Is it possible in the age of social media? How do those who aren’t openly gay or glass closeted pull off same-sex affairs?
How do celebrities avoid gay rumors?
by Anonymous | reply 71 | October 23, 2018 1:42 AM |
...by being straight.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | August 29, 2018 9:24 PM |
The only thing I could come up with is limiting it to people like personal trainers and others who have a legit reason to be in the celebrity’s house.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | August 29, 2018 10:20 PM |
Does this really just not happen?

[quote]who aren’t openly gay or glass closeted pull off same-sex affairs?
I think they pay.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | August 30, 2018 12:14 PM |
What's wrong with gay rumors? "Avoiding" them seems homophobic. Nothing wrong with being gay.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | August 30, 2018 12:16 PM |
R5 Of course not, but someone who is, say, married to a beard has his reasons for keeping it out of the public eye. This isn’t about coming out vs. staying closeted, it’s about how a high-profile person gets away with something. Similar to a married hetero celeb hiding an affair.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | August 30, 2018 12:28 PM |
A high-profile person DOESN'T avoid gay rumors. Period. Closeted, out, whatever. No attractive celebrity will ever avoid having the public fantasize about and question his/her sexuality. How do celebrities avoid gay rumors? Be Danny DeVito. Or Ernest Borgnine. Or some unattractive person (not that those guys are/were gay) who is not really "fuckable" to the general public. That's about it.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | August 30, 2018 12:33 PM |
R7 Interestingly that doesn’t apply to rock stars. Steven Tyler, for example, is ugly as homemade sin and the rumors have followed him around for years.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | August 30, 2018 5:50 PM |
Do what I did - fuck every woman in sight, including Dame May Shitty, Jane Farewell and Beulah Bondi.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | August 30, 2018 6:59 PM |
NDAs
by Anonymous | reply 10 | August 30, 2018 7:02 PM |
Steven Tyler is not fat, and to many people that's attractive, no matter the face. It's especially true of men.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | August 30, 2018 7:37 PM |
Easy peasy guys ! You just stand next to every woman who’s standing near you and you pretend its your girlfriend . I followed a male model on ig and there was a party somewhere and I knew he was gay and he had his picture taken with a woman . Didn’t say anything . I went to her ig and she was there with her boyfriend at that party . But not a word this was just a stranger to him . He’s in the closet and lives in New York
by Anonymous | reply 12 | August 30, 2018 8:03 PM |
R10 That’s a good point. I imagine that NDAs are an entire sub-industry in Hollywood.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | August 31, 2018 2:00 PM |
Gay rumors means you've made it in Hollywood!
At least that's what my roommate says.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | August 31, 2018 8:19 PM |
R14 I think that’s what George “Gay, gay...But not GAY” Clooney said too.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | September 2, 2018 3:04 PM |
I know a closeted D-list actor who takes vacations with his female pals, then posts pics on the internet with captions implying that said pals are his girlfriends.
Many straight people are awfully naive - they think any guy who has ever been married or "linked" to a woman romantically is straight. So if rumors surface about a guy, they'll point to his romances (or "romances") with women and say "He can't be gay!"
by Anonymous | reply 16 | September 2, 2018 3:12 PM |
(R16) You are absolutely right. Because it was my reaction regarding an actor who played in the 80s in a controversial movie called Cruising.....
by Anonymous | reply 17 | September 2, 2018 3:31 PM |
R16 correct

[quote]How do celebrities avoid gay rumors?
They can't. Someone at Datalounge always knows the tea

by avoiding DL
by Anonymous | reply 20 | September 2, 2018 5:07 PM |
[quote]They can't. Someone at Datalounge always knows the tea
And yet the people R16 is talking about are always the ones on the threads insisting it isn’t possible. Nothing is more annoying than a DLer with actual gossip and people jumping all over him.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | September 2, 2018 5:15 PM |
I do wonder how prevalent NDAs are.
Enty had a lot of BIs about Cumberbatch being gay and then marrying his wife to secure a beard. Then a lot of BIs about how he and his wife hate each other and he’s desperate for a divorce (despite the two kids together?). There are rumors that he’s a big pussy hound and has been getting with or at least chasing after virtually all his female costars. IDK if I believe any of it but I suppose if he actually is gay and he and his wife hate each other that he could be intentionally having little affairs with women left and right so that if/when the divorce finally happens, no one will believe her if she tries to out him as gay, because a couple dozen women will be able to vouch that he ate them out or whatever.

