to improve. Then he had that remarkable year in 2011. In 2012 it was a bit odd, as he started the year with a tough 5 set victory over Nadal at the Aussie Open. Then he lost to Nadal in the final of the French, to Federer in the semis of Wimbledon, and to Murray in the final of the US Open. I always thought in 2012 he was feeling the pressure of to defend that stellar 2011 season.

In 2013 he won the Aussie Open once again, beating Murray in the final. Then he lost that heartbreaker to Nadal in the semis of the French 9-7 in the 5th. He really should have won that match and he knew it, and I think it affected the rest of his year. He got to the Wimbledon final but lost to Murray, then finished the year with a disappointing effort against Nadal in the US Open final.

In 2014, he lost to a red-hot Stan Wawrinka in the quarters of the Aussie Open, to Nadal yet again at the French, which was becoming a mental block for him, but he beat Federer in 5 sets for the Wimbledon title, then lost to Nishikori at the semis of the US Open. In 2015 he reasserted his dominance, taking the Aussie, Wimbledon, and US Open titles. His big disappointment that year was taking Nadal out of the French quarters but losing yet again to a red-hot Wawrinka in the French final.

In 2016, he continued to dominate in the first half, taking the Aussie Open title yet again, then finally taking the French title over Murray, who was becoming his main rival on the tour. He lost to Querry in the 3rd round of Wimbledon, but got back to the US Open final where a once-again red-hot Wawrinka was waiting for him and took him down. Amazing how over the years Stan just pops up playing unbelievable tennis to take the odd Slam. Then we know about his injury woes until the 2018 Wimbledon title.

Between 2011 and mid-2016, he won 11 Slams. Not as good as Federer's 14 Slam run from 2004 to 2009, but still a remarkable achievement.

by Anonymousreply 471September 8, 2018 8:40 PM

No hate for Osaka here. She’s been taken to task for giggling in her interviews, but I think we’re almost all of us rooting for her. At least a bit of exciting new blood on the WTA, after so many years of dire, boring uncompelling tennis pablum.

by Anonymousreply 472September 8, 2018 8:41 PM

Giant steps, muscling the ball, desperate for aces.... Serena is pressed lol. I hope Osaka can keep this up.

by Anonymousreply 475September 8, 2018 8:44 PM

by Anonymousreply 476September 8, 2018 8:46 PM

Will we start referring to Serena as Granny II here?

by Anonymousreply 477September 8, 2018 8:47 PM

She had a [italic]BABY[/italic], r476?.

by Anonymousreply 478September 8, 2018 8:48 PM

Serena would be winning this match if she didn't have to breastfeed her BABY on the changeovers. It's clearly not fair.

by Anonymousreply 479September 8, 2018 8:49 PM

Whi is the super built black guy beside Sascha in Naomi's box?

by Anonymousreply 480September 8, 2018 8:50 PM

Maybe the baby should come out to serve for her.

by Anonymousreply 481September 8, 2018 8:50 PM

Yes R478. she did. And she nearly died! I wouldn't have known except for the Guardian's pre-match write-up:

It was an ominous statement of intent by the American, who is seven months into her comeback after enduring life-threatening complications when giving birth to her first child a year ago

by Anonymousreply 482September 8, 2018 8:51 PM

by Anonymousreply 489September 8, 2018 8:57 PM

Does Naomi not know that Serena is a mother!

by Anonymousreply 490September 8, 2018 8:57 PM

Sascha is loving this so far. Like most of us. I love seeing Serena so desperate and pressed.

by Anonymousreply 491September 8, 2018 8:57 PM

I've often thought it must be strange for Serena and Patrick to still work with each other, considering their past.

