Quite a few Tumblrinas, apparently. Poor Raul, he's had to hire security for protection.

R15 is right there were mostly Tumblrinas but wrong about the security guards... a bit fantastical really. Not like his life is in danger.

Very much so, r18. And for all the dozens and dozens and dozens of posts about The Waves, hardly anyone said a thing about the show itself - it was all how cute/hot/hunky/adorable/hot/dadbod/sweet/hot, etc., Raul is (to be fair, the show is probably so far over their collective heads they wouldn't even know HOW to formulate a though about it).

There is/was one restraining order that I know of (although I think it may have lapsed by now), and then there's a certain faction that takes great pride in stalking Bill, poor guy. Raul is furious about it/them, but what can he do?

I don't get it. Raul is okay, but he's really not all that and he's hardly in the public eye. He's not even involved with theater as much these days. He's nearly 50 years old, he doesn't have a hot body, he's not even that good looking anymore and he's a good 20 years past "adorable." What's the fascination?

I still find him attractive, although it seems like he completely stopped caring about keeping a fit body, which I don't mind that much. Latin men (especially cubans) tend to get bigger after a while, and it's a sign that he's in a happy relationship, with food and his partner. He truly is in daddy territory now, when it seems like yesterday when he was about to play Bobby.

From the looks of it, he spent the whole show barefoot. 10 years ago, this thread would have been maxed out in a day just based on that!

Eye of the beholder, r21. He does have a lot of charisma and the Tumblrinas seem to respond to that. Plus, to them it's OK to fantasize about him because he's "safe" because he's so old (to the high school/college age Tumblrinas) and because he's gay (although they'll fight to the death insisting he's bi). He's also very very smart and I guess there's a certain segment that is turned on by that.

He isn't to everybody's taste (which is why he doesn't have a huge gigantic following) but he sure is polarizing. That makes him attractive to some people, too.

True, R23. I prefer Raul over any of the hundreds of bland, twinkish performers with Disney voices.

Raul's website has been revamped. I wish I could say they've made it a whole lot better, but....

Are the tumblerinas still insisting he's bi?

Of course they are, r29. They can't accept that he's just plain, ordinary homosexual. That isn't exotic enough, or unique enough for them. And the tumblrinas are far too special to ever be interested in someone ordinary, it means THEY are just ordinary, and they could NEVER be THAT. The uniqueness of the objects of their obsession is what validates they own "uniqueness".

Raul will be starring in a Brecht play directed by John Doyle this fall. Watch the Tumblrinas brains implode as they try to comprehend Brecht.

Raul will play Hamlet next spring in Chicago at the Courtyard Theater. This will mark Raul’s return to Chicago where he spent a decade performing.

I wonder if there are plans for a transfer to Broadway, if it's successful in Chicago?

Hamlet at Chicago Shakespeare Theater starts rehearsals in March, runs mid-April to the end of June.

Sorry, my bad, Hamlet closes early June not the end of June.

Looks like Hamlet ended before it started, for Raul. He's backed out of the production.

Drama Desk nominations are out, and Raul has garnered one for the Brecht play he did last Fall. It looks like he'll be the odds-on favorite to win.

Who ARE those other nominees? I've never even heard of them, except for Jay O. Sanders. And NONE of the major Tony contenders got nominated? That is so random.

I love when people try to discredit someone by saying they're never even heard of them; isn't that more a sign of your being uninformed? just saying.
