'Legally Blonde 3' is officially happening

Reese Witherspoon, who played Woods in the original 2001 "Legally Blonde" and subsequent sequel in 2003, confirmed that she will reprise the character for a third time.

"It's true," Witherspoon captioned a video of herself clad in a pink bikini, floating in a pool in a nod to a scene in the film.

A woman doing cutesy is barely tolerable in her 20s, let alone her 40s.

I recently rewatched Legally Blonde, and Reese was undeniably charming. But what was cute for a college student would come across as pathetic for a woman now in her 40s. Maybe now she’s a law professor or something....

She has the opportunity to make this socially relevant, and honestly she should take it. Elle's working in the political realm, so it'd be foolish of her to not capitalize on the #metoo movement in some capacity. Girl power and all that. If they strike the proper tone it could work. They better bring back Jennifer Coolidge as well.

So will she have become and elderlaw specialist?

Legally Blond was the one moment in Clueless where Cher says "I object" stretched to one long movie. One note, one joke. And Reese was no Alicia in that role.

The actress spoke to Entertainment Tonight yesterday, to confirm that work on the film will begin as soon as she's wrapped Big Little Lies season 2.

"Oh it's gonna be so fun!" she said. "I got to go to a meeting the other day where we talked about all the new plot points and all the characters and some returning characters and some new characters. I mean, I got so excited just in the meeting. I was like, 'This is gonna be good.'"

I hope they come up with something better story than in part two, although it was fun to see members of Congress give each other snaps.

Legally Blonde 2 was one of the worst sequels I've ever seen. A total cash grab and shit film.

At least Sex and the City 2 was so bizarre that it made it hard to look away.

I was meh about the first movie (and thought her clothes were hideous) and probably haven't seen the sequel. They'd have to vastly improve it for me to care.

Critics hated the first sequel, 39% on Rotten Tomatoes.
