Peter Strzok fired from FBI

Lordy, I hope there will be lawsuits. If Strzok gets fired for his text messages, then we should see every text message from every current WH official, so we can assess their personal conduct.

Was what he did stupid? Yes. Was he disclosing national security secrets to the Russians? No, that was Trump.

Ironically, the very congressmen interrogating Strzok during the hearings said far worse things about Trump publicly during the primaries.

So people who work for the FBI aren't supposed to have opinions? What about all the conservative FBI staff that would leak info to Giuliani?

Wasn’t he in violation of the HATCH Act though? I know government workers can’t have any political paraphernalia on their desks or discussions at work.

R7, how would a private message between 2 employees violate the Hatch act? It doesn’t. Republicans tried to make some kind of case regarding the Hatch act violation, but that was just more stupid noise on the right.

This guy was an incredible agent for our country. This is just so damn unfair. I hope he doesn't let it ruin his life. He needs to know many of us thank him for the intelligence on Russian agents he was so instrumental in revealing.

OP and R6 are right - this is all about optics. Strozek is another sacrificial lamb, though R24 is also correct. Strozek was really dumb sending those texts on his government phone.

R18, I'm wondering the same. Some here stated that an investigation was going on - trying to recall if the inspector general made a mention of it when he was addressing Congress re: the Comey report.

We were warned about the Hatch Act months ago. Normally, we can do what we want until election year rolls around.

I wish I could post the 2 emails we got about it. My agency had to go to legal to confirm what to do. It was unprecedented if I remember right for the Hatch Act to go back into effect so soon.