(R19) How do they (people on Data lounge) manage to know the truth about the celebrities and their sexual orientation ?????

If he's D-list, why does he feel the need to beard?

"How do celebrities avoid gay rumors?"
There's this special little box that they attach to you and you say, "Go away gay!" three times and then click your heels and poof! All the gay rumors disappear.
Trust me, I've done this thousands of times.
Just watch the ribs.
I just look like I could fly through the air like Peter Pan. Splattering against a building like a bug on a windshield will disabuse you of that notion.
Is Mindy Cohen my friend? No? Who am I thinking of?
Brad Pitt. Fuck that asshole. An Oscar! WTF?
by Anonymous | reply 29 | September 8, 2018 11:09 AM |
R6 Hugh Jackman fits your scenario.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | September 8, 2018 11:14 AM |
Do NDAs really work? Let's say that 5% of all celebrities are gay or bi, why don't we see more stories about someone who has been with a celebrity? Is it because of NDAs or because the media doesn't want to publish or broadcast these confessions? Or both? Well, except for those men that Jake meets in dark places. I don't suppose he has NDAs with him (and a pen) in his back pocket that he asks them to sign once they've done their business.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | September 8, 2018 11:25 AM |
[quote]Let's say that 5% of all celebrities are gay or bi
I think you are dramatically underestimating.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | September 8, 2018 12:35 PM |
I agree with R32.
The percentage of gays/bis in film/arts, etc. is much larger than 5%.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | September 8, 2018 12:47 PM |
Even our Emmanuel Macron has gay rumors, and he's been with the same woman since he was 15! It's a smoke/fire thing.

r35
Not always
by Anonymous | reply 36 | September 8, 2018 3:41 PM |
I know the percentage is greater than 5%. I just didn't want to get into a discussion about the percentage, but to acknowledge (actual percentage unknown) that some celebrities are truly gay or bi, regardless of what they would like us to believe. I aimed low so we could have a discussion, not about the percentage, but about how gay and bi celebrities manage to keep their private (sexual) lives private. Are NDA's effective? Perhaps they are, but they probably they don't come with a 100% guarantee.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | September 8, 2018 8:35 PM |
When asked, they say, “I prefer not to discuss my personal life.”
by Anonymous | reply 38 | September 8, 2018 8:44 PM |
Pay somebody’s rent in a remote town. Pay them to be discreet. Go visit whenever you can. That’s my guess.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | September 8, 2018 8:49 PM |
"Let's say that 5% of all celebrities are gay or bi, why don't we see more stories about someone who has been with a celebrity?"
Because there's a huge taboo against "outing" people. Until the Spacey scandal broke, no guy had ever come forward on the record to say they'd been with him.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | September 9, 2018 2:59 AM |
(R16) but the weirdest "thing" is when the closeted actor, married with a woman (who doesn't work in the "film industry"and it's often the case!!!) have had his children through surrogacy and not "naturally" with his wife like an "ordinary" couple....
by Anonymous | reply 41 | September 9, 2018 1:36 PM |
That’s an interesting thought, R39. I would guess it’s any and all of the above.
And I think there’s more hiding in plain sight than the average person would suspect.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | September 9, 2018 1:57 PM |
r28, most D-listers think they are going to be A-list. And he plays hunk/heartthrob roles
by Anonymous | reply 43 | September 9, 2018 4:39 PM |
DLers, can you inform us about the celebrities or "middle celebrities" avoiding Gay Rumors ? Can you tell us more about these closeted famous or not so famous persons ?
by Anonymous | reply 44 | September 9, 2018 4:53 PM |
R43, so how do these girls feel about this guy using their photos to imply that they are his girlfriends?
by Anonymous | reply 45 | September 10, 2018 12:26 AM |
R45 Maybe they’re in on it. I’d think the risk of them outing him is too great otherwise.