Didn't their relationship break up his marriage?

by Anonymousreply 492September 8, 2018 8:57 PM

6-2! And Patrick M. is looking so, so handsome.

by Anonymousreply 493September 8, 2018 8:57 PM

Osaka generates such easy but controlled power.

by Anonymousreply 494September 8, 2018 8:57 PM

If you're truly loved, Serena, the commentators will start coming up with some good excuses for you.

by Anonymousreply 495September 8, 2018 8:58 PM

Osaka hit the ball hard, but she is not like the brainless ballbashers in teh wta tour, she selects her shots. If she gets consistency she'll be a threat to anyone and she could do well at any surface

by Anonymousreply 496September 8, 2018 8:59 PM

Venus looking like "how did I lose to this slow, old woman."

by Anonymousreply 497September 8, 2018 9:00 PM

I just assume they're still having sex, r492.

by Anonymousreply 498September 8, 2018 9:00 PM

Venus, you need to let go of the ruse that you even try to beat your sister. The rest of us certainly have.

by Anonymousreply 499September 8, 2018 9:02 PM
Didn't their relationship break up his marriage?

Yes, R492, and it traumatized his children.

by Anonymousreply 500September 8, 2018 9:02 PM

As long as Patrick keeps paying Serena, he can continue to sit in her box.

by Anonymousreply 501September 8, 2018 9:02 PM

Roid rage incoming!

by Anonymousreply 502September 8, 2018 9:04 PM

Serena should just yell at Osaka that she's going to take the fucking ball and shove it down her fucking throat.

by Anonymousreply 503September 8, 2018 9:04 PM

Serena knows she’s not going to win this. It’s hard to watch when great athletes get old.

by Anonymousreply 504September 8, 2018 9:05 PM

Remember, she's not the one!

by Anonymousreply 505September 8, 2018 9:06 PM

Serena is getting coaching from the stands. Even Chris Evert said so.

by Anonymousreply 506September 8, 2018 9:07 PM

Serena plays bully tennis; glad Osaka isn’t cowed.

by Anonymousreply 507September 8, 2018 9:07 PM

Ha. Patrick caught on camera making signals to Serena.

by Anonymousreply 508September 8, 2018 9:07 PM

wow sascha already has grey hair!

by Anonymousreply 509September 8, 2018 9:08 PM

Who is the hot bearded guy in the black Yonex t-shirt sitting next to Osaka's mother?

by Anonymousreply 510September 8, 2018 9:08 PM

“Code violation. Coaching. Mrs Serena Williams.” In high dudgeon, Mrs Serena Williams moves to the chair umpire. “I don’t cheat. Just so you know?” Cut to slow-mo of Mouratoglou gesticulating either that he wanted to take her from behind or that she has to start moving in to the net.

by Anonymousreply 511September 8, 2018 9:08 PM

Mouratoglou gives Serena a sign to go into the net. The umpire issues a warning. Fowler: Was he right to warn her? Mary Joe: "There wasn't much there."

Such brave commentary!

by Anonymousreply 512September 8, 2018 9:09 PM

Yeah R506 first they said the warning from the umpire was out of line them she said she's following her coach by coming to the net. Ugh...they have been kissing Serena's ass for the last 2 weeks. Go Naomi!!

by Anonymousreply 513September 8, 2018 9:10 PM

Anyone else be happy if Serena loses her cool ala Clijsters or Stosur matches today? She certainly seems on edge - would be interesting given this whole PR push behind her of late and her motherhood.

by Anonymousreply 514September 8, 2018 9:12 PM

Marry me r502

by Anonymousreply 515September 8, 2018 9:13 PM

Then she blatantly lied about it and tried to intimidate (per usual) the umpire, r506. Pathetic.

by Anonymousreply 516September 8, 2018 9:13 PM

Serena playing better. The umpire pissed her off. Crowd behind her.

by Anonymousreply 517September 8, 2018 9:13 PM

But THE BABY, r513 (I’ve heard there’s a baby)!!! How will she feed it once it’s weened if she doesn’t win another three zillion dollars?!?!

by Anonymousreply 518September 8, 2018 9:14 PM

THat's it Naomi! make her run!!!

by Anonymousreply 519September 8, 2018 9:15 PM

Also say what you want about Chris evert but that bitch don’t give AF!!! They showed the changeover exchange between Serena and the umpire and Chrissie still calls out her colleague Patrick and says it was coaching. HOT!!

