Public cruising places
I know this was a thing years ago.
I wondered if any of them still existed? I was mildly curious about exploring one, as many of the elderrgays I know rave about their experiences there, but I don't think any still exist?
I was just wondering if anyone here had actually done that in the last year or two - in a public restroom? Or any of those places?

Once someone names the site in the internet and it is easily discoverable it's more likely to stop being a beat.

I used to read the Bob Dameon's guide books for fun as a kid. Lol I enjoyed the minutiae directions to the locations. The most obscure places - it was fun to know that this all male secret society existed.

It was "Damron Guide" and they would have codes like AYOR after certain listings that were deemed "at your your own risk", for cruisy areas where you could get stopped by law enforcement of harassed by fag-bashers. And then during the internet era, cruisingforsex.com was all the rage, to be replace by squirt.org.

And they still exist and probably always will. Much less places to go now than say, 20-25 years ago, but they are still around. And if you get caught, you will probably get your name released by law enforcement and reported to the local news media. Very embarrassing.

I know there was apparently a web site too but the more a site was talked about the more it was raided by police.
It all seems sort of exciting to me.

Do those of you that use cruise spots, do you ever think you might be killed? Is that part of the thrill?

About 30 or so years ago Tammy Cruise got popped by Miss Blue while she was smoking pole in that famous T-room in the park across from the old Studio One in WeHo. Naturally it never was mentioned in the media.

Every public toilet at every mainline railway station is famous for closeted men wanking at the urinals. You'll see signs up saying the police are aware of 'inappropriate behaviour' taking place.
Another public toilet I can think of that's a proper cruising zone is the old underground one next to Greenwich Park.

Online porn (and economics and redevelopment) killed the X-rated movie theaters, many of them crumbling, where more than a little cruising - and often during the show, a lot more - happened. Boxes and balconies were not used as the architect intended.
The bushes and parks serve a purpose on a nice evening but the movies were a hotbed of activity in every kind of weather.
PeeWee Herman getting busted in the theater in Sarasota had a negative effect, too.

I think there are a few reasons for public cruising's demise.
1. AIDS
2. Police awareness.
3. The Internet
4. Grindr.

Cheesman Park in Denver is still somewhat known for that. I live close by and have driven through at night and seen guys making contact.

Does cruising still happen in NYC?
Sure there are momentary glances but no one seems to go further than that

Hugh Macrae park in Wilmington, NC was infamous for this. Supposedly North Myrtle had a gay beach as well.
