Has the same symbol tattooed on his ankle, and I noticed that some of his 'friends' wear a similar necklace.

Allegedly Leo and his entourage call themselves the 'Wolf Pack' now ... when I first read that, I thought it was a bad joke, and if true, just incredibly childish. Then I discovered that tattoo with the W symbol, and the strange matching necklaces. Now I wonder if Leo is actually so deluded as to consider himself some kind of cult leader, and what he might make his 'followers' do to prove their devotion.

Anyway ... I used to think - many, many moons ago - that he was so adorable, just a tad too full of himself, which seemed forgiveable for a man blessed with his looks, charms and talent. But these days I have no doubt in my mind that he's a sick, a twisted, a dangerous individual.

I doubt Leo thinks of himself as a cult leader, more like an alpha male and "chairman of the board" of his little pseudo Rat Pack.

Which is silly, as he totally lacks any Alpha Male vibe! His early success was based on his girly prettiness and his non-threatening beta-male vibe, he had that bottom-boy vibe that teen girls love for some reason. He may be middle-aged now but he doesn't come across as any manlier, now he's got that pinch-mouth bitchface you see on middle managers who like to abuse their petty authority. His adult success really is inexplicable, he tries hard as an actor but all you ever really see is him trying hard.

I agree with the poster upthread who worked at a comedy club- I would hazard that 90% of comedians or comedic actors are extremely unhappy and unkind people. There is something about making people laugh that alleviates whatever pain they're going through.

Also Method actors tend to be unhappy people (Bale, Carrey, Elizabeth Shue, DDL, Phoenix, Brody, Swank, Ledger, etc). To cancel out yourself completely to be another person, and to do it often, ehhhhh.

And to the poster who mention Elijah Wood, most people who work in horror are probably the happiest people in the world, because they get to get out all that dark stuff on film. There's an urban legend about Dario Argento- he was once asked, "What would you be if you weren't a film maker?" He answered, "A mass/serial killer".

As are the stories from every crew member and PA or AD who has dealt with him. He basically as 2 notes as an actor and directors found them useful, but his behavior was more significant than any talent he had. He was pretty ruthless in the ways he gained traction in the business.

There is a huge difference between a reputation for being "difficult" (the awesomely talented and kind Gene Hackman) vs the limited talents with huge destructive and behavioral issues

Every human being has a dark side, this is a fact of the human psyche and hardly a feature unique to Celebrities. The seismic shift in a persons' reality when fame descends is impossible to describe and, in almost every case, disillusioning. I have never met a famous person whose experience of fame in the entertainment business matched their expectations of what it would be. Most people who pursue fame, overtly or covertly believe the attainment of fame will be a panacea and it isn't. Fame is isolating and it takes a lot of effort to maintain. People treat you differently for sure and deferentially most of the time. For a weak or damaged psyche this leads to delusion and desperation. I achieved my degree of fame later in life so it wasn't as head spinning for me but it is a mind fuck. NONE of this excuses the monstrous behavior that is starting to leak out to the general public but for years if you were famous you could expect a certain amount of insolation from your worst mistakes and that is starting to recede.