by Anonymousreply 520September 8, 2018 9:15 PM

R510 the father.

by Anonymousreply 521September 8, 2018 9:17 PM

Gotta hand it to Naomi, she's handling the pressure well. for a 10 year old kid!

by Anonymousreply 522September 8, 2018 9:17 PM

A broken clock is right twice a day.

by Anonymousreply 523September 8, 2018 9:17 PM

Yeah, then Chrissie backpedals and says almost every coach does it, and the umpires rarely call it. Pussy,

by Anonymousreply 524September 8, 2018 9:17 PM

So far Osaka is not getting intimidated by Serena's usual antics

by Anonymousreply 525September 8, 2018 9:18 PM

Osaka is a "Chris Evert Academy" graduate/alumna. So Chrissie, I'm sure, is rooting for Naomi.

by Anonymousreply 526September 8, 2018 9:19 PM

LOL R518. As soon as I hit send I figured I would be duly chastised for NOT THINKING OF THE BABY!!!

R519 I am yelling the same thing to my TV

by Anonymousreply 527September 8, 2018 9:19 PM

Of course she has to backpedal. Otherwise, ESPN will cut her off.

by Anonymousreply 528September 8, 2018 9:19 PM

by Anonymousreply 564September 8, 2018 9:30 PM

I'm really impressed by Naomi, she hasn't been rattled by Serena.

Serena is losing her shit and makes herself look bad. Using her daughter as every excuse ffs.

by Anonymousreply 565September 8, 2018 9:30 PM

And another break.

With Serena you never know, she can always come back but i still remember how she lose against Sam Stosur here (and Sam is known for her epic chokes)

by Anonymousreply 566September 8, 2018 9:30 PM

I can't believe she played the "I have a daughter!!!!" card.

by Anonymousreply 567September 8, 2018 9:31 PM

by Anonymousreply 573September 8, 2018 9:32 PM

It's like déjà vu.

by Anonymousreply 574September 8, 2018 9:32 PM

I can't watch this at the moment so am following here and online. She didn't really say she had a daughter in all this coaching and racket carry-one did she?

by Anonymousreply 575September 8, 2018 9:33 PM

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

by Anonymousreply 576September 8, 2018 9:33 PM

She can't be allowed to say what the fuck she wants. She needs to apologize to him! She keeps saying this is not fair! lots of men do this and nothing happens.

by Anonymousreply 577September 8, 2018 9:33 PM

Wow. this is some ugly Drama. Serena should have let it go and played on. Instead she's drawn it out to this ridiculous level.

by Anonymousreply 578September 8, 2018 9:33 PM

They should show Patrick giving the hand signals on the Jumbotron

by Anonymousreply 579September 8, 2018 9:34 PM

SUCH. A. CHEAT.

by Anonymousreply 580September 8, 2018 9:34 PM

She's too stupid, she keeps thinking she can say what the fuck she wants and gets away with it.

by Anonymousreply 581September 8, 2018 9:34 PM

Now I REALLY HOPE Naomi wins

by Anonymousreply 582September 8, 2018 9:34 PM

Now, she's pulling the woman card. It has nothing to do with being a woman, all to do for pulling this same shit twice in the US Open final.

by Anonymousreply 583September 8, 2018 9:34 PM

PLAYING THE WOMAN CARD!

by Anonymousreply 584September 8, 2018 9:34 PM

Fuck Serena; she's not winning so she's having a fit. GO NAOMI.

by Anonymousreply 585September 8, 2018 9:34 PM

This is shitty - she's trying to disrupt Osaka.

by Anonymousreply 586September 8, 2018 9:35 PM

I'm a woman.

by Anonymousreply 587September 8, 2018 9:35 PM

by Anonymousreply 588September 8, 2018 9:36 PM

by Anonymousreply 589September 8, 2018 9:36 PM

I feel bad for Naomi. This isn't her drama, but she's stuck in the middle of it.

by Anonymousreply 590September 8, 2018 9:36 PM

Why is anyone cheering for her?

