V.S. Naipaul is literally totes of a dead to me.

I'm not a great reader of novels, plays or poetry but when I was going through a phase of reading contemporary novels I read Naipaul's Half a Life. It was fairly enjoyable and one of the more memorable novels of the writers of his age group. Are there any V.S. Naipaul fans here?

The only Naipaul I have read is A House for Mr. Biswas. I found it interesting. I recall he had a falling out with Paul Theroux but I can't remember the details.

OP, I'm sorry, but there is a certain logic behind some DL traditions.

Just stop posting in this thread everyone. It’s a total failure and should be put out if its misery. Just let it die peacefully.

r8 Yes, porn, porn, porn, celebrity, celebrity, Trump, Trump, sex, sex, sex, commerce, dating, models threads are so underrepresented on dl and the internet, a literature thread just stands in the way. I'm sure there will be several other threads about Naipaul, who died, on dl in the next hours and days.

R10 He was a sexist self obsessed asswipe, he will get no threads here

Boring writer who was published mainly as a novelty.

by Anonymousreply 12August 12, 2018 1:15 AM

Horrible person, apparently. Abusive to the first wife. Self-hating non-white Brit wannabe. Like some of his books though.

I love the smell of Naipaul in the mourning.
