These pictures reinforce my theory that the vert early 00s were burnout from the late 90s the same way the very early 80s were burnout from the late 70s.

The 00s were horrific, really. I shall find examples of style atrocities perpetrated then.

While ugly in retrospect, this Carrie Bradshaw era was a good time to be young and poor. With just a few bucks at a thrift store and some scissors, you could fashion a club outfit like Gwen Stefani’s.

Unfortunately, due to the 90s nostalgia in this decade, belly shirts/crop tops are back. They look tacky on anyone and everyone. Especially men.

r11, when I was in Buenos Aires about years ago, giant 90's platform chunky shoes and boots were en mode. Thank the gods it has not spread too much.

Rock n Roll has always been about wacky clothing choices that mere mortals would never make. RnR is about making a splash and being “in yr face” and the outfits are all about that message.
RnR should be exempt from outfit criticism. It’s supposed to be outrageous.
What were movie stars and TV stars wearing in 2001?

Argh, that should read, "two years ago"

R12, I shudder at the thought. That is chilling. Another thing I hate that is probably 90s nostalgia: all the men and women who get their septum pierced. It looks ridiculous. Are they bulls? I don't remember many people in the 00s doing that but I remember a bunch of "alternative" people in the 90s doing it.

I loved JLo’s style in the 2000’s! I wish juicy tracksuits would make a comeback
