My mother was 40 when she had me and I was crazy about her but for some ridiculous reason as a little 6 year old it bothered me that she looked older than all the other mothers. Why would that bother a 6 year old kid?

I had a friend in college whose dad was 54 and mom was 40 when he was born. His father was older than my grandfather. His father seemed ancient compared to my folks. I can't imagine what it would be like to have such an old parent as Gere will be, Hollywood star or no. I think Steve Martin was roughly the same age when his child was born.

The older the sperm donor the more likelihood of autism and other mental disorders in the child.

I don't feel too badly for the children of rich old fools who have children with their decades younger wives or girlfriends. The kid will always be well taken care of. I do think it's ridiculous, though, these old men with wives young enough to be their granddaughters. Aren't they aware that all these women want from them is their money? Or are they so delusional that they think the decades younger women married them for "love?" I suppose the arrangement works for them both; the old man gets sex and the young woman gets money. It's kind of sick but that's basically what May/December marriage tend to be.
