It wouldn't kill her to wear a dress once in awhile, especially when she is hosting an award show. The whole "I'm a lesbian" suit thing is getting so tired. How do the rest of you feel?
OP, I bet you don't like Christopher Guest movies either.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | August 29, 2018 5:50 PM |
She doesn't wear a dress because she's a lezzie-bin, and lezzie-bins don't wear dresses.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | August 29, 2018 5:50 PM |
I couldn't care less, OP.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | August 29, 2018 5:52 PM |
Often wondered whether, like many who identify as gay or lesbian, if she is actually transgendered. She used to call herself "gay" all the time- not lesbian.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | August 29, 2018 5:53 PM |
Possibly the least interesting pondering on Datalounge since its inception.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | August 29, 2018 5:53 PM |
She's a bull dyke, what do you expect her to wear?
by Anonymous | reply 7 | August 29, 2018 5:56 PM |
Are you saying OP that women should wear dresses? I'm a man and only wear pants, because that is what I prefer. Should I wear a dress on occasion to make people like you happy?
by Anonymous | reply 8 | August 29, 2018 5:57 PM |
Are you also annoyed that Rachel Maddow doesn't wear floral prints?
by Anonymous | reply 9 | August 29, 2018 5:58 PM |
R6 If I looked like that in a dress I wouldn't wear them either.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | August 29, 2018 6:00 PM |
Why doesn't she smile more? She would be so much prettier if she smiled.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | August 29, 2018 6:00 PM |
Would it kill you to date a woman once in your life, OP?
by Anonymous | reply 12 | August 29, 2018 6:00 PM |
I could see her wearing maybe more sleeker feminine tailored suits but Ellen in a dress? Nah. Plus she doesn’t have boobs or soft shoulders to pull off a dress. Behind closed doors she most likely looks like a grown pubescent old man boy wearing a strap on.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | August 29, 2018 6:06 PM |
She's being true to herself, not being a in-your-face lesbian. Like many lesbians, she's always hated dresses. I don't think she should have to wear one just to conform to other people's dress codes.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | August 29, 2018 6:10 PM |
I don't care about her clothing style, but she can wear whatever she wants. She's clearly comfortable in her clothes.
I think she could wear a similar style, but a touch more elegant. More Margaret Howell, less Banana Republic for men.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | August 29, 2018 6:11 PM |
I’m with R12, OP. I mean, would it kill you to adhere to the Bible? It’s Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve!
by Anonymous | reply 16 | August 29, 2018 6:11 PM |
I never wear a dress. I'm "soft butch" or vaguely femme if you will, and I look and feel ridiculous in a dress. Also, OP, who cares what you think?
by Anonymous | reply 17 | August 29, 2018 6:14 PM |
This should explain why she never wears a dress. Who would want to see this crone in a frock?
by Anonymous | reply 18 | August 29, 2018 6:15 PM |
OP should be directed to the Russian Farm Troll thread.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | August 29, 2018 6:16 PM |
R9. Brava, gurl.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | August 29, 2018 6:16 PM |
OP? Anyone who has her kind of money can wear whatever she wants.
And R7? Are you OK with me calling you a faggot? Just curious.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | August 29, 2018 6:19 PM |
Caftan and earrings would help.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | August 29, 2018 6:19 PM |
I’ve also wondered about it OP. At least put on some girlish slacks or a blouse or wear some rouge or something! I mean hell, Melissa Etheridge is dykey as all get out and even she glams it up every once in a while with make up.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | August 29, 2018 6:27 PM |
Wouldn't kill her to put some lippy on.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | August 29, 2018 6:30 PM |
OP, woman can now wear what they want.
Come out from under your rock, Neanderthal.

by Anonymous | reply 31 | August 29, 2018 7:20 PM |
It's great that she wears what she wants, but she really should change it up a bit. She must feel uncomfortable in a dress the same way RuPaul does in a suit. It is possible that she could be transgender but hasn't come out yet.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | August 29, 2018 7:21 PM |
Maybe there is no gay and all gay people are actually trans.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | August 29, 2018 7:22 PM |
I love Ellen, but, let's face it, she's an unattractive woman. A dress wouldn't do her justice.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | August 29, 2018 7:24 PM |
R21 I have no problem with another homosexual referring to me as a faggot, or a queer, as long as you're not using the term as a form of slander. The term "bull dyke" is a well used term within the lesbian community. Bull dykes are proud of their bull dykeness.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | August 29, 2018 7:25 PM |
Ellen plays into the who role-playing thing that has straight people asking "who's the guy and who's the girl." She needs to stop with the 90s dyke shit and put on a fucking dress once in awhile if we, as a community, are ever to get past that stereotype.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | August 29, 2018 7:28 PM |
Glenn Close (who I firmly believe is a lesbian) should show her how to do lezboglam.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | August 29, 2018 7:29 PM |
How about butching it up a bit, OP. This whole gay men appointing themselves fashion queens was tired years ago.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | August 29, 2018 7:33 PM |
Yeah, and there are plenty of looks that fall between trousers and a frock.