by Anonymousreply 591September 8, 2018 9:36 PM

by Anonymousreply 604September 8, 2018 9:39 PM

yeah!!!! Naomi!!!!

by Anonymousreply 605September 8, 2018 9:42 PM

How much do you think they'll fine Serena for this display?

by Anonymousreply 606September 8, 2018 9:42 PM

And Osaka is the new US Open champion. I really like her game and i think this is the first of many GS for her

by Anonymousreply 607September 8, 2018 9:42 PM

It's all the coach's fault, if he didn't coach her, this wouldn't have happened!

by Anonymousreply 608September 8, 2018 9:42 PM

Keep waking Serena, and hand in your resignation at the front desk.

by Anonymousreply 609September 8, 2018 9:43 PM

She is 3.4 million dollars richer!!!

by Anonymousreply 610September 8, 2018 9:43 PM

Hope Serena doesn't shit all over the trophy presentation. Regardless of the drama, Serena was losing this match.

by Anonymousreply 611September 8, 2018 9:43 PM

This is why Serena is so hated. Roid rage mixed with borderline personality disorder. I'm sick of her and so glad she lost.

by Anonymousreply 612September 8, 2018 9:43 PM

Her dad is there but not in the box. Her mommy is hugging her

by Anonymousreply 613September 8, 2018 9:44 PM

Patrick just admitted he was coaching! and he said sascha was coaching too.

by Anonymousreply 614September 8, 2018 9:45 PM

Huge props to Naomi for holding it together!

by Anonymousreply 615September 8, 2018 9:45 PM

Apparently Serena was the only woman on the court (along with being the only mother in the world).

by Anonymousreply 616September 8, 2018 9:50 PM

look at the way serena is posing on stage lol

by Anonymousreply 617September 8, 2018 9:53 PM

The crowd is booing. this is so bad for naomi. she is crying.

by Anonymousreply 618September 8, 2018 9:54 PM

This is so unfair to naomi!!!!!!!!!! FUCK YOU SERENA!

by Anonymousreply 619September 8, 2018 9:54 PM

Disgusting! Booing at Naomi's celebration. Disgusting.

by Anonymousreply 620September 8, 2018 9:54 PM

The crowd is trash for booing during Osaka's moment. Blame Serena not the tournament.

by Anonymousreply 621September 8, 2018 9:55 PM

Serena should have said that Naomi would've won anyway.....

by Anonymousreply 622September 8, 2018 9:59 PM

The guy is asking such stupid questions!!!

by Anonymousreply 623September 8, 2018 10:00 PM

Why doesn't she answer the questions? She is stupid.

by Anonymousreply 624September 8, 2018 10:01 PM

Serena needs to be shrouded for not accepting responsibility for this debacle.

by Anonymousreply 625September 8, 2018 10:04 PM

Fuck Serena. Many people are bringing up roid rage lol!!!

by Anonymousreply 626September 8, 2018 10:05 PM

They are showing more of Serena's rants on TV. How did she expect to get away with talking to the umpire like that??

by Anonymousreply 627September 8, 2018 10:07 PM

And the female commentator is saying Serena might not have known...fucking BS...she has been playing for decades, she knows the fucking rules!!!

by Anonymousreply 628September 8, 2018 10:08 PM

Naomi is so sweet and respectful. She deserves to be given respect and her due as champion.

by Anonymousreply 629September 8, 2018 10:08 PM

Osaka didn't say she was proud to be first winner from Japan when asked the question. WTF?

by Anonymousreply 630September 8, 2018 10:11 PM

Notice the 'head nod' right at the end of Patrick's coaching, as if to confirm that his message has been received.

by Anonymousreply 631September 8, 2018 10:12 PM

Quite possibly the biggest "DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM?" moment in sports history.

by Anonymousreply 632September 8, 2018 10:21 PM

Does anyone know whether Serena has any children?

by Anonymousreply 633September 8, 2018 10:29 PM

Why yes r633, Serena was gracious enough to take time out of the US One Women's Final to let the umpire know that she has a daughter!
