Sure.

He may well now say that he is not gay but this does not wipe out the past no matter how much they scrub - just how does he explain the pre-OL bios listing him as gay - where were his objections then? How does he explain peers and friends of that time describing him as gay? Why would they lie? How does he explain his own posts such as 'There's nothing straight about my bat. You know that'?

I have a major character fault that tries to find the good in all people. So I've been desperately trying to write a post which will try to put SH in a better light. ie Oh he had no idea what he was getting into when he agreed to a showmance with CB in an attempt to hoodwink the fans into thinking that they were a couple. He was naïve in thinking he could get away with closeting and bearding for the US fans. But as it turned out the show with CB disrespected all of his fans and the second beard was an insult to their intelligence. So now here he is denying that he is gay. Give me a break! Ok so let's get real. His acting in season 1 of OL was good other than a few wobbly scenes. Season 2 was all about the costumes. Season 3 was an absolute disaster. Gilligan's Island sets poor acting on his behalf as well as many of the other actors. It looks like he has no idea how to play an older man so that does not bode well for season 4,5 and 6. I expect TSWDM is going to be a dud. So really SH hasn't a hope in hell in a long lived HW career. He surely has enough money now to find a living elsewhere. What he has just done is a shameful thing and a slap in the face of the gay community and I hope the box office sales will reflect that because not only gay audiences and well as straight will have no respect for him and should stay away in droves.

I would stress that I am not from the US and many of these names are not familiar to me at all, and I would also stress that I don't know the reporting track record of Advocate, but this is what is out there (no pun intended) for what it is worth. Part 3: Thomas Dekker - actor - American Gods showrunner Bryan Filler claimed that Dekker's character in 'Heroes' was re-written from gay to straight at his reps' insistence and that Dekker later came out. In 2011 Dekker was still saying no, only relationships with women. Then he came out as gay and is happily same-sex married. Colton Haynes - actor - 'dated' a series of women but when a Tumbler post referred to his 'secret gay past' he acknowledged it with 'Was it a secret?'. Moneice Slaughter - actor - 2016 came out as bisexual after previous denials - 'It's not new to my family although I always denied it out of fear of judgement and criticism'.

Yep, some reviews are really harsh, like the one posted above - they are saying a wreck, hodgepodge, cartoonish material, discardable. The review from Entertainment Weekly seems to be the most critical - a mirthless, dead-on-arrival dud.

Others are kinder - funny, fun, just good enough to have you wish that it was better, no high art but lots of fun bits, no classic but an appealing glimmer of a larger female-buddy-comedy world ready to be explored, aims to please but doesn't earn the nearly two-hour running time. Kate McKinnon getting lots of praise for her comedic talents.

Some are saying energetic but spotty, some gags are great, some fall flat, uneven but often funny, can't seem to decide whether it wants to be a light comedy caper or a top-heavy exercise in B movie mega-violence, mixed, OK but not great.

Not that much mention of Sam, his role being described as to look capable and pretty, but also no particular criticism - the girls are the stars. If he was hoping that this was going to be his big break, maybe not. But people will turn up and it could be worse, but could be a lot better.

So, to him has it been worth the 'I'm not gay' claim on the very eve of this? He had four years to say he was not gay but he did not do this, so the timing of the great reveal looks shonky indeed. Regarding Sam and James Bond.

My hubby has an app for betting on the horses, sport etc. During last week I asked him if it had entertainment stuff on it and who was favourite to play James Bond. Sam wasn’t anywhere the favourites at 50/1. James Norton and Tom Hardy were top.

I hope actors playing gay characters learn a lesson. You can't please everyone. If you are questioned be direct (if you are a closet case please avoid gay characters). Noone is going to be mad at you for being straight, so as long as you don't seem desperate to make people believe you are straight or don't come accross like an homophobe (the oh it's so hard to kiss a dude it's very tiresome, come on you are an actor and kissing someone it's not difficult at all) everything it'll be ok. It's very possible RM didn't know Sam was gay -- or didn't think it would be a big deal. I don't think Diana Gabaldon knew he was gay. It wasn't until some of her readers questioned her upon immediately learning Sam had been cast and they saw his early theatre bios that indicated he was openly gay. R579 I don't think anyone here is disputing Sam's sexiness, he's gorgeous, but you have to be able to command a movie screen to carry a franchise like Bond, and he just doesn't have that screen presence. I would argue that the “it” factor is a combination of charisma and acting skill. If you have both, it’s mesmerizing. If you have one and not the other, less so. IMO, Heughan needs to hone his craft on both the big and small screens.

I saw TSWDM and he does have the male lead, it was refreshing to see him do something other than Jamie. He did a good job except for the scene at the end where he had to kiss Mila Kunis, looked kind of awkward and uncomfortable. No chemistry between those two. But no 007 material.

He will never be bond he just doesn't look right, couldn't carry it off. Idris Elba would be ok but I would prefer Tom Hardy, he's such a good actor and can play many roles.

Er....Just what does Sam think Edinburgh-born Sean Connery is? As for the slashed odds, I think that was in an article in the Scotsman. Sam is not appearing in various other magazine lists (British GQ, UK Express, Mens Journal, Vogue, Independent) as a possibility to play Bond. He can't be ruled out of course, but it seems rather unlikely in such a field. Ironically one of the names appearing in a few of the lists is Luke Evans. I doubt if he is a front runner, but how deliciously ironic it would be if he did get it as a (now) openly gay actor given Sam's own closeting.

Some of the reader comments attached to the article were fairly racist though. No matter who gets it (and I still think Sam has an uphill battle for it) some people are going to be unhappy.