A take on the Punjabi dress, for instance. Trousers with long tunic. Its flattering on men and women alike
by Anonymous | reply 39 | August 29, 2018 7:33 PM |
"She must feel uncomfortable in a dress the same way RuPaul does in a suit."
Ru's repeatedly said he only dresses in drag for the money, and wouldn't care if he never did drag again. His band just decided to dress in drag as a lark one night, and everyone commented how hot he looked. So he stuck with it as a career choice, not something he cares anything about otherwise.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | August 29, 2018 7:34 PM |
Sandra Bernhard could show Ellen a thing or two on how to dress.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | August 29, 2018 7:35 PM |
R37 She stole that look from Sharon Gless.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | August 29, 2018 7:36 PM |
I guess it would be like a straight guy being forced to wear a dress, the same discomfort level.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | August 29, 2018 7:39 PM |
It all depends how you use the term, R7/R35. I'm not sure your use was, shall we say, friendly.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | August 29, 2018 7:41 PM |
I'm surprised none of her guests have asked her this question and that she's never addressed this on her show.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | August 29, 2018 7:44 PM |
I have a partially used Dior pussy bow blouse she could wear to help fem up......
by Anonymous | reply 46 | August 29, 2018 7:50 PM |
Dress ? About the same dykey haircut for the past couple of decades ?
by Anonymous | reply 47 | August 29, 2018 7:52 PM |
Her wife clearly thinks about fashion and wears expensive clothing (even her casual pieces are expensive), but has no distinct style.
Who are the stylish lesbians out there? Are there any?
by Anonymous | reply 48 | August 29, 2018 7:55 PM |
There is nothing like a good old fashioned pantsuit.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | August 29, 2018 7:56 PM |
R35, bull dyke is NOT commonly used in the lesbian community. We called ourselves dykes in the 70s but it was NEVER appropriate for anyone other than ourselves to use that term, just as the N-word can only be uttered by African Americans without giving grave offense.
We did NOT call ourselves bull dykes.
Please stop using that term. Thanks.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | August 29, 2018 7:58 PM |
Greta Garbo was stylish.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | August 29, 2018 7:58 PM |
That's one, R51. Any contemporary ones? I genuinely can't think of one.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | August 29, 2018 8:01 PM |
In terms of our anatomy, it would be much more logical for women to wear pants and men to wear skirts, but that's not the way that fashion evolved. Women have gotten to the pants part, but except in Scotland, men haven't gotten to the skirt part.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | August 29, 2018 8:04 PM |
First of all Ellen can wear whatever in the fuck she wants. She wears makeup and has her hair dyed and wears well tailored clothing. That's her style.
Jodie Foster wears skirts and dresses and gowns, she looks not stylish but great looking. She's very fit and in my opinion very pretty.
My favorite little lesbian style wise is Ellen Page. She does the androgyny thing all the time, but in a grad school sort of way. Cute as hell. I would love to be her beard but she doesn't need one, does she. Cool chick.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | August 29, 2018 8:06 PM |
Trust me she’s better off wearing pants. Nobody wants to see that in a dress.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | August 29, 2018 8:07 PM |
I also find Ellen Page very cute. So there you go, Ellen Page. And who cares about looks anyway?? All I want is a loving partner.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | August 29, 2018 8:11 PM |
Why should she if she doesnt' want to? Idiot.
And being trans has nothing to do with this. Hannah Gadsby talked about that in her last special - people started telling her she must be trans - just because a woman isn't a girly girl, doesn't mean she wants to be a man.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | August 29, 2018 8:11 PM |
[quote]My favorite little lesbian style wise is Ellen Page.
I've seen Page out and about and she looks like a hobo. Seriously. No style whatsoever.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | August 29, 2018 8:11 PM |
Less is more. Tailoring is every thing. Garbo understood this.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | August 29, 2018 8:13 PM |
Hobo is a style, you moron. I like it.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | August 29, 2018 8:16 PM |
I suspect you're a rather mature homosexual R58. That is Ellen Page's style! She wears a lot of black too. Do you worry that she's a cutter?
by Anonymous | reply 61 | August 29, 2018 8:18 PM |
You seem to take my comment personally, R61. No, I don't think she's a cutter. How absurd.