by Anonymous | reply 47 | September 14, 2018 12:35 PM |
The best way a celebrity can avoid having gay rumors posted on the Datalounge is to get fat. Or old. We think EVERYONE is gay!
And even then there's no absolute guarantee.

by Anonymous | reply 51 | September 15, 2018 10:00 AM |
They hook up with discrete escorts or other closet cases who may have even more to lose than them.
NDAs only work when that person has the ambition to make it in Hollywood and / or keep having a business relationship with Hollywood. You can't enforce NDAs or sue someone for breaching an NDA, because that gets media attention which is the very thing they didn't want in the first place. Of course someone who breaks the trust is pretty much dead and unemployable in Hollywood, a town that relies on upholding fake images in order to sell movies, TV shows and other stuff.
The gossip industry created its own stars (Kardashians, for example) who are more than willing to satisfy the gossip rag market with all sorts of scandals and shenanigans. But I guess even they have NDAs in order to control the valuable commodity that is gossip (so only they financially benefit from it) and not some industry outsider.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | September 15, 2018 10:56 AM |
My apologies, please let me try again:

You buy a house big enough to be converted into two separate living space for you and your beard. For extra credit, you make one child in a lab to seal the deal.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | September 15, 2018 11:04 AM |
You think The DL cares?
You have to be white and under 25 to qualify.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | September 15, 2018 11:05 AM |
By being ugly OP. No one is going off on why Jonah Hill or Abe Vigoda are assuredly closet cases.
And even then...
by Anonymous | reply 57 | September 15, 2018 11:06 AM |
No celebrity avoids gay rumors (especially when he is indeed gay, bi, or puts out for roles). The trick is to find some way to counter said rumors. Girlfriends, babies, wives, hiding in plain sight by having PR bromances (why would celebrity do that if he were really gay?), fans insisting that the star being gay is just a vicious rumor that some STD ridden gays came up with in order to claim the star for themselves, make sure the public image doesn't match with / comes close to any of the established gay stereotypes, devout Christian family friendly image, etc.

[quote]No celebrity avoids gay rumors (especially when he is indeed gay, bi, or puts out for roles).
I agree.
Most celebrities today, particularly if they are young & good-looking, don't avoid gay rumors. Particularly if they are actually gay and there are clues.
Unlike in the old days, it's much harder for celebrities today to avoid rumors because of social media & the constant celebrity coverage.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | September 16, 2018 10:40 AM |
(R62) When are not young (born in the late 40s or in 1951.....) they avoid gay rumors getting married with a woman and having children by natural ways or through surrogacy. But I agree, today it's different with young actors they don't hide anything and it's better than lying.
by Anonymous | reply 63 | September 16, 2018 10:58 AM |
Like Keanu Peeves, it was easy to understand who his boyfriend were. He gave them jobs and spent a lot of time with them. Like Rob Mailhouse and Tiger Chen. I think Keanu has fucked hundreds but those two were special to him.
by Anonymous | reply 64 | September 16, 2018 11:00 AM |
5%? Are you nuts? Actors? At least 20% are gay. I don't even live in Hollywood but it is probably 20% around here.
by Anonymous | reply 65 | September 16, 2018 11:10 AM |
And you have actors who tried to avoid gay rumors by making believe they are straight : they have been married with women, have had children and are CLOSETED CASES but for all that they failed to be known and famous (like an actor of the movie Cruising...), all that for that !!!!!
by Anonymous | reply 66 | September 16, 2018 11:14 AM |
R65 I think that would be more 70%.
by Anonymous | reply 67 | September 16, 2018 11:14 AM |
Many of them have likely been with guys discretely but they publicly are seen with women. Even if there are rumors, the public will believe the straight image that is advertised. In this day and age, it's the height of cowardice for a gay actor to play along though. The bisexual and bi-curious ones will likely always eventually settle with a woman and that resolves their rumors.
