Doing another genre project would appeal to and likely expand that base, so why would that be bad. I don't think anyone is blaming Cavill for the collapse of DCU, but he surely didn't elevate his role. With that said, there were a bunch of outlets reporting that he and his manager demanded WB to fulfill his contract, give him a chunk of change and control of the story. Plus, Cavill is on record making it known he had one more movie in his contract w/WB.

As a big fan of the books and games, I say this is certainly possible if executed properly. (And I can see Netflix pouring in a lot of money into the project.)