Nor do I think that the skateboard/hobo look is stylish.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | August 29, 2018 8:22 PM |
[quote]Hobo is a style, you moron. I like it.
Ellen Page will not fuck you, you know.
by Anonymous | reply 63 | August 29, 2018 8:23 PM |
Hobo is not stylish. Its trendy and not flattering to men or women.
When in doubt ask yourself, would Capucine have worn this?
by Anonymous | reply 64 | August 29, 2018 8:28 PM |
I wish more men would wear dresses without calling themselves FEMALE.
Dresses for MEN!
by Anonymous | reply 65 | August 29, 2018 8:28 PM |
I love a sexy ass man in a dress. I worn a skirt and I'm hot dude. Fashion is what you want it to be or just what's serviceable. Nothing serious.
by Anonymous | reply 66 | August 29, 2018 8:34 PM |
Bad legs I'll bet. Plus the trouser seam in the pussy area probably is constantly massaging her.

by Anonymous | reply 68 | August 29, 2018 8:37 PM |
That's a great dress/shirt, R68. Kanye wore it well.
by Anonymous | reply 69 | August 29, 2018 8:39 PM |
To answer your question OP, she can, but she doesn't want to.
by Anonymous | reply 70 | August 29, 2018 8:41 PM |
R50 — You are SO wrong.
Also, remember where you're posting.
by Anonymous | reply 71 | August 29, 2018 8:41 PM |
Actually R21 the correct term to call him would be feminine, not fag.
by Anonymous | reply 72 | August 29, 2018 8:45 PM |
Yes, but when Ellen Page goes out to an upscale awards show she wears a dress. Ellen DeGeneres HOSTS awards shows and she can't even manage to fucking wear a dress like everyone else.
by Anonymous | reply 73 | August 29, 2018 8:47 PM |

Keep an open mind and watch this performance from Monday night on So You Think You Can Dance. It's beautifully danced by Darius Hickman. Like most all the choreo on that show, it's a little heavy handed - but still this has a lot to say about the struggle to be oneself.
Not really a fashion statement....but something everyone here might be able to relate to in some way.
by Anonymous | reply 75 | August 29, 2018 8:53 PM |
Keaton rarely wears a dress, but the girl has style.
by Anonymous | reply 76 | August 29, 2018 8:53 PM |
OP, it sounds like YOU want to wear a dress once in a while, would it kill you to do that? Please - you need to deal with your issues, but take baby steps. You are one-bottle-of-lotion away from skinning Ellen and making her into a womansuit.
by Anonymous | reply 77 | August 29, 2018 8:56 PM |
One would think people who said fuck you to the society would be less limited when it comes to others people's individuality. It's not the 1950s anymore, women aren't coy housewives in floral dresses who hate sex.
by Anonymous | reply 78 | August 29, 2018 8:56 PM |
Yes, why doesn't the recalcitrant hussy wear a dress?!! She'd forget all about "personal expression" and "freedom of choice," if they left her alone with me for a few hours. A few cattle-prods to the face and genitals and she'd put that dress on pronto, believe you me. Praise Jesus!
by Anonymous | reply 79 | August 29, 2018 8:58 PM |
Its not individuality. Its a common lazy teenage boy look.
Look elsewhere for the expression of individuality.
by Anonymous | reply 80 | August 29, 2018 9:01 PM |
Sorry, R79, valiant effort, but the voice is all wrong.
by Anonymous | reply 81 | August 29, 2018 9:03 PM |
R74 well they could, but they don't, so presumably they're happy with the way Ellen dresses.
by Anonymous | reply 82 | August 29, 2018 9:07 PM |
Would she look better than k.d. lang back in 1989?
by Anonymous | reply 83 | August 29, 2018 9:11 PM |
Her haircut bothers me. It is just too harsh on her.
by Anonymous | reply 84 | August 29, 2018 9:15 PM |
Alright I agree with that R84. Ellen has big ears and a long chin. The super short hair is not great on her and neither is long hair. This cut was her best look, but the haircut is very much out of style now. Ellen does have style. Have you seen Paula Poundstone lately? Oy.
by Anonymous | reply 85 | August 29, 2018 9:44 PM |
Does the entertainment world need another woman who looks like this?
by Anonymous | reply 86 | August 29, 2018 9:53 PM |
R50 So it's offensive to call a lesbian a dyke? When the fuck did that start?
by Anonymous | reply 87 | August 29, 2018 10:54 PM |
Ellen’s the equivalent of our dads wearing old suspenders around the house to hitch up his saggy 20 year old jeans, and a near-sheer checkered shirt from years of use.
