I know Cunningham is most famous for his book The Hours, which won him the Pulitzer. But I was really taken aback by Flesh and Blood. I think it's become my all-time favorite novel of fiction. I've read it at least three times.

Funny, I was inspired to read the book after seeing and loving the movie. I expected to be overwhelmed but I pretty much felt the same way. Although there were a couple of things changed in the movie that I thought were better in the book, I was surprised to discover that my favorite monologue delivered in the movie wasn't even in the book! It was that specific piece of writing that made me seek it out.

So I kind of begrudgingly read Flesh and Blood a couple years later. Someone had given me a copy which had been collecting dust on my shelf until i finally grabbed it out of boredom. And like I wrote, I was spellbound! At one time, there was talk of adapting it, (there had even a table-read of a script. I think Martha Plimpton read the role of the youngest daughter who had moved to Greenwich Village, but I can't recall the rest).

After watching Dancy's performance in The Path for its last season, I am inclined to believe the guesses that he was the victim in that blind at R80 when it was posted on CDAN. He always came off as a serviceable pretty boy actor who never really stood out for me, other than being ridiculously pretty, but he's gained some depth in his 40s and it shows in his choices for roles. I considered him the weakest link in Hannibal, all that simpering, but I like some of his more recent performances. There definitely seems to be a kink side to him, and if you imagine that he's an abuse survivor, the relationship with Danes suddenly makes a lot more sense. I always get a vibe in interviews that she is a grounding force for him.

I remember a WPIX morning news interview with Hugh Dancy, what stood out was how rude he was the person interviewing him. There was absolutely no reason for his terrible attitude.

The celebrity interviewer sure wasn't asking any personal questions, the interviewer was well liked by the WPIX news team. It was Hugh who acted as if he was above it all. This interview was way over 6-8 years ago, this nasty actor wasn't even in his NBC series yet. Think he was promoting a Broadway play at the time. He was barely known in the US, yet was dripping with attitude and smugness.

During this interview, Hugh came across as 100% gay, he was very fey. I've always thought he married Clare Danes for a green card. I still think they have a marriage of convenience. Their kid/kids could have been conceived in a Petri dish.
