James Gun Spotted At Pedophile-Themed Party
“Found on Gunn’s website was a video he titled, “Video: 100 Pubescent Girls Touch Themselves,” which featured a chorus of what looks like high school-aged girls singing the pop tune “I Touch Myself,” a song about female masturbation.
Gunn added this comment to the video: "Huston Huddleston posted this video on my Facebook page with the note ‘I thought you’d appreciate this,’ My response: ‘Appreciate it?!! I just came all over my own face!!’"
The screenshots of the pedophilia-themed party, which appear to come from Gunn’s personal blog, the theme of the party was “To Catch a Predator,”
One of the photos shows Gunn dressed as a Catholic priest posing with two young women dressed to look like children.
The second photo features Gunn, again dressed as a priest, next to a pigtailed young women sucking her thumb. "

I guess reports that he's negotiating a multi-million dollar exit from Disney, as well as being courted by other major studios for future movies, including Warner/DC, has really pissed off someone.

He’s toast. Now all the cast members who defended him look ridiculous.

Sorry, what reputable media establishment published this article with such an incredibly misleading headline? This is a hit job, probably by the right wing as they feared they were losing their scalp.

Also note that it's the right wing with such a pedo obsession.

There are also pics of Bryan Singer dressed as a priest at a pedo party.

Duh. Disney didn’t drop him over some old tweets. Something more explosive is being hidden. It’s been obvious from the beginning - everyone was being so nice about it all.
Someone has the goods on Mr. Gunn. And Disney was getting out ahead of it...

R10 I never believed it was the tweets. If he were some nobody who directed some little movie, I might buy that, but he's not. I knew there had to be something bigger.

Gunn is friends with convicted pedophile Huston Huddleston.

Disney was never going to be able to keep him due to the non-family friendly nature of the controversy. They have one of the most rigid set of restrictions in their contracts among all the studios for their talent. They cannot be involved in anything which damages their family friendly image.
If we're going to play conspiracy theory, given the tens of millions involved, it's more likely a Disney smear campaign than it is prescience or forewarning of worse to come.
Also, one of the points of negotiation was somehow trying to keep him involved without actually directing the movie. They want to use his completed script which is greatly complicating the negotiations.

r5 Marvel CEO Issac Perlmutter donated $1 million to Trump and is a Shadow Head to the DVA. I do believe this is a hit job. These are bad jokes, in bad taste, but these are grown women dressed as school girls, not actual girls.

No surprise. When you do that many jokes about pedophilia (probably in excess of 100), it's obvious he has a fixation with it.

Bob Iger also supposedly has aspirations of running for President some day, so he has to distance himself from Gunn.

Vanity and stupidity are the inseparable pair of attributes of celebrities that prevent them from deleting their earlier social media platform comments. it's not their fans and friends seeking out ancient history, it's their enemies.

True.
But, there is no accusation that he's a pedo, only that he has bad taste and jokes about it, albeit way too frequently for anyone to be comfortable. However, I don't subscribe to the smoke/fire hysteria.
If joking about it makes you one, then Kathy Griffin has being doing a bit about To Catch a Predator for years, and no one has accused her of being one - and after the hubbub about the cheetollini pic, don't you think if there were dirt on her, it would be out there by now.
Now, if there were actual rumors and accusations of his diddling kids, that would be a whole separate smoke/fire situation that should be taken more seriously and investigated by authorities.

R13 Disney knew about the tweets 6 years ago. He apologized for them in 2012. Why didn't they fire him then? Why now?

R23 Good point about smoke versus fire. As we know making a joke about an axe murder and committing an axe murder are two different things.

The issue is public image.
Until it became a problem, they probably didn't see the need to act, if they knew about them. The level of front of mind awareness of these things was not what it is today.
Even 5 years ago, it was a different time. Sandusky had only just been convicted in 2012, Subway Jared was still a few years in the future. Outrage had not become a competitive and spectator sport and "me too" wasn't even a glimmer in anyone's eye and the damnation by association - such as with Spacy - hadn't begun. The literally edited him out of a movie and replaced him.
But, the biggest issue is the outrage and virtue signalling hadn't become a fact of life.

Wait, he directs Marvel movies and Bryan Singer directs marvel movies? And Barbara Walters of Disney-ABC snapped at Corey Feldman for “damaging an entire industry” by outing pedophiles in Hollywood?
What the fuck is Disney up to?

R24, Disney can’t favor one political party over another. It would be unfair to rehire James Gunn while also not rehiring Roseanne. I think what James Gunn tweeted was more offensive than Roseanne’s Planet of the Apes tweet.

There is absolutely no basis for this statement. The level of stupid in this statement is astounding. Disney can do whatever it wants as long as it increases shareholder value. Now, if you want to argue that it risks declining revenues and profits, that's separate discussion - however, as proven by Gay Days at Disney properties, they certainly are sufficiently capable of assessing which constituencies they can and cannot afford to piss off.

Of course, you do. Of course, they were. Because in the game of false equivalencies, it's important to make this connection very clear to the rest of the deplorables, so they can parrot it as well.
At least we now have another plausible explanation for why this is all happening right now.