She is not fashionable nor a sharp dresser.
At gatherings, people are just happy she combed her hair.
by Anonymous | reply 88 | August 29, 2018 11:29 PM |
R88 And is made up. She's no oil painting with out the mascara.
by Anonymous | reply 89 | August 29, 2018 11:31 PM |
What's the issue, OP?
Why can't YOU wear a dress sometime, you fat whore?
by Anonymous | reply 90 | August 29, 2018 11:34 PM |
It's always been offensive to call a lesbian a dyke, assholes! A "bull dyke" or a "bull dagger" is even worse. And I have never (and I'm 60 and have been out since 1972) heard any lesbian use these terms, even in jest. Just you boys.
But I don't expect too much from you faggots (thanks, R35!) -- you're men, after all, and you hate women (even lesbians!) even more than straight men do.
If you don't believe me, take a look at the lesbian-bashing in this thread alone. DL gayboys sure hate women!
by Anonymous | reply 91 | August 29, 2018 11:49 PM |
Simmer down, Butchie.
by Anonymous | reply 92 | August 29, 2018 11:54 PM |
She needs to wear a DRESS!
by Anonymous | reply 93 | August 29, 2018 11:58 PM |
Just one thing that I'm lookin' for
and SHE DON'T WEAR A DRESS!
by Anonymous | reply 95 | August 30, 2018 12:16 AM |
I'm a lesbian (not trans), and I was a tomboy growing up. One of my earliest memories is fighting with my mom every year when she took me back-to-school shopping. She wanted me to wear dresses. I thought they were too formal. I just wanted to wear jeans and T-shirts. (That should have been the first sign I was gay.)
I still prefer to wear jeans, but stylish ones. For more formal occasions, there are plenty of pantsuits that are cute and feminine. I would feel (and look) awkward in a dress, mainly because I hardly ever wear them.
There used to be a butch lesbian stand-up comedian who talked about people pressuring her to wear a dress so she'd look more feminine. Then, when she wore a dress, people asked, "Who's the dyke in the dress?"
by Anonymous | reply 96 | August 30, 2018 1:01 AM |
I don't hate you elderlez. Not one bit. But they do call it the Dyke March in a lot gay pride celebrations. I think it is a pejorative and I've never known a lesbian who referred to herself as a dyke. (Rosie does sometimes) I'm a gay man who sometimes calls other men faggots. Only the ones who deserve it.....
by Anonymous | reply 97 | August 30, 2018 1:14 AM |
R71 and R87 hey faggots, how ya doin? See how that feels?
by Anonymous | reply 98 | August 30, 2018 1:14 AM |
How would you feel if someone called you a fem fag R97
by Anonymous | reply 99 | August 30, 2018 4:11 AM |
Fem fag is redundant.
by Anonymous | reply 100 | August 30, 2018 4:24 AM |
Not at all R100. You can be a fag and not fem.
by Anonymous | reply 101 | August 30, 2018 4:29 AM |
R101. I'll take your word for it, as I am neither. To answer your question, I would not like it to be called a fag or faggot. We have all experienced it but I am not as old as many posters here and it is seldom said with terrible malice anymore. It doesn't really hit or hurt me where I live. I am not feminine, but I have been demonstrative with my bf and friends in public and I have no trouble telling people I am gay. Naturally some straights are disappointed to find out I am unavailable or a waste of such fine proportions.
by Anonymous | reply 102 | August 30, 2018 4:50 AM |
Sadly, R91, my experience says the same. Whatever. Some men are interesting, but most are not worth the effort.
by Anonymous | reply 103 | August 30, 2018 10:32 AM |
I believe some people on this thread are mentally ill.
by Anonymous | reply 104 | August 30, 2018 10:35 AM |
R96 I don't think it's even a sign of being lesbian. A lot of straight girls and women prefer to wear trousers, they just find them more comfortable and practical. If dresses were such great garments to wear then straight men would have appropiated them by now.
by Anonymous | reply 105 | August 30, 2018 10:57 AM |
R105, I think men did wear dresses (or robes) in the past. And in the Middle East, they often still do. They just don't have as many colorful patterns to choose from as women do.
by Anonymous | reply 106 | August 30, 2018 2:31 PM |
Is this an American thing, women need to be extra feminine and men extra masculine? So many women I know, gay or straight, don't wear dresses or makeup. And it's perfectly normal.
by Anonymous | reply 107 | August 30, 2018 6:54 PM |
It's also a thing in countries where religion has a pretty strong grip on "communities". Some people would call them retarded, but that's unkind.
